Walking through a meadow, smelled the wildflowers blooming in the spring air. A picnic basket in hand, with a blanket in the other, he sets lunch up. Silver and Malleus trail behind not too far as they explore-- no-- Silver pulling Malleus behind him as he explores.

They all sit down to eat, as they're eating Lilia can't help but notice how much they've grown. Seven short years had flown by in the blink of an eye, his precious Silver, growing rapidly and becoming such a kind soul. Malleus, it seemed as if only yesterday he'd been holding that egg, now look at him, a stunning young man with an equally kind soul. Lilia could feel as if he could burst with his affections.

He regretted not being able to save his princess, to save his friend. He regretted the circumstances in which he received Malleus. He regretted many things. But someone once told him to see all beautiful things that blossomed from grief, and right they were, he had the most splendid children in the world in front of him.

He spent every moment he could with Silver, and he knew that Malleus did the same. Human lives were fragile, short, yet, they might possibly burn the brightest of them all. Humans were truly wondrous, Silver every day was loving proof of that, how could this old bat possibly hold so much love for a creature so small!

The pain could never leave, not really, but Silver, he was there for him in the unique way only a child can. Shining a ray of hope upon his heart, with every laugh, every triumph, and every single time he would even look at Lilia.
Silver somehow called Lilia from his pain, to a brighter world where everything was alright, where everyone was happy despite everything. How could he not love this blessing of a child?

It took every fiber of his being not to ruin the surprise for Silver, he had sent him and Malleus outside while he prepared everything. Cake, presents, and the decorations, he added extra flairs of love to everything but most especially the cake. It was now a beautiful extravaganza perfect for Silver.

Silver came running in, Malleus in tow, his eyes danced upon everything, lingering over the cake before settling on Lilia.
He jumped into Lilia's arms and they all celebrated for hours, late into the night, and when Lilia was tucking Silver into bed he asked teasingly,
"So my little bat, what was your favorite present?"
Silver didn't even hesitate,
"Spending time with you an' Mal. That was my favorite... Present..." Silver had fallen asleep nestled in the crook of Lilia's arms.
Lilia didn't realize it at the time, but there were silent tears pouring from his face.
