Cheeseburger in Paradise

Summary:

You're invited to a large beach party and manage to find a cutie to party with, saving you from your boredom.

Notes:

I finished this a while ago and I'm not sure why I didn't post, hah! Based on that one bbq episode from Memphis... Boy that fit wrecks me.

Did you know Jimmy also likes Jimmy Buffet? Fun fact I didn't know until after this was written.

Work Text:

You don't know why you came to this stupid party. You hated the beach, you hated the loud sounds, and you hated the people. But your friend insisted you come here because they're going all out and invited some “really cool people”. More like she invited the whole town to be here.

There were several tiki bars littered across the beach, and you decided to gamble on whichever was closest and out of the sun. Your porcelain skin couldn't take much heat despite wearing sunblock, but you risked coming out anyway as the two piece frilly bathing suit you decided to wear was barely covering anything. Point is - shade is good.

Sitting down, you observe more of your surroundings. There was a game of volleyball going on, lots of beach towels, and a lot of people playing in the water. You didn't like the water either. Really, why did you come out? Shaking your head, you quickly order a drink from the bartender. As you wait, someone sits beside you.

“Hey there, baby! You enjoyin’ this party or what?” The thick Tennessee accent graces your ears as well as a big smile. He was of average height for a man, his hair incredibly fluffy and sporting facial hair. Sunglasses were covering his eyes, and he had a completely open Hawaiian shirt with swim trunks on.

Just be polite. “Yeah! It's uh… great!”

The man quickly laughed. “Oh really now? What's your favorite part? Which ones are your friends here?”

You tilt your head a little bit. Usually people stop talking to you after your first awkward answer. You tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. “The tiki bar where I'm out of the sun, heh. And my friend is the goober who set all this up.”

He playfully bats my arm. “Aww, c'mon! It's fun in the sun! I'll introduce you to some of my pals here. You look like you need to relax.” He laughs, but it's oddly soothing.

“Yanno? Sure, why not.” You grab your drink and reluctantly follow the mysterious man who already sped out of his chair and was waving you down the beach. You giggle at how much energy he has and try to quickly catch up.

“Oh! And what's your name, darlin’?” He shouts from down the ways.

You shout your name back with a smile and he gives you a thumbs up. “What about you?”

“Jimmy! Jimmy Hart!!”

You a laugh a little more - it really is hard not to follow that energy. He leads you to the volleyball game and stands off by the side while you catch up. Once you do, he points out everyone here.

“Even the guys in masks are your friends…? Why the masks?”

“It's part of their tradition. No one can know who they are.” He nods like it's as normal as breathing before going back to explaining what he and his friends do. You've never watched any wrestling, but it seemed neat enough. He explained that the reason why they're over here is because Jerry Lawler is too chicken to come and face them. You pretend to follow, but it seems like there's a lot of drama between the two groups. Jimmy is also talking about a mile minute and it's again, weirdly relaxing. It's like having something to focus on other than your fraying nerves. Before you could say anything, one of his friends bean him with the volleyball.

Jimmy is taken aback and you're nearly mortified, but highly concerned. Before you could even ask him if he's okay, he grabs the volleyball and lobs it as hard as he can at one of the guys. It beans him back and Jimmy is once again laughing, a smirk in his voice. “Your sure ain't gettin better, Wayne!!”

Wayne mocks him back and continues the game. Jimmy shakes his head and looks at you. “Do you wanna play a round with me? There's an empty court right near by.”

“As long as you don't destroy the volleyball over my head.”

“No promises~”

We go over to the court and Jimmy grabs a volleyball from the rack. You put your drink on a table nearby, but you're sure you're going to forget it. You run to your side of the court and signal to him that you're ready.

Jimmy smiles and lobs the ball at you, and you return it. Both of you actually set up a pretty good back and forth - surprising you because you normally suck at this.

“Not bad, doll! But you haven't seen nothin’ yet.” With that, he spikes the ball and you slide on the sand to try to hit it, but fail miserably. Ah, there it is.

“Thanks for going easy on me here.”

“You don't seem like the type to be going easy on. C'mon, I know you got this, baby.” The words he says are supportive, but the way he says them sounds sinister.

Alright, if that's how he wants to play. You brush yourself off and grab the volleyball, lobbing it back at him. After a few rallies, you spike it at him. As you were about to cheer, he speeds to hit it, and you just barely hit it back. You're taken too off guard and can't hit the next lob.

“You didn't tell me you're a speedster!”

“You didn't ask!” He uproariously laughs.

Before you can even get another word in, a few of the previous guys come over.

“Jimmy, stop torturing the poor girl. No wonder why-”

“Don't finish that sentence, Wayne!!” Jimmy tackles his own guy to the ground, covering the man’s mouth.

Another of the bleach blondes comes over to you and speaks in a New York(?) accent. “We’re gonna help out poor James over here. You go over to his side, and me and Wayne will take this side. Capiche?”

If you didn't agree, you were absolutely going to get beat up. So you nod and give a thumbs up, wandering to the other side of the court. The other blonde has gotten out of the sand and is laughing at whatever Jimmy said. You notice Jimmy’s grumpy face, but when he spots you, it lights up again.

“Now don't embarrass me in front of my men, okay?”

“Wouldn't dream of it, tiger.”

