Work Text:
Fushiguro jolts awake, for the third time in the past hour, he’s been trying to just have at least one peaceful hour of sleep. He’s been trying the same thing for the last hour, turning his phone on, opening Spotify, turning on his white noise playlist, and like clockwork, as soon as his eyes actually close, and he starts to drift off-
Itadori, who is sitting to the left of Fushiguro, very excitedly starts “AND THEN, the main character falls in love with the human earthworm guy, it’s a story about-“
Kugisaki, who is sitting to the right of Fushiguro, reaches across Fushiguro with a point of her finger, “Itadori, will you shut up already, that movie was disgusting, how many times have I told you already!!”
Of course, They were currently on a plane ride to god knows where because of course, why would the higher ups inform them of anything. The only information they were sent was their boarding passes, and that the people living in this town had reported some people seeing things and having this overwhelming sense of dread, and has just been spreading ever since the first sighting.
Fushiguro believed this might very well be the most agitating situation he had ever been in, stuck between two idiots, who clearly know nothing about plane etiquette.
Fushiguro is snapped out of his thinking with a nudge from the pink haired boy, “What do you think Fushiguro?? Was the movie really that bad, you guys really wouldn’t be willing to see it again with me?”
Kugisaki rolls her eyes, “Will you just please let it go, can’t you just accept the fact-“
Fushiguro lets his head fall back on the seat, and closes his eyes, “This is gonna be a long flight…”
Fushiguro is just about to turn to the last page of the book he’s been reading for the last three and a half hours, when he feels a heavy weight on his left shoulder.
When Fushiguro turns his head, itadori is perked up, flashing him his signature smile, “Oh man Fushiguro, that book was intense!! Do you have any more like that??”
Now, normally, Fushiguro would be annoyed by someone snooping in on his book time. With all the chaos that goes on in his life being a jujutsu sorcerer, reading allows him to be taken away from all of that and experience what it would be like to live a normal life, going to a normal school every day in a small town, coming back home everyday to his sister and his dog.
Itadori lays his head back on the spiked haired boys shoulder, “Come on Fushiguro, I know you packed loads of books! This is our time to really bond, you always spend time watching movies with me, so let me spend time with you doing your hobby.”
Fushiguro’s heart skips a beat, staring at Itadori like he’s just the brightest thing in the room. He just will never understand how Itadori can so casually say the most romantic things and just not seem to think anything of it, doesn’t he know this isn’t good for Fushiguro’s poor heart!
Fushiguro gulps, picking up his earbuds out of his lap, handing one to Itadori, “Well I wasn’t exactly prepared for a twelve hour flight, so I didn’t pack any other physical books, but I did download-”
Before Fushiguro can even finish his sentence, Itadori is already taking the left earbud out of his hand.
Fushiguro starts playing the audiobook, as he’s putting his earbud in, he considers that with everything that Itadori has been through in the past few months, he should experience the peaceful feeling that only reading can give, so just this once, Fushiguro will make an exception.
