Work Text:
They had been close before, this was no different.
They laid in bed together, Jack’s arms wrapped around his friend while Dave burrowed into his chest, purring like a cat.
It wasn’t like this was an abnormal occurrence for the two. Jack put all of his ideas and concepts about how Dave could feel to the side. Jack wasn’t in love with Dave. And Dave wasn’t in love with Jack.
And they lived happily ever after as normal, regular friends who didn’t have feelings for each other at all. The end.
Dave grabbing around his chest and pulling him closer jostled Jack back to his surroundings. Dave nuzzled himself into Jack’s chest, seeking his warmth and comfort and sweet citrusy smell.
Dave had always been openly affectionate towards Jack, calling him pet names and grabbing his hand and being blissfully unaware of how all of this affected the poor orange fellow.
Jack had never been openly affectionate with Dave. He was just following along, never initiating anything. He thought Dave was just weird at first, but he- he was just so… close
Dave sat up on his elbows to face Jack, slowed down by the fatigue of another thrilling Vegas trip. His wiry hair brushing up against Jack’s face as Dave looked down at him, hovering directly above Jack’s head.
They’d just arrived back at Jack’s house after their second trip and wound up in his bedroom, exhausted and satisfied with their shenanigans.
It was easier to forget how intimately close Dave was when he wasn’t looking directly into Jack’s eyes, flickering his gaze to look all around Jack’s face. His hair, his ears, his lips. He sure was pretty, wasn’t he?
He spoke in a smooth New York accent, “Hey uh- Sportsy… can I kiss you?”
A simple request that sent a shiver down Jack’s spine and had his mind reeling.
Dave. The Dave. This horrible purple man. The one who had always been so forward and friendly and honest with him, wanted to kiss him. The Dave he worked with, the man he had killed with. Wanted to kiss him. Jack. Of all people.
Based on the look on Dave’s face, Jack guessed his own expression wasn’t very positive- what did he want?
“Sorry. You don’t have to, it’s just we’ve been so close and I just thought- ah, forget what I thought.”
Dave was close.
He couldn’t say yes. It wouldn’t be fair to let himself believe Dave could feel affectionate towards him but at the same time he wanted it.
Jack let his hands absentmindedly run through Dave’s hair, playing with it and twirling it. Hopefully it gave Dave some hope. Jack didn’t even know how he wanted to proceed. What if this one simple act ruined their entire friendship?
Jack was uncertain but he tried to hide it as he met Dave’s gaze. It wasn’t like Jack hadn’t expected this to happen sometime or another, especially with how close Dave had been. Jack was sure he’d get curious eventually, like he always did. True feelings never had anything to do with these kinds of things when it came to Dave.
“Why?”
Dave searched his tangerine assailant’s face for any read on his emotions but found nothing. Jack was good at hiding things when he needed to. That was part of the reason why Dave had been so eager to recruit him but now it proved to not work in his favor. He frowned.
“Well Old Sport I suppose I just wanted to kiss you. I mean, we’ve been getting real close and going to Vegas together and killing those kids… I don’t know Jack. I suppose I just want to know what you want.”
His voice faltered a bit when he spoke as if he was just as nervous as the man below him. Maybe he was, even though he’d likely never admit it. He was cute when he was nervous, at least if you asked Jack.
“Fine. But just this once Dave, and if you don’t like it just… keep it to yourself. Okay?”
Jack pulled Dave down, letting their lips graze against each other’s. It felt electric, like someone had shot caffeine straight into Jack’s veins and he hesitated. This gave Dave enough time to close the small gap and kiss Jack with all the effort he could muster without smushing him against the pillows.
Dave brought his hand up to Jack’s chin to steady his head and tilt him to the right angle to allow Dave to take over. It felt almost as if Jack was getting swept off his feet by a rushing river that he’d gladly drown in.
When Dave finally pulled back Jack’s breath came out all at once. He hadn’t even realized he’d been holding it. He reached back up, attempting to steal another kiss, but instead of reciprocating the aubergine man pulled away and snickered.
“Oh Sports, I didn’t anticipate you enjoying that even more than I did!”
