Work Text:

kaiser was like glass; he'd take each little hit, feeling them add up overtime until it was too much and he finally broke.

50 minutes

he'd spent so long perfecting an ideal version of himself, a version he could only truly ever feel when he had the adrenaline of winning each match rushing through him, just for it to break.

he'd spent so long working to become an emperor in people's eyes, watching them fawn over his existance, it created a sense of pride which he'd never managed to feel before this. the mask he'd put on worked, he was blinding people of his reality.

75 minutes

his head always felt blank when he played matches, a different headspace taking over which made him feel unreal like he was unstoppable.

fans loved him, they shouted for him, roared for him. his name echoing through the stadium loudly but he couldn't stand the way he got reminded of him. the shouting of his name was a constant reminder of who he really was deep down, who had created this sick feeling that was rotting inside him.

87 minutes

this was it. kaiser's perfect opportunity to show everyone who he was, he was the best striker. he was the chosen emporer. he wasn't the young, lost boy he used to be. he was different.

he had it perfectly set up, ness passed to him, of course he did. his eyes moved to the ball landing at his feet.

his heart almost stopped or maybe it did, his foot moved without his body telling it to. a pass to isagi, he felt shame and dread filling him instantly as he paused and stood in the middle of the pitch. he watched the net recoil once the ball got slammed into it, his eyes widening in horror.

90 minutes

the whistle echoed but kaiser couldn't hear it, his ears were ringing. he had thoughts bouncing through his head that he couldn't seem to silence.

he fell to his knees, his hands grabbing at his hair before clenching into tight fists. if his ears hadn't of been so loud, if the ringing hadn't of started, kaiser would of been disgusted by the scream he let out.

he felt weak, pathetic. but that's because he was, he just never wanted to admit it.
