The metal tower creaked, the two boys panted from exhaustion
"let's stop here" Mike said when they finally reached a platform,
Will tiredly nodded his head in agreement.
Mike twisted the cap off of the bottle gulping water down, he felt Will's eyes on him as he drank
" want some? It's a long way up" Mike asked wiping his mouth, holding the bottle out, the other boy gave him a smile then took it, it was quiet, almost peaceful, as the two boys looked out on a supernatural world with the sound of their other friends above them.
"I'm sorry" Mike whispered,
"what for?" Will asked figeting with the bottle cap,
" for what you said back at the radio station" he responded without looking at him " you're sorry that I 'don't like girls?' " Will questioned, a memory quickly played in his head as he realized he repeated the same words Mike had said to him on that rainy night,
Mike quickly turned his head to face him, eyes widened as he realized what he just said, he scrambled to fix his stupid mistake " shit that's.. that's not what I meant, I mean, not sorry about what your are, shit that came out wrong- No! not came out wrong.. Jesus"
Will's laugh cut him off, Mike buried his red face into his hands "Mike, it's okay" he said placing his hand on the other boys shoulder reassuringly,
Mike turned his head to look at him " no it's not okay , Im sorry that I was'ent there for you" he repeated as he place his hand on top of Will's "I guess I was just, so self absorbed I couldn't see it" he continued, staring at their hands.
Will looked at the boy next to him, he felt his hand on his, the warmth contrasted his own cold hand, he felt Mikes callous, felt one of his fingers gently rubbing his knuckle, Wills breath hitched in his throat, both their eyes met each other's, He swallowed unsure of what to say
"Can I ask who it is?" Mike said breaking the silence
"Huh?" Will respond confused
"the person you were talking about", Will face flooded with warmth
"well.. their my friend, they've been with me forever" he said a small smile growing on his face " he's funny, and smart, and he's got these- these eyes's, and.. he gets me, I used to think that he was just my Tammy but, hes so much more, but.."
his smile fell
" he's not like me, hes love with someone else and... i'm scared, I don't want to ruin our friendship by telling him but I can't deny that I'm in love with him" he said, unable to look at Mike,
~holy shit he's going to know, so much for being subtle~ he thought mortified.
Will felt Mikes gaze on him, but he couldn't get himself to meet his eyes, he dident want pity
"what a prick" Mike scoffed, breaking the silence
Will stared at him dumbfounded ~okay he's a total dumbass~ he thought, a small part of him relived, he chuckled
"yeah, he kind of is" Mike smiled at him,
"Hey lovebirds let's get a move on!" Robin yelled from the higher platform, the two boys eyes shot up, Will flushed and Mike laughed.
Will loved that laugh, he looked into his Mikes dark eyes, they were like a void that he could get lost in, he loved their talks, how Mike held his hand, their embraces, he loved the way Mike looked at him like he was the only person worth looking at, and he desperately hoped that he would never look at anyone else like that, he inhaled shakily, determination filled him, he dident want to look back at this moment with regret,
"Hey Mike, can I ask you something?"he said meeting Mikes eyes
"sure, what is it"
he looked at Mikes face, savoring this last moment before everything came crashing down
"i-if your friend told you they liked you what would you do?" He watch in worried anticipation, tears threatening to flow,
Mike furrowed his eyebrows deep in thought, " did someone tell you they liked you?" He asked,
a moment of silence passed between them,
Will burst into tears
" OH SHIT!" Mike shouted rushing over to comfort him,
" What the fuck did you do!?" They heard Steve yell,
Will dident know why that made him cry it just did,
"God, you're so dense" he sniffed
"huh?"
Will wiped his eyes "Mike, I like you"
"I-" Mike started "
"Mike" He said cutting him off before he said anything stupid
"your the 'friend' I was talking about, and I know you don't feel the same way, and its fine, it will pass "
he lied
"I-I just wanted to get this off my chest, I hope we can still be friends" he said forcing a smile,
Mike looked at Will, processing his confession, eyes searching for an answer
"Friends, no thanks" Mike said with a straight face,
Wills smile faltered ~shit,shit,shit way to go, you just ruined things with your friend~ he dident want to stay there anymore ,but his feet wouldn't move,
Mike grabbed wills forearms and pulled him into a tight hug, he pulled his head back to be face to face with him, gently taking hold of his hands,
"Will" he said his name slow like he was thinking over his nexts words, Will could see tears in the corner of his eyes
"l don't want to be some passing crush, I don't want to be your Tammy, and I don't want to be friends, I-I want to be something more"as he said those words he softly cupped Wills face with his hands
Wills brain short circuited, he felt Mikes thumb caressing his cheek " What- what do you mean, you- you like me!?!"
Mike nodded "of course i like you, why wouldn't I?" He looked deep into to wills eyes,
Mikes brows were ferrowed, " Will, I love you" he said those words without stuttering, like he had thought about it many times
"mike?" Will whispered
"Yes?" Mike whispered back "
"can I kiss you?"
" Please" mike said before closing the distance, he pressing his lips against the other boy's,
Will melted against his lips, Mikes arms were around Will, he held him tight, like will would disappear if he didn't ... Will clung onto him as the only solid thing in a dizzy swaying world, he ran his fingers through Mike hair pulling him closer to deepening the kiss, Mike nipped at wills bottom lip pulling a small groan from him.
"what the hells holding you guys uuuuuu- oh shit "their kiss was broken by Steve who was looking down at them eyes wide, he looked at the two boys tangled in each others arms but neither pulled away, robin, Dustin, and Lucas popped their heads over to see what the commotion was,
Dustin's jaw dropped, an exited
"I knew it!!!" came from Lucas, Robin grinned
" Steve get your ass over here" Robin said pulling him away by his ear, she quickly glanced down at the two boys and shot them a quick thumbs up,
Dustin smiled "yeah, don't act like you havent done that before".
The two boys eyes drifted back to each other
"Soooo I'm the 'prick' huh?"Mike said teasing,
will rolled his eyes "hey! those were your words not mine" he shot back grinning
"uh huh" Mike responded before dipping back into another kiss ,
will laughed into the kiss, it was softer then before ,less rushed, like they were enjoying just being in each others presence, Mike pulled away peppering small kisses across Wills face, I love yous sprinkled in between each kiss
" Jesus, can you guys finish this later, we kind of have a job to do!" they heard someone shout
The boys blushed as they broke away from each other, Will grabbed the first of many rungs to the ladder, he looked down at Mike, the boy he was in love with and who loved him back, he hoped that Mike would give him the strength to free them all from Vecna.
