Work Text:
It was a brisk winter afternoon, Shota was sitting on the floor next to his desk as his cat, pearl, lounged in his chair. He had paperwork to do but didn't have the heart to move her with how comfortable she looked. So he was sitting on a pillow leaned against the wall next to his desk- RIP his back- with his laptop on his legs. The heater was going but there was a slight draft since his portable heater- I mean husband left the window open.
He had no idea how long he's been staring at the screen, a few minutes, hours, time was irrelevant he just knew his eyes hurt- he should probably take a break but he felt he needed to finish this first.
He heard the soft click of the doorknob and the creak of the door opening followed by quiet footsteps- he didn't really look up he knew by the footsteps it was Hizashi.
"you should really eat something, I know you, you skipped breakfast this morning and it's about time for lunch" finally Shota let his gaze settle the man, Hizashi had his hair up in a bun with the grown out undercut wafting around his neck and shoulders. He had a muted blue sweater on- one of the more easier outfits for shotas eyes to lay on- and some Christmas pajamas even though is January- Shota is red green colorblind so he could barely see the pattern.
"I was just finishing up really, I'm almost done" his voice was a little rough from disuse- jeez how long had he been sitting here in silence? He was starting to recognize the slight ache in his back from the position.
"On the floor?" Hizashi questioned, his eyebrow raised and an amused smirk on his face. He walked over, gently shutting the window and standing above Shota
"Pearl was in my seat" he gestured to the sleek white cat in the chair, happily sleeping the day away "I wasn't just gonna move her"
Hizashi chuckled softly at that, running a hand across the cats fur before grabbing shotas laptop- to which he got a bit of protest from the sleep deprived man as he set it on the desk and shut it.
"Hey, I was working on that, I told you I'll come down when I'm done." Shota protested, though he didn't actively try to grab it back, just crossing his arms as he ignored the ache in his lower back and eyes.
"Hm, no I don't think so, your eyes are getting red, love, you need to take breaks in between before eye strain makes you go blind." Hizashi really only got a small huff from Shota, whom was displeased but stood up anyway, trying not to make an audible sound to the pain in his back that he was sure would fade with an Advil and a bit of time.
Before he could say anything else he was being pulled down the stairs to the kitchen- ah, of course Hizashi was gonna make him eat too. He didn't bother protesting this, he knew his eating habits were… unconventional at best, and he was starting to recognize his hunger finally, but still rude.
He sighed as they got to the kitchen, rubbing his wrist when his husband finally released him, it didn't hurt or anything he just wanted to be dramatic today.
He used his palms to haul himself onto the counter, sitting comfortably with his legs hanging off as he watched as hizashi pulled some leftovers out of the fridge and start heating them up. He hoped it wasn't too heavy since heavier foods tended to make him nauseous, he had been on patrol the night before and didn't eat dinner besides for maybe a protien bar and a jelly packet. It had been a longer patrol and on the weekdays ones he normally leaves at around 6 so he wasn't home to see what Hizashi had made
"I can feel you staring, you know" Hizashi said with a grin as he looked over at Shota, whom promptly looked away, his hand coming to rub the back of his neck- a nervous tick of you will.
"I wasn't staring I was simply watching" he defended- though it sounded weak even to his own ears. And the soft bubbly laughter that got him from his husband made his cheeks flush slightly though he hoped his hair was hiding most of it since his hair was still down right now.
Hizashi walked over, moving Shota's hair out of his face and clicking his tongue "no hiding, love. I'm just teasing. Now! Anyway, food is heated up and you, sir, need solid food."
Soon enough there was a plate shoved into Shota's hands. Shota took the distraction from his own heated face as he looked at the food in his hands, he really was paying more attention to Hizashi than the food he was making when he was staring- I mean watching earlier.
The aroma of the stir fry filled his nose as he pulled out chopsticks from the drawer beside him, poking at the food a bit longer than necessary before taking a bite- it wasn't bad, a little heavy but not overwhelmingly so. There wasn't too much on his plate thanks to Hizashi's mindfulness of both his appetite and dislike for waisting food- not that he'd force Shinso or Eri to finish a plate if they weren't hungry, it's just how he was raised.
As he ate the slightly spicy stir fry Hizashi was putting stuff back in the fridge and starting up the coffee pot. Shota was both a fast eater and didn't have that much on his plate so he finished rather quickly and moved to wash the dish only to be intercepted by his husband who stepped in front of him. He raised an eyebrow when Hizashi put one hand on his hip and took the plate from him and put it in the sink
"what are you doing, Zashi" he questioned, his tone a bit unamused but he wasn't mad, and boy was he definitely not mad when he saw that cheeky smile on his husbands face. Hizashi put both hands on shotas hips, pulling him flush against his chest.
"I'm helping you relax a bit, what's it look like?" He said with that grin turning slightly mischievous as his thumbs rubbed along his husbands hips, keeping the slightly shorter man flush against him as he looked down through the red framed lenses.
Shota couldn't help but relax ever so slightly as he felt Hizashi's thumbs rubbing circles against him, sighing softly as he leaned into his husbands grasp "your ridiculous you know that?"
