Summary:

It is the summer of 1402 and Lord Hans Capon has just found out that he's engaged to be married to Lady Jitka of Kunstadt, a woman he's never met. Faced with a life spent chained to a stranger he doesn't want and a role he abhors, he flees to Skalitz, where a meeting with the blacksmith's son, Henry, will change his life forever.

He doesn't know it yet, but his wish to escape a certain fate, locks him to another, an adventure filled with pain, joy, love and betrayal, wilder than those he read even in his books of legends.

Chapter 1: Author's Note - Welcome!

 

Hello and welcome to this fic!

I thought I'd take this space to give you a bit of an intro to this story. So as you might have deduced from the summary, the story starts in 1402, when Hans learns of his engagement to Jitka. After that, he flees to Skalitz, where he meets Henry before the game's timeline. And then... well, that's what the story is about!

Please note that the updates will occur once every two weeks, as I have a busy work schedule and I'm trying my best to keep up with this story and everything else (┬┬﹏┬┬) Also, this story is based primarily on the time before the first game, during it and then post-canon. The story also includes some graphic depictions of violence as well as attempted sexual assault in the first chapter, in addition to some period-typical attitudes and religious guilt. Please also take the historical context with a grain of salt and forgive any anachronisms. There might be some gaps in my research but well-meaning help is always welcome!
