Chapter Text
He ran as he heard footsteps following fast. He ducked in a bush, hoping they didn’t notice.
“HE RAN THAT WAY, GO!” The man with the large shield yelled. ‘Holy, that was close’ he thought. He forced himself down lower as more men were running past him. He stood up as the steps were now far enough. He brushed off his shirt and started walking to the palace he was previously in. “Ha! Better luck next time.” He said, snickering as he put on speed, slipping through the door.
The hall was dark as he walked across the hard wood floor, creaking under his weight. ‘Yeesh man, this place smells like rot and dead body’s.’ he thought to himself, plugging his nose in the process. BANG!
He froze, quickly looking around. ‘Shit, what was that!?’ Could it be a shotgun? Or maybe something fell? Well whatever it was he needed to move fast. He ran to a nearby hiding place under a small table, trying to make himself as invisible as the darkness would let him. He waited there for what felt like hours, waiting for whatever made the loud bang.
…
THUD.
He held his breath, hoping his heart wasn't as loud as it felt. Sweat rolled down his face,
but he didn't move. He saw what made the loud sound; a hybrid.
‘What the—’ he whispered, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open at the sight of the beast.
Its unnaturally long claws, seemingly sharp enough to cut through skin with such a single graze.
It growled, a low hum packed with despair and anticipation which filled the room.
He whimpered at the sheer terrifying look of this hybrid, it was nothing like how he imagined.
He quickly covered his mouth in a panic. He pushed himself against the floor. Attempting to hide himself further than he already tried to. The creature has a devastating aura.
It stopped in front of the table.
“You aren’t very good at hiding, mortal.” the hybrid said, in a deep gut-wrenching voice.
He froze.
‘W-what..? How did it know I was here..?’
“Come out, I’ve already found you. No use in hiding.” the hybrid growled, it started towards the fearful spy hiding under the hall table. No longer as hidden as he wanted to be. He slowly crawled out from under the dirty table; trembling as he dusted off his shirt, also not taking his eyes off the creature.
He tried thinking of a way to escape, there was no way he could get caught by the hybrid.
He had to act fast.