Jack scoffed and pushed Dave off of him to sit up against the bed frame and crossed his arms.
“I told you that if you didn’t like it you should keep it to yourself.”
Dave’s cocky grin faded at that, and he stumbled over himself to get back to his now-gloomy looking tangerine.
“Sportsy… I didn’t mean it like an insult-” He said, bringing his hand up to rest on Jack’s shoulder. He shied away from the touch, arms still crossed and facing away from Dave.
“If you want to do it again we can. It was pretty nice… I just couldn’t enjoy it cus I’m not one of them queers!”
Dave wasn’t a bad liar per se, but when you spend as much time with the guy as Jack does it’s easy to tell when he just doesn’t want to admit something. It made Jack smile whenever Dave would say something about him not liking men at least a little. He was so adamant about it that it was obvious he was just in denial, especially along with the things he said and did. Hell, he had just asked to kiss another man.
“Let’s just lay back down Dave. We can relax together a little while, then you can go home.”
The sun had just begun to set and it bathed the room in lovely bright yellows and oranges as the two men went back to laying together with their arms around each other.
As the minutes stretched by Jack felt Dave’s breathing slow and steady as he fell asleep. It wasn’t a huge deal, but he would have to wake the purple man up when it was time for him to go home.
Dave mumbled something in his sleep and snuggled closer, squishing Jack in his embrace.
Maybe it would be okay if he stayed the night.
Next Morning
(Smut time, hehe)
Jack woke up to sunlight shining straight into his eyes through the window he forgot to shut last night. He turned away to hold his pillow tighter and closed his eyes. Just then, he heard what he thought was his pillow grumble as it was jostled around. Jack jumped up and away from the wiggling blob under his covers as he slowly began to remember last night.
“Sportsyyyyyy- this isn’t any way to treat ol’ Davey now is it?”
Jack smiled and returned to his position lying next to Dave so the purple man could put his arms around the orange one and pulled him closer. Dave was groggy, way groggier than Jack would imagine him being after getting what felt like thirty years of sleep.
“Mmm, this ‘s better Sports. Don’t you ever try to run away from me again, m’kay.”
Dave reached his head up to kiss Jack on the lips, eliciting a small surprised yelp from him. Jack pulled back to look at Dave in confusion and a bit of flustered surprise.
“Dave… what was that for?”
Dave stared right into Jack's eyes with a loopy, almost drunk expression and smiled hesitantly.
“Well ‘s cus I love you-”
Jack nearly had a heart attack hearing that and Dave giggled- he giggled. Either he was drunk or Jack was hallucinating. He smelled like liquor too. Knowing Dave, he probably broke into Jack’s kitchen in the middle of the night or brought it from home.
“Dave I know you wouldn’t just say something like that,” he said, moving away “If you’re drunk I don’t want to kiss you.”
Unfortunately for Jack, the aubergine man didn’t handle rejection very well. He furrowed his eyebrows and his wonky expression turned sour. He honestly looked more like a kicked puppy than a human.
Instead of backing off like Jack requested he just stayed put and gave him his best impression of puppy dog eyes.
“No.”
“You haven’t even heard me out yet.”
Jack sighed and rolled his eyes but motioned for Dave to state his case.
“Okay Sports, if I really don’t love you and don’t wanna kiss you and just said that cus I’m drunk then why would I ask you to kiss me last night? And you know I wouldn’t lie to you.”
Jack did not, in fact, know that Dave wouldn’t lie to him. It actually seemed exactly like something Dave would do. It wasn’t as if Jack didn’t want to feed into whatever was wrong with Dave but for whatever reason it felt wrong. Maybe it was because they were supposed to be just friends or because Dave was definitely at least a little drunk. But then again, he’s sure nothing bad would happen if he entertained Dave one time.
“Fine Dave. What do you want?”
Dave looked towards the other side of the room with a thoughtful expression. The room wasn’t anything to brag about, but it looked like a place Jack would live in. Dave liked that about it, it wasn’t fancy or pretty, just a few posters on the wall. He turned his attention back towards Jack.
“Well first I want you to tell me you love me!”
God Jack was confused. He could have never anticipated someone like Dave to want his approval or affection in any way.
