This Work is based on quote drabbles I post on my thread's account. This is the written version of a Podfic, which will be uploaded at a later date.

Work Text:

“Okay, do we have everything we need for the party?” Jisung asked in a rush as he moved from place to place.

His and Minho’s dorm had been mostly quiet the whole day. Mostly quiet in the sense that it hadn’t been silent at all. Jisung had been the cause of most of the noise. It wasn’t his fault; there was just so much that needed to be done.

Jisung and Minho were supposed to be meeting all the other members of their group at Chan and Jeongin’s dorm for a small get-together. They were supposed to be meeting for a surprise party for Chan’s birthday, just a small thing with the group, even though it wasn’t officially Chan’s birthday, but with how hectic their schedules could be, it seemed like if they actually wanted to have any sort of get together, now was going to be the best time.

The problem was that they were supposed to be at the dorm by five thirty, but it was already five fifteen, and they still weren't ready to go. Jisung was busy going through the box of things he had gathered, snacks he and Minho were supposed to bring, a few decorations, trying to make sure everything was there, when suddenly he spotted something.

At the bottom of the bag was Chan’s birthday present, still unwrapped.

“Crap, I still have to wrap Bang Chan’s present,” Jisung said, grabbing the gift out of the bag and hurrying to grab some wrapping paper and tape. “I can’t believe I forgot, fuck me,” he said in an exasperated tone.

“I don’t think we have time for that right now; we’re already running behind,” Minho responded, his voice a little too calm compared the Jisung’s quickly spiraling stress level.

“YOU ARE NOT HELPING!” Jisung snapped in a slightly harsh tone, not even bothering to look up from the wrapping paper, and a mess of tape that was also quickly spiraling out of control.

Jisung was so focused on the task in front of him, he didn’t hear Minho move. He didn’t know anything had changed until Minho was kneeling next to him. Until Minho had placed his hand atop Jisung’s to grab his attention.

“I have to get this gift wrapped, we don’t have time for this, we're going to be late, and everyone will be waiting on us, and it will throw off the plans and-”

The words stopped abruptly as Minho's lips met Jisung’s. The kiss was brief, but it was enough to stop Jisung in his tracks. He stared at Minho, a mixture of emotions in his eyes. He wasn’t surprised by the kiss; it wasn’t their first. Even if their relationship wasn’t public for the fans, it didn't change the meaning of it.

What surprised Jisung was how, in this moment, as he was trying to rush and get everything together, he couldn’t wrap his head around how Minho was so calm. He was used to his boyfriend's calm demeanor, sure, but that didn’t mean it still didnt confuse him sometimes.

“I’ll wrap the gift, double-check everything, and make sure we’re good to go. You go grab your coat, make sure you're ready to go, okay?” Minho said. His voice was gentle; there was an extra soft tone to it that Jisung had noticed he only ever heard when Minho was talking to him, and somehow it always made him melt. Maybe that was why Minho used that tone.

“Are you sure?” Jisung asked.

Minho simply responded with a nod, lightly pushing Jisung out of the way.

“I’m sure. Besides, you have more of a mess of paper here than a gift; it needs a little help. I’ll get it fixed up, and we can be out the door in just a few more minutes. If we’re running just a little behind, it will be fine; they can get the party started without us.” Minho said.

Jisung hesitated for just a moment. Even if he wanted to argue, though, he knew Minho was right, so he gave a small, reluctant nod, taking a deep breath and stepping away from the table.

“We need to leave, though, we don’t want to be too late.”

“It will be just fine, you’re worrying too much, go finish getting ready,”

Jisung gave a small nod before disappearing down the hall. Minho waited until he was certain Jisung was gone to send a brief message to Jeongin letting him know there was a ‘hiccup’ and they would be running a few minutes behind.

It was exactly five thirty on the dot when Minho and Jisung left their dorm, Chan’s present wrapped in an immaculate fashion, the paper and the ribbon just right. The gift was tucked into the bag with the rest of the things they were supposed to be bringing to the party.

Minho and Jisung got in the car, pulling out onto the road to make their way to the party, Minho's phone tucked safely away in his pocket, when the notification of Jeongin’s response to his message popped up.

Jeongin: ‘Make sure you keep the details of your ‘hiccup’ to yourselves tonight.’
