Work Text:
Peter Parker woke up to a sun beam in his face. Much like one would see in a movie, that calm gentle shine, birds chirping, feeling suspiciously well rested. He lazily rolled over in bed. His nice, warm, comfortable bed at the tower. He hugged his pillow fully content to go back to sleep for as long as he could. He was on his feet rushing to get dressed.
He was going to be late for class! Peter rushed around his room like a tornado. The already messy room was almost better off with him flying about like a madman, that was until Pepper knocked on the door.
"Sweetie? What are you doing?" She said, not in her 'I'm the boss voice' but her motherly voice that she only reserved for Peter and occasionally his friends.
Peter swung the door open. His hair was a mess, shirt on inside out, and much to Pepper's amusement his shoes were mismatched. "Gotta get to class."
He tried pushing past her but she caught his arm. "Peter, it's summer. Your last day was yesterday, you have the day off."
"Day off?" He said the words but they didn't register. He was Spider-Man. He didn't do 'Days off'.
"Tony is at the Hong Kong branch and he specifically told you no lab time or Spider-Manning until he got back. School is out and besides it a Saturday. You have the day off young man." Her voice went into CEO mode for a moment. "And I expect you to use it well. Breakfast is in the kitchen. Steve made it so you better hurry up before it's all gone."
Pepper dropped Peter's arm and walked down the hall. Only then did he register she was still in her pajamas. He looked down at the oddly light backpack in his hand then did what he had been wanting to do all school year. He chucked it into the recesses of his closet.
He had the day off. What an odd idea. Peter dropped down on the bed for a moment. He wasn't sure what to do so naturally he got up and wandered down the hall to the kitchen where the noise of his family made him smile.
Cap was cooking up a storm while Bucky was trying to steal some bacon. Loki and Thor were bickering over the table as Dr. Banner sipped his coffee. It was chaos; Peter was so happy to be with his family. Aunt May was on a business trip otherwise she would be here too. He slid up next to Cap.
"Hey Cap, mind if-" Peter tried to grab a piece of toast but the super solider was having none of it. No way was he going to let some teenager (even if that teen was an Avenger) steal the food he was making before it was done.
"Don't even try it Spiderling." Said Nat who was sitting on the counter. "He won't let anyone get close."
Peter groaned. The chaos continued until breakfast was ready. Everyone was somewhat sat in a sort of civilized manner. Pepper at the head, Peter vibing on the celiing, Cap and Bucky sitting next to each other. Loki was tied to his chair by Thor and Dr. Banner was still sipping his coffee. Clint was still in a vent when Nat sat down. Peter never understood the vent thing but he was pretty sure that Clint had an actual nest in there.
"Alright" Said Cap as he set the last dish down on the table. "Let's eat!"
All Hell broke loose. Food, forks, and limbs flying everywhere. Peter used his webs to steal a bagel from Thor's plate which in turn cause the thunder god to somehow blame Loki. Which naturally lead to a small sibling fight. Good conversation and good food continued for a long while.
Breakfast finally ended and Peter was happy. He was hanging around the tower when he got an excellent idea. A wonderful idea™ one might say. He whipped out his phone, the newest Stark Phone of course, and sent a text to Ned and MJ. Whatever could go wrong?
Roughly thirty minutes late both his best friend and his girlfriend were at the tower. Ned was fanboying over everything even though he as the second highest level security clearance, only trumped by Peter, Tony, and Pepper. Ned if he wanted could quite literally go anywhere in the tower expect for Tony's private lab and even then FRIDAY would most likely let him in if he asked nicely. MJ was cool as a cucumber as always. She too had the same level of clearance as Ned.
The three of them were hanging out in the living room of the Avenger's Suite. For some unknown reason MJ knew Russian and was having a fluent conversation with Nat and Bucky. Peter knew a couple words and only managed to pick out the work for spider. Ned was geeking out over Star Wars. Peter was happy. His friends and family were getting along. He could just... relax.
What an odd feeling. Relaxing that is. Peter sat there quietly while he was talked over. He pondered on it then suddenly his spidey senses started tingling.
Clint had appeared behind him and put his hand on Peter's shoulder. "Enjoy it. You'll miss day's like these."
Peter nodded and chimed in on the conversation.
He was happy.