“Okay Dave, I love you.”
Dave snuck his hand into Jack’s hair at the back of his head and started caressing it as he muttered a reply. It was small but in the silent room Jack could hear what Dave said clear as day.
“I want to kiss you again.”
“But I want you to want it.”, another quiet sentence.
Jack considered his options, Dave was probably telling the truth by now if he went this far and Jack felt better with that little bit of reassurance. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to share another intimate moment with him, just this once. An orange hand ran over Dave’s hair as the other wrapped around his shoulders, holding him and bringing him forward to lay on Jack’s chest.
This time it was Jack’s job to close the distance between them. This time it had to be something he wanted to do.
And he did.
Jack used the hand in Dave’s hair to pull him down and kiss him a little harder than intended. Dave was the one to pull away and he seemed… unsteady? It might’ve been Jack’s imagination but he seemed to be shaking a little bit.
Dave’s heart was beating out of his chest, he was sure it would hurt if his adrenaline hadn’t kicked in at the same time. Jack wants me?
He laid both his hands across the orange man’s chest near his shoulders, playing with the collar of his silly neon shirt. They hadn’t bothered to change when they fell asleep last night and in a weird way Dave was glad, he liked how this shirt looked on his old sport.
“Dave.” Jack cleared his throat, “How was that?”
Dave looked at Jack with wide hopeful eyes as if he had just realized something profound.
“Sportsy… you don’t have to say or do anything about it but there’s something I want to tell you.”
Jack smiled and tilted his head.
“What is it, Davey?”
Dave went back to focusing on fidgeting with Jack’s shirt collar as he hesitated to voice his thoughts.
“I just- I want you to know that I want you Jack. I want your body and your heart and your everything.”
When Dave looked back up Jack was a redder shade than usual, still painfully orange though. Dave’s smile came back and it was his turn to blush and laugh.
“Old Sport you look ridiculous-”
Jack snickered and brought Dave back towards him for another kiss. This time he tried to start slower, but it ended up not making any difference since Dave turned it rough again. The purple man ran his hands over Jack's chest and felt him exhale.
Dave released Jack’s mouth only to move down and kiss along his jawline. Reaching Jack’s neck, he decided to try licking at the soft skin and felt the orange man tense underneath him. It made him smile knowing his old sport would let him make him feel good.
Moving lower on Jack’s neck, he ran into his orange shirt collar and went to unbutton it. Jack threw his hands up, breathless and shaking like Dave was prior.
“Dave are you sure-”
Dave cut him off by quickly kissing him on the lips again.
“I promise I’m sure Jack. I’ll take good care of you.”
Jack put his hands back down slowly and leaned farther back into the pillows, letting Dave continue his little onslaught of kisses and licks.
Dave moved to slide Jack’s tie out of where it was nestled and undo his neon orange shirt collar. Dave continued mapping out Jack’s upper body with his mouth, along his collar bones and down his chest, stopping to give extra attention to any places that made him whimper or tense up and undoing buttons as he went.
When Dave came to the middle of Jack’s chest, he stopped. He eyed the other’s bare skin with a bit of reverence. The scars from a past accident winding their way over his skin in an almost artistic pattern. Looking at them, Dave got the sudden urge to leave marks himself. Claim Jack as his, leave marks to prove it to anyone else who dares to lay their hands on him like this.
Dave moved back up to the corner of Jack’s neck and bit down, sucking a bruise into his skin. He felt Jack tense and breath out heavily as he worked, the prickling stinging sensation turning to a steady heat as Dave pulled away and licked across the mark apologetically.
Dave moved across Jack’s torso to leave more marks on him. One on his shoulder, another lower down, until he came to Jack’s nipples. He curiously brushed his thumb across one of them, listening to Jack’s reaction to make sure he was enjoying himself. Jack wasn’t showing any signs of discomfort, in fact his head had been thrown back against the pillows and he was panting.
Dave took all this as a sign to continue and tried kissing one of Jack’s nipples, shivering in reaction to the noise he made when Dave made contact. Dave continued using his tongue, taking the other in his hand and rolling the sensitive bud in his fingers, being as careful as he could. After some time he switched sides, giving the other the same attention.
