Chapter 1: Crowley's POV

Chapter Text

After Aziraphale left and returned to heaven, Crowley was heartbroken, thinking his angel was never coming back. After a long and loud sobbing for about an hour and a half, Crowley talked to Nina and Maggie about what just happened. Crowley had decided to spend his days in his Bentley, drinking bottles of alcohol, while listening to “Queens Best Hits” on repeat. Occasionally Crowley would see things that would remind him of Aziraphale making him wonder what he could’ve changed in his actions to keep Aziraphale with him, making him have sleepless nights. As the days went on Crowley would slowly and eventually leave his Bentley to go to the pub or to ‘give me coffee or give me death’ to talk with Nina and even Maggie on certain occasions when she would be there after they would close up the shop. At the same time, Muriel would make sure that the customers wouldn’t buy any books, they were trying their best to run the shop but as they hadn’t been on earth for too long, and they didn’t know too much about humans and how they act, let alone how to run a bookshop, they were having some trouble.

After about two weeks of not having Aziraphale around, Crowley had written a note for Muriel about how to run the shop. After Muriel had finally remembered that the mailbox existed and saw the message Crowley had left, they didn’t have too much trouble after that. (A little something I wanted to add but didn't know how to add to it. Crowley had also ridden around in a yellow Bentley for about 4 days to cope before someone pointed it out and then he put it back to normal.)

After about a month of Aziraphale being gone, Crowley would start randomly visiting Muriel to ensure they were running the shop well. Soon the random days became a schedule that consisted of Crowley visiting Muriel on Sundays, Saturdays, and Wednesdays though on the days that Muriel would have trouble getting rid of the customers Crowley would help them out. Though the visits usually were just Crowley checking in for a minute before leaving right after, some were him hanging out with Muriel and teaching them how to do things like humans so they could blend in more.

2 Months after Aziraphale left Crowley and Muriel started talking more after Crowley had to help Muriel get rid of customers. Even with the advice Crowley had given Muriel, they were too innocent to get that amount of people to go away.

Around 3 months after Aziraphale left, Crowley had been thinking about that night again, playing it over and over in his mind so he had visited Muriel for comfort (though he would never admit it of course) even though it was a Monday. Muriel understood that Crowley needed to be around someone at this moment so they did their best to comfort him by making tea for them both, getting him a nice blanket from Aziraphale’s bed that was freshly washed and dried, and headphones so he could listen to music while they read books.
“Thank you, Muriel.” Crowley wrapped the blanket around him like a cocoon and held the cup of tea on his lap.
“Of course Mister Crowley!” Muriel sat down on Aziraphale’s old seat with a different blanket over their lap and their cup of tea sat on the side table next to them as they read one of Aziraphale’s favorite books.
Seeing Muriel act so much like Aziraphale made Crowley feel worse though he really couldn’t do anything about it besides sit in his sadness. Crowley looked around the room thinking about the moment again before seeing one of Aziraphale’s coats. Crowley quickly got and snatched it off its coat rack before sniffing in the smell of Aziraphale. Crowley wrapped the coat around him before sitting back down and covering himself with the blanket while he lay down before passing out.