Hizashi rolled his eyes, stepping back a bit only to bend down and pick Shota up by his thighs- the man was a bit light for his body type which leaned a bit on the curvy side though unfortunately for Hizashi it was mostly hidden below baggy clothes. He adjusted the man who let out a surpised noise, his smile widening as he watched the blush spread on Shota's pale skin despite the honey gold eyes glaring at him.
"What the fuck do you think your doing." Shota said with a huff, trying to sound stern despite the heat rushing to his face and ears, and that look on his husbands face was not helping one bit. He wished he had the ability to read people's emotions like a book but unfortunately he can't do that. So he has no idea what is shining in his husbands eyes but if it's not making his heart beat a bit faster he's a goddamn liar.
Hizashi didn't actually answer him this time, just smiled wider and started walking to the living room. Hitoshi had taken Eri with him to go hang out with Kaminari today so they were home alone, he didn't mind the peace and quiet, as much as he loved his kids, he also enjoyed time alone with his husband which with a teenager in a hero school and a 6 year old? Yeah that doesn't happen often.
Soon enough hizashi was sitting on the couch with Shota in his lap, Shota wasn't sure what he was expecting but this wasn't too bad, his husband can be quite the unpredictable one so he didn't mind this to much, he adjusted a bit to get comfortable, letting his knees rest on the cushions beside Hizashi's thighs, though he kept his arms around the man's shoulders, his fingers absentmindedly playing with the soft blond strands of the grown out undercut and he felt his husbands hands reaching under his shirt to rub at the tense muscles of his back, he really shouldn't have sat on the floor for that long earlier, but pearl was just too precious.
"I'm gonna take an educated guess you just wanted me in your lap" he said, raising an eyebrow but he couldn't help but relax at the touch despite the innital shock. He did enjoy the way the dimples showed on his husbands face with the smile, the freckles splattered on his cheeks and the bridge of his nose practically begging for kisses but he refrained himself.. for now at least
"Maybe" Hizashi drawled out the word a bit, pulling Shota a bit closer and snaking one arm up to move the dark curls out of the way so he could cup his cheek. Running a thumb under shotas eye Hizashi noticed the dark circles and the way those gold eyes were slightly unfocused, he wondered how much of the night his husband spent actually sleeping and how much he spent it doing chores or work.
He would always be slightly concerned for Shota as the man struggled with insomnia and other problems, but he knew his husband had it mostly under control. He leaned up, planting a soft kiss to the scar below shotas right eye, just a few pecks before leaning back slightly "you're adorable you know that?"
Shota promptly rolled his eyes at that, but his lip quirked up slightly betraying his amusement. He let out a small huff as he shifted his weight slightly to relax fully into Hizashi's lap, the couch of which he's been told is a light red dipping beneath his knees. He wanted to tell him off or tell him to shut the hell up but he was finding it hard to be mad or embarrassed with that hand running slowly up and down his side now.
He could hear the clock ticking on the wall, the unimportant audio on the tv of whatever Hizashi had been watching before he pulled him off of his laptop earlier, the slight wind outside. And the scurrying sound of pearl in the other room. It was maybe 1pm, quiet in the house which he didn't mind, and he couldn't help but smile as hizashi pecked a few more kisses on the scar "you don't have to do that you know"
"But I do" was the response he got from his husband, followed by that same smile from earlier, the one he's come to recognize as mischievous from how often he sees it despite his difficulties with emotions. Next thing he knew Hizashi had wrapped both arms around the small of his back and flipped him over, he couldn't help but laugh as hizashi laid above him, peppering kisses on his face while he pushed back half-assedly- and to think he stopped himself earlier only for his husband to do it instead
"Okay, okay, enough, Zashi-" he said though his protests were quickly silenced by lips covering his own, not rough but rather gentle where he couldn't have stopped himself from sinking into it if he wanted to- which he didn't.
He could taste the slightly bitter taste of Hizashi's chapstick, he didn't really mind, he always adored that hizashi took care of himself so well, maybe for selfish reasons since it ment his husbands skin was always soft to the touch, his hair was always silky and easy to glide his fingers thru and his lips were always soft against his own- which are normally chapped since he picks at them too often. It was a bit annoying to deal with the stupid ass mustache but he'd suffer with it for a bit.
He could feel Hizashi's hands sliding up his sides, his thumb brushing against the faint scars cris crossing his hips and sides, and the breath fanning his face from his husbands nose as the slow soft kiss continued, it wasn't rushed, it was slow and he'd be a damn liar if he said he didn't love it. He couldn't help but reach up and let his fingers slide against Hizashi's scalp, gently tugging the hair tie out and coaxing the hair out of the bun.