Once he was done, Dave pulled back and surveyed his work. This time though, Jack’s head wasn’t thrown back against the pillows anymore, instead he was propped up to stare directly into Dave’s eyes with his glowing white pupils blown wide.
All things considered, Dave was fairly proud of what he was able to accomplish. His orange accomplice was red all the way to his ears and looked completely disheveled.
“Dave…” Jack’s voice was low and quiet, it consumed Dave’s attention and forced him out of his thoughts. “You should keep going- actually please don’t stop.”
“Well of course Sportsy, I want to. What do you want me to do?”
Dave kept his attention focused, wanting to show Jack he was listening, show he cared, prove that he actually did love Jack.
“I, um- I don’t know, do you want to just… improvise? I mean you’ve never been with a guy but I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out how to use your hands just fine.”
Dave looked Jack up and down. He didn’t look too intimidating, but then again he hadn’t undressed fully yet. Dave just slowly nodded, moving to place his hands on Jack’s belt. Dave pushed Jack's legs apart to make room to kneel between them, slowly undoing his belt and tossing it to the floor, aiming for somewhere by his tie.
With Jack’s belt out of the way, Dave ran his hands over Jack’s waist, one resting on his hip while the other undid his pants. Dave went slowly as Jack watched his movements, eyes glowing brightly. Unfortunately in their position, Jack had to move to properly get his pants off, unceremoniously wriggling around until they were discarded on the floor with his belt and tie. When they settled back down to resume their previous activity Dave raked his eyes across Jack’s body.
Dave swore under his breath. It had become clear that he really didn’t know what he was doing. Jack splayed out on his back before him, and it wasn’t as if Dave didn’t like what he saw. Jack’s expression was a little nervous but definitely eager, he had an obvious tent in his boxers with a spot of precum creating a dark splotch on the tip. Despite his inexperience and nerves, Dave was still optimistic and confident he'd be able to go through with what he’d started.
He put his hands back on Jack’s hips and brought them down to his thighs, running his hands along Jack’s sensitive, hot skin. Dave decided to test the waters by leaning down to kiss Jack’s tip. The sound the orange man let out made Dave’s cock twitch and he immediately bent back down to repeat the action.
“You- mmmh- you’re torturing me here Davey~”
The way Jack said his name always managed to make Dave physically heat up, which was mildly impressive considering he wasn’t entirely human. Dave knew that Jack was being honest, he was really taking it slower than he would if Jack was just some Vegas stripper but that was to make sure his old sport had the best time possible!
Deciding to get on with it, Dave reached his hands up to Jack’s waist, slipping a finger into the band of his boxers. Looking up at his old sport and wordlessly asking permission.
“Wait Davey, you’re… overdressed.”
Dave sat back up and tilted his head at Jack, “What do you mean Sports?”
Jack grabbed Dave’s tie and pulled the aubergine man up to his eye level.
“I mean Dave,” He said as he rolled them both over, reversing their position and setting himself on Dave’s lap to better get at his shirt “These have to go.”
This time it was Jack’s turn to slide off Dave’s tie and unbutton his shirt, taking a moment to appreciate the body under him. Dave was in no way conventionally attractive, he had eye bags and his ribs looked as if they would tear out from under his thin skin but through orange eyes he was gorgeous.
After getting stripped down to his boxers, Dave tried to sit up and get back to their previous position only to be met with a hand against his chest pushing him back down. The orange hand traveled up to his face to ghost across his skin. The sensation made him red, he couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt a soft touch like this one. He could feel his heart beating against his chest and having his partner above him like this was going to drive him crazy.
He could feel Jack’s other hand making its way to Dave’s crotch and he knew he was done for. The tangerine man leaned in close enough that their breath intermingled for a moment before a hushed “I love you” fell from his lips and he brought Dave’s lips against his, pushing his tongue into the other’s mouth.
Jack pulled back, allowing the other to breathe while he moved his way down as Dave had done, albeit a lot more efficiently. Dave finally understood what made Jack melt as he felt the shivers and heat coming off of himself whenever the other’s mouth grazed his skin. Jack used the hand on Dave’s head to sneak up and grab his hair and force his head back, sending sparks of pain and pleasure all the way down his body.
