“Sorry dude, something came up, I’m not gonna make it.” I sighed, staring at the video call on my tablet.
“I said I didn’t like dude anymore. And you don’t have to lie, I know all five of you didn’t suddenly run into issues all at the same time. If you didn’t want to come you could have just said it.” My friend on the other end squinted at me, before I visibly saw him get annoyed, dropping the act he was putting up.
“We told you not to invite that thing, but you did. I’m not gonna get turned into a pet for a birthday party du- or, you know what I mean.”
“Stop calling her a thing! She’s the only sophont who seems to actually care about me anymore! Have fun with whatever bullshit you’re doing instead, I’m gonna spend my night with a real friend!” I hung up before he could respond, throwing my tablet across the room onto my couch, barely missing the cake set up in the middle of my large coffee table.
Man, fuck those guys. Ever since I started hanging out with Miss Telifloria, they always act weird around me. She’s super nice, hell, she knows they are practically feral and she still doesn’t do anything to them! She even helped me with my gender issues (although thats a bit more of an ongoing project) but they think she’s evil or something. Oh, and that’s another thing, they don’t respect me being trans now! They keep using he instead of they and all this other bullshit!
I even limited my invitations to just Miss Telifloria and none of the other sophonts I was considering just so it wouldn’t freak them out as much. Although, I know most of those sophonts wouldn’t have accepted anyways. I sigh and look at the clock, 15 minutes till 5. It doesn’t matter anymore, she should be here any minute. I can just enjoy my night with her.
I’m fully aware of the end goal of all of this. I know someday I’m going to end up in her vines. Honestly? That fact brings me more comfort then I ever thought possible. I love that I can stumble through my new life now, cause whenever I need her, she’ll be there to catch me.

5:10. She’s not here. It, its fine right? She’ll be here, she promised. She wouldn’t miss this for the world…. just in case though, I should text her. But before I can, I hear a notification on my tablet, and I see a new text. Its her!
[Telitubby]: So sorry dear, I’m going to be a little more then an hour late. I’m preparing a small surprise for you, and its taking longer to finish then expected. I will be there as soon as I can, I promise.
She wants to surprise me! That’s so thoughtful! I love her so much, stars why doesn’t she just take me right now? Although really that’s the fun part, the fact we both want it but try and hold out as long as we can. I can’t wait for the day we both break. Or even better, the day only one of us can’t take it anymore. Either I beg her to take me, or she just can’t restrain herself and takes me right then.
As I dig in to some of the snacks I had prepared, now knowing I don’t have to wait for her to start eating, I look at the tv. It already has a movie I admitedly do like set up on it, but really I just picked an activity I knew all my “friends” would like. Maybe I should ask Mistr- Miss if she has any ideas for what we could do instead. Assuming she shows up.
Wait, what? Of course she’ll show up, she promised! But, but so did they, and they bailed on me. Oh stars, I shouldn’t be thinking about this. But it’s too late, my brain is flooding with different scenarios of her trying to avoid coming, of me sitting here until midnight waiting for her. I know I should go take some class e’s but, I don’t like taking any medicine unless its from Miss anymore. Oh stars, please get here soon Miss.

6:05. Well, this is it. I somehow drove her away. I always do this, I make people leave me for whatever reason. Why can’t I just be a normal person who sophonts want to be around? Why can’t-
“Hello dear! I’m here- Brianna? Brianna!” I snap my head up, tears falling down my face as I hear her voice. Mistress! I mean, uh, Miss! I scramble over to her, barely avoiding knocking over any of the decorations, wrapping myself around her leg as she reaches vines down to hug me.
“Miss! I thought you weren’t coming and I thought you hated me and I missed you so much please let me be your-“ I feel an injector slide into my arm, and suddenly all those horrible thoughts feel so much further away. I look up into her eyes, seeing her smile in an oddly sad way.
“I’m so sorry petal, I tried to get here as fast as I could, but there was a lot of work to be done. I’ll let you finish what you were saying soon enough, but first I want to give you your surprise, okay?” I nod, smiling up at her as she wipes the tears from my face.
“So, I had a little conversation with some of your friends, one I should have had a while ago. Don’t worry, they are in good hands now, but once I got that settled I realized we needed sophonts for the party! So I went and got your friends!” I look at her confused. Didn’t she just say all my friends were getting florted right now? I look past her as my front door swings open again, and in comes a wave of terrans and affini and khetari and xenra and oh my god thats a lot of sophonts.
Wait, I know all of these people! Some of them I was afraid to send invites to thinking they’d say no, some of them I didn’t invite for fear those jerks wouldn’t come if I did, but some of these people I didn’t even think would want to come! That’s my barista I talk to for hours every other morning, and the guy who runs that resturant I love, and wait, is that my static leader for the MMO I play? She doesn’t even live on this ship! I look up at Miss, tears in my eyes again.
“There’s so many sophonts who hold you near and dear to their hearts sweetie. Including me. Now, what would you like to do? We have the whole night to have fun dear!” I think for a few moments as everyone comes by and wishes me a happy birthday, patting my back, giving me hugs and- oh wow my static leader just grabbed my ass. I, definetly will be trying to spend more time with her later. Eventually I come up with an idea and look up to Miss again, smiling.

Okay so maybe “lets all play a bunch of VR games and then board games and then eat food” isn’t the most inventive thing in the world, but I had a blast! As the clock nears midnight, sophonts are busy finding the best place to get some sleep, while the affini compile blankets and pillows for everyone. As I help people get settled in, I feel a tap on my shoulder, and turn to see Miss walking outside to my balcony.
I follow behind her, seeing her tall feminine form bathed in moonlight. She looks down at me and smiles, crouching down onto one knee (although its slightly funny, cause she doesn’t really NEED legs).
“I have one more present for you sweetie. Here, open it!” She reaches into her form and pulls out a small wrapped box. I slowly open it, wondering what it could be, and I eventually see what looks like a small jewelery box. As I pop it open, I let out a gasp, almost dropping it. It’s a black and purple collar, a small heart shaped tag with my name engraved on it hanging from it, although the name isn’t quite the same as my current one, at least not yet. I look into the eyes of Miss, for once at the same height as her.
“I- I… Miss, are you asking me to be your floret?”
“That’s the best part of the gift dear. I’m not asking.” I feel her inject me with something as I moan, nearly falling over. She catches me in her vines, slowly latching on the brand new collar made just for me. Mistress not even asking and just taking me is so hot. Although jokes on her, I would have said yes anyways. She laughs as I hug her as closely as I can.
“Happy birthday dear.”