You both both get ready, then the game begins. At some point during the game, you pick up that the other man is named Kevin. Both Wayne and Kevin are a powerhouse - but we're holding our own pretty well considering. You've got the power moves down and Jimmy keeps coming in with the last minute saves. We score a couple of points-

“Watch out-!” You exclaim, but it's too late. Jimmy runs right into you, both falling into the sand. As it was the last round, you hear the other boys high five and walk away… or at least you can't hear them over your thrumming heart. He’s leaning over you, his legs straddling you and arms holding himself up, but not nearly high enough, his hands somewhat sinking into the sand. You stare at him wide eyed, completely unsure of what to do. You notice his hair is more ruffled than before and he's somewhat out of breath. Cute…

“Hey… why'd you get in my way. We coulda had them!”

You feel his breath on your face and involuntary shiver. He's too close. “Your way? You were in my way, mister.”

“I think you owe me a drink for making me lose.” He playfully says, knowing full well what he's doing.

“I- what?!” You push on his chest to get him off you, but then realize you're pressing on his bare soft chest and recoil with a blush. “Get off me already!”

He smirks, sticks out his tongue and then gets up. He at least offers you a hand and you follow suit.

“You get one drink out of me because … I had a lot of fun. Even if we did lose.” You start to walk away without looking at him, knowing he's following.

“Whatever you have to tell yourself, honey.” Jimmy catches up quickly and puts his arm around your shoulders, pulling you in closer. It's in an oddly friendly way and you don't sense any actual flirtation which takes you off guard. You shake your head and give him a playful smirk, wanting to not think about it too much.

When we get to the little snack bar hut, he removes his arm.

“Just a ginger ale, baby.” Jimmy addresses the server. “Make it two.”

“Ordering for me now?”

“You seem thirsty.”

You immediately blush again and furrow your eyebrows. What does he mean by that?! “No I-”

“You played two games out there, you gotta stay hydrated, doll.” He gestures to the new glass in front of you. You blink at it, tentatively picking it up and taking a sip. Is he flirting with you or not?! You bite your lip out of frustration - do you even want him to be flirting with you?

He takes a sip of his soda as well. “There's a storage unit a little farther down that has more games and things in it. I've been meaning to check it out - the guys got here and immediately went to volleyball. It's fun, but I- it gets boring quickly.”

“Is that why you were wandering about?”

He grins. “Ya caught me, doll.”

You think about it for a moment. Which is all you needed - what the heck else are you gonna do? Sit under this tiki hut again moping? “Sure, let's go.”

“I knew you'd be up to it!” He slugs your shoulder and speeds off again, holding his soda.

You run after him. “Quit being so fast all the time!”

He purposely stops, causing you to run into him.

“You really are so clumsy, baby.” He mocks you and you want to about strangle him - yet it comes out as a laugh.

“Only when you're involved apparently.”

We both walk for a few minutes, sipping our drinks, Jimmy talking about this and that, not letting the silence still. When we get to the building, it really is just some old storage shed. You toss your now empty cup somewhere and yank open the door.

“Well… it's got some stuff in here that's for sure.” You make your way inside, carefully stepping over some sports equipment.

Jimmy dramatically sighs. “Here I thought there’d be something fun in here to do…”

You get to the opposite wall of the shed, nearly running into it as you were observing the shelves, “The adventure was fun nonetheless-” As you turn around, there's a thump right beside your head.

Jimmy had you trapped. One arm above your head and the other next to it. He was so, so close you could feel his breath on you again, and his eyes just barely peaked over his sunglasses. He smelled musky and like sunscreen, and a part of you wanted to lean in to smell and touch him more, and the other part is trying to squash those thoughts down. Your hands didn't know what to do, so they cling to the wall behind you.

“W-what are you-”

One of his hands move down your shoulder, down your side and then up your back - but before you could process, there was a loud SNAP and you jumped. He snapped your swim top and he laughs right in your face! “Oh, darlin, you should see the look on your face!”

You shrink a little and you're angry and he doesn't move. He just stares at you with a wide grin - having now moved the sunglasses to the top of his head. Fine, two can play at this game. You reach up to his swim trunks and bravely snap the band. He winces, but doesn't move away. He leans closer. “You tryin’ to see what I'm hidin’?”

You fluster even more - “What? No- no!!” You definitely didn't think that move through - but your thoughts come to a complete stop as he softly places his lips on yours. “You’re so feisty, you know that?” He has his eyes half lidded before closing them and kissing you again softly.

This time, you return the kiss, grabbing onto his open lapels. This asshole…! But… he's a damn good kisser. How is it so soft when everything else he does is so rough? You’re so lost in the feeling, you don't quite process that his body is practically flush with yours now, completely trapping you in. And yet somehow you don't mind. It feels good… his warmth feels nice against your body.

Jimmy eventually parts from your lips. “Is that enough of an apology?” His eyes are so pretty like this, not quite full on pouting, but truly looking like he's apologetic.

“I- uh. Y-yeah. That's enough.”

His hand goes back to your side and you shiver - slowly gliding to your back to hold you closer to himself. Then he smirks again. “The real question - do you want more, doll?”

You lick your lips, still tasting him there. You really shouldn't be doing this with some stranger you just met a few hours ago yet… if it's a hot stranger, who cares, right? “I'd … like that.”

He makes a soft noise and leans in again, but before our lips touch, he lets go and immediately moves away from you. You blink, bewildered. He makes a mocking buzzing sound, “Noh! Only one of those allowed per day.”

You don't move for a moment, and as he leisurely makes his way out of the small shed, you run after him and tackle him into the sand. And instead of a bewildered face to look at, you look at a very smarmy expression as you straddle him this time. Like you played exactly into his hand.

“C'mon… let's take this somewhere else, you're gonna make my men jealous.”