“Nnn Sportsyyyyyy~ please this is unbearable- Jack, please…”
Jack pulled himself up to look Dave in the eyes, smirking.
“‘Please’ what Dave? So worked up already- Doesn’t feel very good to be at someone's mercy, does it Davey ?”
Dave whimpered a little at his words but luckily Jack didn’t seem hellbent on making him suffer, at least not this time.
Moving lower, Jack took off Dave’s boxers making him feel exposed in the best possible way. Dave’s body was burning up under Jack’s gaze, he felt as if he was a deer in headlights. Frozen by the bright eyes trained on his body.
Jack moved to the edge of the bed, instructing Dave to sit there and getting on his knees on the floor. Dave felt dizzy while he watched Jack push apart his thighs to leave kisses all the way up his inner thighs, stopping before where Dave wanted him.
“You really are needy Dave, you know that right?”
Jack watched closely as his partner’s body reacted to his words and actions, twitching and shaking all over.
“Don’t stop Sportsy- I do need you-”
Jack recognized the strain in Dave’s voice and started his work, taking Dave’s head in his mouth and teasing across it with his tongue. The purple man threw his head back and tried his best to keep his hips in place as the mouth around him dipped down and back up again like Jack was trying to make Dave lose his mind.
“Hahh- fuck, nnh Sportsy…”
Dave brought his hand to tangerine hair and gripped it hard, earning himself a moan from the man around him. The sound sent him reeling, feeling the vibrations making their way up his body as red hot pleasure and he could tell he definitely wasn’t going to last long like this. He felt his hips grind up as he got the urge to buck into the warm, wet heat surrounding him.
Jack had to pin Dave’s hips down with one of his hands to keep him in place, leaving the other free to pleasure himself. Jack slipped a hand into his boxers, stroking himself slowly as he sucked the other man off.
Dave’s perspective was immaculate. He watched Jack’s eyes, weighed down by pleasure, focused entirely on him. It seemed as though he were trying to say “Look how good I am to you. Look how good I can make you feel”. Dave wanted to praise him. Wanted to say “Yes, you’re doing so good, you’re so good to me” but as Jack’s tongue worked against him while he moved up and down the words seemed to be ripped from his mouth. Instead all he could get out was a broken groan as he felt was his pleasure bubbling over as that tongue worked magic. He dragged Jack down by the hair, locking him there while he saw stars for a moment. He fell back against the bed, exhausted.
Dave must’ve blacked out for a split second or just been too blissed out to pay attention because next thing he knew he was lying on the bed with Jack by his side, petting his hair. His body felt limp and his limbs refused to obey him so he just snuggled closer towards the orange man, doing his best to soak up the last bit of warmth between the two.
The sunlight had come to rest over the entirety of the bed by the time they finished, letting them both rest in the warm rays. For once it was Jack who broke the silence first.
“So… uh, Dave. What does this make us?”
Dave mustered all his remaining strength to sit up and meet Jack’s eyes only to flop down again and mumble against the blankets.
“I don’t know Old Sport, I love you.”
Jack sighed, “I know. And I love you too Dave. A helluva lot.”
He sat up and stretched himself out, cracking his back in the process.
“Now, you look like you need sleep. I’ll get you something comfortable and clean to wear.”
Jack stood up and got dressed before exiting the room, leaving Dave alone with his thoughts. What did this make them? Dreary fucked-out Dave wanted them to be lovers but the more ‘reasonable’ side of him didn’t want that to happen because… because…
He struggled to form a coherent thought pattern as his mind begged for sleep. Jack came back in with a cup of water and a change of clean clothes. He set them on the edge of the bed before sitting next to his companion and laying a hand on his shoulder.
“Davey, I got you clean clothes and water. Can you sit up?”
Dave grumbled but pushed himself up against the headboard regardless, slouching and smiling at Jack with tired eyes. Jack crawled under the covers beside his companion and passed him the water.
Dave chuckled as he took the cup, “Much better than going to work, huh Sports?”
Jack shot up as if he’d sat on hot coals.
“SHIT- WE HAD WORK”
