Work Text:

D3rlord3 stared at a backed up Avery, right before the precipice. As the foolish slime lost his focus on the gladiator, he took a chance to save the life of this man who came to be his friend in such short amount of time. A very fell, being saved from the certain fate he was destined to.

But in having been saved, D3rlord3 was now bound to go through the path meant for Avery.

"... Foolish." A grand voice spoke from behind the gladiator. "You poor thing... Have you got any idea what you've done to yourself?" The king asked, descending from the shadows above and coming face to face with D3rlord3.

"Ah, but of course you do... You have the grandiose gift of knowledge, gift I've given to you so selflessly..." The King in yellow approached and leaned down, grabbing D3rlord3's cheek with his large hand. "You must know what comes now." D3rlord3's gaze became narrow, sharp as knives that he wished he could use to stab this eldritch being. "Come now, my dearest knight, lets become one, together forevermore."

D3rlod3 stood silent. "Bumbling moron.." He whispered. "You speak as if this is beneficial... You know we will both meet our end." The gladiator flinched away, slapping the hand far from his face. The King only chuckled. "Fierce, even in the face of destiny itself, are we? This is why you've caught my eye the way you did."

The King leaned back, opening his arms as if it was an invite. "Don't you wish for release? For your weary, tired body to finally find some peace? I know how bad you ache, how your bones feel as thin as thread, the way your skin begins to rot.." The King opened his robe, showing off his bare chest. A cavity opened, ribs out and heart barely beating. "I too am afflicted... You see, we're not meant to be together." D3rlord3's eyes widened ever so slightly. "But oh... How right it feels... To be one with you..." The King's eldritch tendrils began to slither through the ground, each one catching on one of D3rlord3's limbs, although cold, something was comforting about them.

As if their embrace bought solace to a dying body.

D3rlord3 could feel his will weakening, being dragged slowly towards The King's arms. The promise of rest was tempting, it wasn't as if he had a choice anyway. With barely any reluctance left, D3rlord3 began to walk alongside the dragging tendrils, walking towards his doom. The King in yellow let out a pleasant chuckle as he slowly came down on his knees to receive his darling knight.

D3rlord3 stopped right in front of The King, staring him down before opening his own arms. "Lovely... Let us seal this union." The King lurched forward, catching D3rlord3 in his arms. The embrace, the feeling of such large arms wrapped around his body, it felt as if he was completely surrounded by warmth. "Give yourself to me, I'll give myself to you as well... My love shall be your grave."

Their bodies came together, starting to mold onto each other, slowly melting away and mixing together into one being whose only purpose is to die. "Is this what passing on feels like..?" D3rlord3 thought. He could feel how his flesh detached from his bones and mixed with The King's own putrid skin.

But it didn't hurt, quite the opposite.

The King pressed his forehead against D3rlord3's, he placed his hand on the gladiator's chest, feeling how his heartbeat began to slow down slowly, but steadily. "Soon, our hearts will beat as one." The King whispered.

D3rlord3 closed his eyes, the last thing he saw was The King's true face. Although incomprehensible, far beyond his understanding even with the vast knowledge given to him.

It no longer caused him excruciating pain, but peace, solace in his last moments.

"Lets go to heaven, Derek." The King pressed his chest against D3rlod3's, the barrier of skin and bone shedding away until their hearts engulfed one another, beginning to mold into one, beating as a singular organ.

The King held his knight in his arms quietly as they both began to feel how their intertwined bodies began to lose their lives at a pace. Going silently, the last thing they could hear was the very last beat of their shared heart in this twisted union.

And everything became dark, yet not cold.

They would be together, forevermore, nonexisting as one. Eternally embraced in each other's arms.
