Chapter Text
The familiar end of the rushing water, the faint steam that fogged your glasses. That's how you knew. This was either going to be the best or the worst thing you've ever done.
You could barely register your voice before the music started. "Karma" by Rubyeye, to be exact. The melancholic tune and soft voice of the singer filled your ears, and you slowly dipped your right foot into the bath. It was burning to the touch.
IT stung, yet it felt oddly calming. It felt like a reminder that you were alive, a reminder of the pain you can feel.
You slowly dipped your body down into the water, feeling that riveting burn spread all the way to the top of your thighs and just below your chest.
You stayed there, lying down as the music's intensity increased. The whole thing felt nice, like a hug from a motherly sun.
You noticed that the more you moved, the more it burned, so you continued. Slowly, you wiggled your legs, trying to find a comfortable position in a bathtub smaller than you. You lifted your submerged arms, noticing how pink they had become in such a short time.
The song played again.
This time, you lifted your legs, and your attention immediately turned to the contrast between the parts that had been in water and the ones that hadn't.
You lay back down as you were before, most of you submerged into the warmth. You tilted your head back, letting it rest upon the railing of the tub. You could almost fall asleep if it weren't for the hum of noise through the door.
No matter how much the outside world called to you, you didn't want to leave. You wanted only to stay wrapped in the warm blanket of burning water you had made for yourself.
any thought of what happened during the day slowly faded, replaced by the noise of the song.

You didn't know how long it had been since you'd entered the tub. Your eyes felt heavy and your chin hot. You realized why when you felt water pricking at the end of your lips.
Seems like you fell further down in the water.
Oh well, you didn't mind. if anything, this made everything better.
You felt your hair brush against your neck and face underwater, your fingers burning ever so slightly more as you moved your arm up to gently brush through the submerged strands. A deep exhale was all it took for your tense muscles to relax again. your hand gently drifting down to touch the floor of the bathtub.
With a sudden force, you shifted your hands and pushed yourself upwards. Instantly, your upper torso grew cold. The light breeze from the fan now making itself known. Now that you were sitting up, you reached over and removed the plug for the drain.
You watched with heavy eyes as the water slowly drained, leaving you cold and refreshed.
Quite the successful bath if you ask me.
