Chapter Text
The rain against the window, a calming sound filling the once quiet room. Olivia leaned against the sill, watching the raindrops sliding down the glass. It had been a long day, and she was exhausted. Her mind was still overflowing with thoughts from work, but the warm glow of the candle she lit earlier and the sound of the rain was calming her.
Then, she felt Elliot’s presence behind her. The faint sound of him exhaling as he came closer. Before she turned around, his hands were already on her waist, his fingertips brushing gently against her back. The simple touch sent a wave of warmth through her, calming the rest of her scattered thoughts.
She tilted her head back slightly, smiling and giving him permission to hold her, and to be close.
Elliot didn’t speak. He never did when it came to moments like these. He knew Olivia didn’t need words. His hands rose and began to massage the tension from her shoulders, his touch firm but tender. It wasn’t about saying anything. It was about being here, together, in this moment.
As his hands moved back to her waist, pulling her a little closer, Olivia let out a soft breath, her heart steadily beating. The rain outside continued, but inside, it was just the two of them, wrapped in the intimacy of their connection.
Elliot’s fingers brushed against her side as he wrapped his arms around her. She leaned back into his chest, letting the comfort of his embrace wash over her.
“I’m glad you’re here” she whispered, her voice quiet over the rain.
He kissed the top of her head, a silent answer to her words. His hands wrapped over her arms, the touch light but full of care.
For Olivia, this, being held, feeling his touch, knowing that without a word, he could make everything feel right was the most intimate expression of love she could ever ask for. It wasn’t about the gift giving, or the words of affirmation; it was the small moments where their connection was physical, not just visual and emotional. Lord knows there’s been enough making up and grovelling from Elliot over the past few months.
In the quiet room, with the rain falling outside, Olivia felt loved. Truly, deeply loved in a way that only Elliot knew how to do.
