Water The Roses

Summary:

“But I feel so stupid 'cause you feel the same
And when I water the roses, I can't trust you to stay
So, here I lay 'neath the shimmering moon, just a love struck fool
What do I do, but wait for you?”

Title and summary from “Water the Roses” by Flavor Foley

Notes:

- I LOVE Gumi and recently this song has been STUCK in my head and I needed to make a fic inspired by it and A1P1 seemed to connect with that (except the lesbian divorce)
- Also this is short but I just needed to take this idea out of my head

Work Text:

If there’s one thing that Assimilation really feared was Andre leaving them.

Leaving them forever.

Because in any day, Andre’s programming could reset and he would leave Assimilation to return to his speedrunning.

Assimilation feared even more that if Andre returned to his old habits, he would be captured by the Admins, and they would have nothing to stop that from happening. They doesn’t even know where the Admins’ place is.

And it was a stupid thing to think when they’re silently enjoying the sunset with their boyfriend by their side. Assimilation always wondered if Andre was afraid of returning to his old obligation too.

Turning their head, Assimilation took some time to analyze Andre’s face. The deadpanned expression while gazing at the sunset. If Andre reset, would Assimilation notice before it was too late? Because Andre always does some mining when they need resources, if he does reset, would it be different?

Assimilation could feel their exposed heart beat faster with the anxiety consuming their being. Does Andre feel the same way when thinking about entity losing their self-control and trying to assimilate him?

A loud robotic sigh was heard by the taller being, taking their attention. Andre was looking directly at them.

<AndreW2002> youv been starin 2 long

“Have I, Andre? Is it bad, Andre?”

<AndreW2002> no prob

<AndreW2002> just weird

<AndreW2002> whats on ur mind

Assimilation thought that with that question, their anxiety would disappear. It did not. It actually just made it worse. How could they explain to Andre that they didn’t trust him truly?

But was it a matter of trust or a matter of possibility? It wasn’t Andre’s fault that he was built that way. Assimilation feared that Andre would be stopped from being himself, not that Andre would betray them.

“I fear that there’s a possibility that your programming can get reset to what you were before, Andre.” - Assimilation stated, feeling their heart beat start to calm down. - “And I’m more afraid of not noticing before it’s too late, Andre.”

Andre didn’t answer; he looked at Assimilation, studying their gestures and body language, before hugging the entity. The taller being got surprised at first but reciprocated the hug.

<AndreW2002> i trust u

<AndreW2002> to take me back

<AndreW2002> if needed

This time it was the entity who didn’t answer. They pressed their non-existent lips against Andre’s metallic cheek, and the android could feel the water from Assimilation’s eye fall on his “skin”’s surface.

<AndreW2002> u know

<AndreW2002> sometimes believe

<AndreW2002> that u’ll assimilate me

<AndreW2002> but i trust u

<AndreW2002> to hear me

Assimilation distanced themselves from the robot, processing the information they had just received. It looked like their theory was right. But it seemed like Andre was way better at dealing with this question than they were.

“I trust you too, Andre. I trust you to take me back just as you trust me to take you back, Andre.” - Assimilation said, smiling with their eye.

They passed the rest of the day there, waiting until night, appreciating each other’s presence.
