No Idea (Reupload from 2016ish)

Summary:

Had this idea while listening to "No Idea" by BTR, so look at those lyrics for the song in this fic

Notes:

Reposting my old works so my international friends can read them. Please don't judge theses I haven't edited them at all and some of these fics are almost a decade old, I swear my writing has improved! This one I remember being super proud of, but upon reread to tag it correctly I think it's become a bit dated.

Work Text:

"The dancer?"

"He has a name, Namjoon."

"But he is the dancer, right?"

Yoongi gives an exasperated sigh as he kicks Namjoon's leg, glaring at the taller male with his best 'piss off' face. "Yes the dancer, Park Jimin."

"Yeah! Hoseok's partner." Namjoon smiles, swatting at Yoongi's foot as he goes in for another kick. "So you wrote a song about him?"

Namjoon's laugh fills the small studio room as Yoongi rolls his eyes, "Yes, I wrote about the guy I've been crushing on for almost a year. As you already know."

"I know, but you actually wrote about him, you had been avoiding doing that."

"Just shut up." Yoongi turns back to the sound panel and his laptop screen. He pulls the crumpled pieces of paper from his coat pocket, unfolding them as if they're a precious life in his hands. Namjoon watches him as he lays the paper on his keyboard, reading over the messy scribbles that are Yoongi's handwriting.

"It's almost finished." Yoongi says quietly. "I need to work on the bridge and then decide how I want to end it. I might have Hoseok look over the lyrics and get his opinion."

"Why not me?" Namjoon gives a huff, sliding his chair closer to Yoongi, who in turn glares at him.

"You were just making fun of me for writing about the red haired dancer."

Namjoon just shrugs his shoulders and snatches the paper before Yoongi can fend him off. "Ya!"

"What title are you thinking of?" Namjoon asks, moving his chair out of range of Yoongi's hands, so he can read it properly.

Yoongi's glare intensifies, digging daggers into Namjoon's head as he says, through tight teeth, "I was thinking 'No Idea' but I'm still tossing it around. That's why I wanted to give it to Hoseok, he's good with titles. Also, who's going to be singing it?"

"The company was thinking having the newbie do it or Taehyung." Namjoon smiles at the lyrics before surrendering the papers back to Yoongi.

"Who’s the newbie again? I know he's Seokjin's apprentice."

"Yeah, Jungkook: young but tall?"

"Ah, yeah that kid. He's got a really good voice."

"He's going to give Jin a run for his money."

Yoongi absently nods, beginning to tune Namjoon out as he focuses on his lyrics. He crosses a few lines out, rewrites certain phrases. The papers at this point look like chicken scratch notes that are illegible to most, but Yoongi understands and Namjoon's been working with him long enough to be able to decipher it. They spend about an hour like this, Namjoon talking aimlessly as Yoongi works on his song. He knows Yoongi doesn't listen, but he - unlike Yoongi - hates the studio being silent so he fills the space the best he can until Yoongi leaves.

Once Yoongi feels he has the lyrics the best they're going to get he types them out, formally separates them, and prints them out.

"Namjoon?"

"Ya?" Namjoon’s thoughts fall short as he sees Yoongi move over to the printer pulling out a stack of freshly printed papers.

"Here, it's as good as it's going to get." Yoongi hands a couple of papers to him. "I'll let you and Hoseok look it over and we can go over it tomorrow."

Suddenly, Namjoon perks up with a big smile as he raises an eyebrow at Yoongi. "Going down to give those to Hoseok? And say 'hi' to your red haired dancer?"

A bright blush breaks out on Yoongi's face making him kick Namjoon's leg. "He's not mine."

"He could be."

"Namjoon, shut up."

"No."

"I'm leaving."

With his face still red Yoongi grabs his laptop and stuffs it in his bag with the papers, leaving a copy out for Hoseok. After putting on the strap of his satchel he storms to the door, throwing it open with more force than necessary, but he catches the handle before it slams into the wall and closes the door, rather harshly. Namjoon's laughter can be heard behind the door, but Yoongi opts to ignore him as he makes his way down to the dance studio.

Yoongi had met Jimin through his rapper friend, Hoseok, over a year ago. Jimin fell into their weird group easily, a missing puzzle piece for their weird friend Taehyung. Even though all the boys hang out together, Yoongi knows Jimin barely notices him and that's what he's been spending the last three weeks putting on paper. He's not great at expressing his feelings, especially ones that he knows won't be returned. It hadn't happened at first, his fall for Jimin had been slow and unnoticed. When it did finally hit him, he took a week off to deal with his emotions and sort them all out.

Yoongi - the emotionless rapper - has fallen for Jimin - the wild and crazy dancer.