He was slightly disappointed when Hizashi finally pulled away, the man didn't go far but still, how could he. It was also then when he fully realized exactly where Hizashi's hands were. His right hand instinctively moving to cover his husbands left one but the man didn't falter. Shota still sometimes has to remind himself that Hizashi doesn't mind them, I guess it's just a bit iffy even after all these years but eventually he did relax again
"There you go, baby.. your okay" Hizashi spoke softly, his tone calming and hypnotically smooth as he leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on Shota's jaw, prompting the sleep deprived man to apologize quietly "sorry just.. still jumpy I guess"
"Well, if it's my turn to take an educated guess I'd say I don't think you slept much last night which would add to the jumpiness" Shota hated that his husband was most likely correct, though he didn't know exactly what time he went to bed last night. He laid in bed for a while after his patrol before forfitting the battle against insomnia and getting up to do the dishes
"Im right aren't I?" Hizashi said as he brought his right arm up, pressing his elbow against the couch cushion and stroking the side of Shota's face with his thumb as the man sighed and nodded
"Unfortunately so, but not for lack of trying" Shota mumbled, leading to a soft laugh from Hizashi before he felt those lips against his again, just as soft as before and the thumbs stroking his cheek and his hip combined with the soft kiss seemed to be lulling his body to relax again, he didn't realize he had gripped his husbands hair in his small moment of panic before his grip was rwlaxing and his nails were scraping lightly against Hizashi's scalp
He let out a soft sigh out his nose against his husbands face as he let his body relax fully against the couch. His right hand leaving the other mans and sliding up his arm then down to his chest and snaking around to his back so he could pull hizashi closer to him.
Hizashi didn't fight the pull, adjusting slightly so he could settle overtop Shota without crushing the poor man. He let his hand drift under his husbands ear, his fingers tangling in those dark curls as his thumb rubbed his cheek still. He felt the scars beneath his left hand but it never deterred him, actually it encouraged him more than anything, to him the scars weren't proof of shotas faliures but physical evidence of what he's overcome. And of just how strong his husband is
Shota could faintly hear the sound of his own teeth clicking against the inner hoops of his snake bites (yes I gave him piercings, bite me) the quiet smack of their lips moving together every now and then as the kiss- or does this qualify as makeout? The specifics are unimportant- continued at its slow pace, he could feel Hizashi's warm breath against his face and feel the man's body heat seeping into his skin.
Portable heater for a reason, Hizashi was always warm. He felt his husbands hand lifting his shirt up slightly as it glided across his stomach, the cool air biting at his skin but he could ignore it- he would to make this last longer.
It was lazy, unhurried, yet so, so good. Dont get him wrong he loved the fast pace, heated make out sessions but there was something about the lazy and slow manner of this one that he positively adored. He could lay here with his back to the couch kissing his husband like this for hours. And the way that hand glided across his skin was just amazing.
He listened to the sound of fabric sliding across the couch as he lifted his right leg, his thigh leaning against Hizashi's as he crossed his leg over his husbands. Feeling Hizashi gently flick the backing of his earrings as he tangled his fingers further into the blond locks, not pulling or gripping more playing with the hair absentmindedly.
He could feel red frames falling from his husbands face and hitting his nose but he didn't mind, he always found the fact that Hizashi had glasses adorable, well not always, high school was a different story, mostly because Hizashi kept breaking them. The rest of the time it was cute though. Even if he couldn't really see red he knew that his husband looked good in it.
When the kiss broke Shota looked up at his husband- he could see the soft smile, the slight pink hue to his checks that brought out his freckles, the way those eyes were slightly lidded In what he thought was love, he wasn't entirely sure but he thinks he's getting better at identifying emotions.
He couldn't help but smile himself at the way the man was looking at him, even if he wasn't totally sure he was sure he liked it. This time he didn't shy away from the hand on his side, just moving his right arm to curve around the back of his husbands neck.
He chuckled as Hizashi kissed along the side of his face, trailing down to his jaw as he turned his head slightly "okay, sunshine, you win, but toshi and Eri are gonna be home any minute so don't get too carried away"
"Awww, but you're so pretty like this" Hizashi teased, a slight grin on his face as he looked down at his now blushing husband
"Oh, shut up." He mumbled lightly trying to push Hizashi away like he didn't just makeout with the man. Letting out an 'umph' sound when Hizashi dropped his full weight onto him- it didn't hurt just didn't expect it.
"Yeahhh I'm not going anywhere you can push me all you want. We both know your not really trying" Hizashi said with an almost smug smile making Shota roll his eyes.
The weight on his chest was calming though, he never understood really why but he always seemed to calm down when a cat or Hizashi laid on his chest, or one of the kids even. It was just grounding he figured. He couldn't help the soft sigh that left him as he let his eyes close, listening to Hizashi's breathing as the man continued to rub his thumb along Shota's side.
The sound of the tv came back into focus, still not important enough to listen to, the wind had picked up a little bit but not by much and he could hear the sound of a car pulling into the driveway meaning Kaminari's mom probably dropped Hitoshi and Eri off. He didn't really wanna move.
He could feel his body sinking deeper into the couch as his breathing deepened, maybe he was tired.. I mean Eri woke them up pretty early this morning and he doesn't know when he went to bed last night so tired is a given.
He heard the lock click on the door and the soft creek of it opening, he knew it was Hitoshi by the footsteps and recognized when Eri came in too.
He could vaugly hear Hizashi telling the kids to keep quiet but he was finally asleep before he heard why.
