Work Text:
Do La-ik felt lost. Not physically, but mentally.
Woo-seong didn’t deserve this. Why couldn’t it have been me?
He was trying his best not to let it show to his lawyer.
“Mr. Do La-ik, you look uneasy. Do you need a break?”
His best wasn’t very good right now.
“I’m fine, Maeng. It’s just crowded today.”
The street did seem busy today, what with the curious paparazzi, the confident businesspeople, the four foot tall squid heading towards him, the obnoxious bullies...
...Something’s off here.
“Hello, friend!”, greeted the squid.
Se-na glanced at the squid, then at La-ik inquisitively.
La-ik said, “I have no idea who this is.”
He barely held himself together as he tried to process what he was seeing. Heck, how was Se-na so nonchalant about this?
The squid responded, “C’mon now, I’m a friend to all famous people! You need me after all.”
La-ik was getting really unnerved by this thing. Did it know something he didn’t?
The squid continued closer, “I’ve got the special sauce that makes everything better. As long as you reel me in.”
“That’s enough of that,” told Se-na, “Unless you want to be reported for violating personal space. There’s lots of witnesses too.”
The squid stopped in its tracks, and drooped its fangs, “Get a load of this!”, as it awkwardly dipped into an intersection.
La-ik felt like he was really missing his meds, but then Se-na placed her arm on his shoulder.
“It’s okay, La-ik. Everyone may be trying to push your buttons, but as long as I’m your lawyer, I’ll defend you.”
“...Thanks, Se-na. That really means a lot.”
She really has my back. Maybe we can do this.
