"My dad's been bugging me about getting a job again. Says he's 'let me mope around the house long enough' and that I 'need to man up and get a new job,' otherwise he's going to kick me out," Steve confessed to Robin, snuggled up to her in her bed after sneaking into her room on a school night.
She shifted and rolled over to face him. "Yeah," she said. "I think my parents' are ready for me to find a new job, too; they're just not as pushy."
It was silent for a long moment before Steve quietly admitted, "I don't want to have a job without you there."
Robin's eyebrows raised. "Uh, yeah?" she said confused. "I assumed we were going to look for jobs together?"
"Oh." His cheeks warmed and his chest felt like it was going to burst. "Yeah. That's good."
"Dingus," Robin huffed, shaking her head against the pillow.
After a moment, she told him, "I already started looking for jobs for us."
He smiled. "Anywhere good?"
"I heard Family Video's hiring from one of the band kids," she said.
Steve cringed a little. "Isn't Keith the manager?"
Robin winced too, offering him an awkward smile. "Yeah?" she said. "But! I think he'll hire us, and if he says 'no', I have an idea how to make him say 'yes'."
Steve still was unsure about the whole thing. After all, Keith hadn't exactly been the biggest fan of him when they went to school together.
She must've read the look on his face because she asked him, "Just give it a shot? For me?"
"… Fine."
Robin let out a little cheer.
