Chapter Text
Entry 1:
I don’t even know where to begin, a lot of things happened and I’m really scared tired. I've heard journaling can help with gather your thoughts together, maybe it’s more of a dairy? Whatever, it's basically the same thing. I’m getting side tracked, I’m just going to start from the beginning.
I’m going to add some context, so it makes more sense or I hope I do. I come from Sweden in Europe and my dad has a cabin in the middle of nowhere in the woods. I was at my dad’s because he picked me up after my sports activity and we were watching a new episode of a show we liked. I actually studied for once and got a little heated, so I walked to the woods to cool off.

“I DON’T UNDERSTAND, I’M LITERALLY DOING WHAT YOUR SAYING?!” A teenage girl shouts out in frustration, she intensely looks at her math homework. Her dad, who tried to explain a bit of algebra and is now doing his best to calm down his very emotional daughter.
“It’s not hard, you're just making it more complicated than it needs to be Astrid.” He sighs out while holding on a small white board with an algebra question on it. The teen looked at the board and then at her homework, she did it twice before it finally clicked for her.
“I’m stupid- “ She said out loud, slumping down her head to the table and making an irritated groan. “Sorry dad for screaming at you…” a muffled apology came out of her. Her dad shakes his head and strokes her back, he softly looks at his daughter before he started to speak to her:
“Yeah, you're stupid.” He said confidently, Astrid lifts her head up and glared at him before he continue. “But you just need some techniques that work with you.”
“I guess…” Astrid said, lifting her head up. She knew that her dad was right and she understood what her dad meant, however she still felt disappointed for not solving something so easy. Astrid sighed before standing up and walking away. “I’m going outside to walk. I need a break from math.”
“Okay, but put on a jacket.” Dad told her, turning his head around and making sure she put it on. She nodded and took her raven blue autumn jacket, then put her favourite white shoes on.
“Be careful, I've heard there are giant robots out on nights on conspiracy websites.” Her dad teased her, she rolled her eyes gleefully.
“Like something like that would happen here, nothing happens here Dad.” She responded unbothered and said goodbye. Astrid opened the door, the cold November air embraced her as she got out of the cabin. She walked into the woods, the forest that she has walked many times. The same woods that the most dangerous creatures are wild boars that are too shy to be near humans and vipers that are sleeping underground because of the cold air.
She remembered when she was a little, she and her older brother Casper were here to pick mushrooms and they found a part of a boar’s tusk. Younger Astrid had it in her hand and pondered before asking her brother:
“Casp, why do boars have tusks?”
“To look scary to other boars and animals.” He responded and picked up a mushroom.
“Why do they need to be scary?” She brought up another question and eyed down the tusk. Casper glanced back before answering.
“Probably to survive, but that doesn’t mean they are all scary. They are just as scared of us as we are scared of them.”
“That’s silly they wouldn’t be scared of me.” She voiced out her thoughts in disbelief, she is really nice so why would they be scared? Her brother looked back at her with a smirk.
“Of course they won’t, not even a deer would. You would be scared of them”
Both of them bantered until a bit and continued with mushroom picking. It’s a memory that she holds dearly.
Astrid continued to wander deeper into the woods, the soft light from the moon lit up the forest and the cold autumn air bringed a calming presence to anyone who sought it. She took a deep breath and was about to go home before she heard a sound.
“Vad fan?” Astrid thought out loud and turned her head in the direction of the sound. The sound was heavy, like something was stomped and it wasn’t that far away. Her curiosity got the better of her and she moved to the direction of the heavy stopping, the calming forest slowly became eerie as she moved. The stomps became louder and heavier with the sound of metal appeared as Astrid came closer. Questions raised threw her head. What made those sounds? How big was it? What was it doing here?
The closer she got the heavier the stomps became and then she felt a creep of danger come up on her back up to her neck. She felt uneasy however she was already this far and Astrid didn't want to go back yet, she needed to know what made those noises.
She stopped suddenly. She found what she was sought for and began to hold her breath as if the cool pleasant air was choked her. It was still somewhat dark however, she saw something tall or even taller than the pine trees around it. It was a gigantic robot, ironically enough. The robot had a strong frame and a muted green colour to its sheet metal, its back facing towards her. Astrid ran behind one of the trees and had her hand over her mouth, her heart raised and she questioned her own reality.
‘Dad damn conspiracy websites were right, do aliens exist now?’ She thought and peaked out, she tried to listen for anything from the robot. It made noises that Astrid had never heard before, it was odd and disturbing in a way. The green robot looked like it spoke into something, its mechanical hand was at the side of his head. It made more clatter until a word came out or a name, Miko. How it said the name was still mechanical but she heard it clearly.
Astrid walked a bit closer, she used the trees around her as cover and made sure she avoided every stick or branch as she passed. She got a better look at the metal giant, it had a strong jaw and bright cyan-blue eyes. She looked at it, her being distracted she stumbled on a rock and fell with a loud thought. Her heart raised even more and silently panicked.
“ShitShitShit-” Astrid panicked mutter forced out of her as she quickly got up, she sat up and froze as she felt a pair of eyes was on her. She didn’t look and her breath grew faster at the same time she couldn't breath. She was already scared yet she got terrified when she heard the robot that made weird noises spoke perfect english.
“Scarp.”