As Yoongi steps into the dance studio he sees Jimin. He's hard to miss with his freshly dyed hair, the cherry red sticking out any place he goes. Yoongi's eyes linger on the dancing boy for a second more before walking over to Hoseok, who's standing on the side watching him.

"Yoongi-hyung, what do you need?" Hoseok asks, not taking his eyes off Jimin, watching his every move to make sure he's doing it right.

"I finished the song." Yoongi states, no emotion behind his words as he glances at Jimin.

Before Hoseok can respond his phone buzzes in his pocket. He gives Yoongi a happy smile, making grabby hands for the lyrics as he pulls his phone out. Hoseok looks at the incoming text message; Yoongi puts the papers in his hand while scratching his head.

"Anything I should know about them?" Hoseok asks as he reads his phone.

"They're rather cheesy coming from me, but that's about the only warning I have." With a shrug of his shoulders Yoongi turns to leave.

Yoongi makes his way to the door, watching Jimin, who's too focused on his dancing to notice them. He's moving swiftly, until he hears Hoseok call out, "Well you wrote it based off feelings not imagination, what do you expect?"

"What?!" Yoongi spins around, eyes wide as he looks at a smirking Hoseok. He waves his phone, Namjoon's contact picture above the text and Yoongi doesn't have to read it to know. "That little shit!" Quickly, Yoongi looks to the still oblivious Jimin, fear on his face as he shakes his head. "Just, forget you heard anything Hoseok."

With that, Yoongi books it out of the dance studio. Jimin's eyes follow him as he rushes out the door, unbeknownst to Yoongi.

The next day, Yoongi shuffles into the company building, not even flashing the front desk lady a smile as he passes.

Last night he read over his lyrics again, and still now he cringes at the utter boy-band-esk of them. He'd spent part of the night complaining that "hip hop is dead" while the other half of him was busy trying not to think about what would greet him today, now that Hoseok knows about his stupid - and pointless - crush. Then he had been kept up by the 'what if's that are always so prominent with him when he thinks about Jimin. Last night took a more romantic turn and he proceeded to scold himself for a good three hours because he felt like some sad hopeless romantic. All that came to an end around four in the morning, and he was only able to stay asleep for six hours before he woke from another nightmare. Something about losing Jimin, he couldn't really remember the details and he honestly didn't care to.

Stifling a yawn, Yoongi covers his mouth as he climbs the stairs to the studio level. Music is blasting from the dance studio as he passes. He stops at the door, opening it slightly to see whose practicing.

As I thought. Yoongi muses when his eyes catch the bright red color moving across the floor. He keeps the door open only enough so he can look through to watch Jimin, like he usually does. He finds it comforting to watch him dance, he's always so focused like Yoongi when he's rapping.

"That's called stalking."

A yelp leaves Yoongi's lips as he slams the door shut in surprise, spinning around and going to land a punch on whoever had spoken in his ear. It's Hoseok who groans when Yoongi's fist makes contact with his arm that he holds up in defense.

"What was that for?" Hoseok whines, stepping back and rubbing his arm.

"For surprising me and it's not stalking." Yoongi rolls his eyes, putting on his chill facade even though he's just relieved that Jimin's music is so loud that he didn't hear the door.

Hoseok gives a scoff before wrapping an arm around Yoongi, guiding him away from the dance studio and towards their recording room.

"I read your lyrics."

"And?"

"You really like him don't you?"

"Sadly, would be easier if I didn't."

"Sorry to tell you hyung, but love doesn't work like that."

"Are the lyrics any good?"

"Completely, you've made yet another stunning song."

Yoongi nods and says a small "thank you" as they step into the studio. Namjoon greets both of them with a wide smile.

"Good lyrics." He comments, reaching up to give Yoongi a fist bump.

"Thanks, guess experience writing isn't too bad." With a shrug of his shoulders Yoongi sits in a chair in front of their equipment and starts messing around with a few switches. "We need to work on the background music, I have a basic track but we need more."

Then, with a smooth glide the boys fall into their usual places in the studio. The studio turns into clockwork and the boys begin to do what they do best: making music. No one leaves the room all day, their positions shift here and there but not much movement is made. Lots of words and ideas are bouncing off the walls, drowning the boys in creativity, which feeds them and drives them towards the completion of the song.

When the sun has set behind the horizon outside, there's a soft knock on the studio door.

Hoseok looks to the door, from his position stretched out on his back on the studio's small couch, head hanging off the edge. "Who is it?"

"Jimin."

Namjoon glances over at Yoongi, who quickly turns his focus back onto the soundboard and the music coming from his head phones. Rolling his eyes at the blonde Namjoon calls, "You can come in Jimin."

The studio door is pushed open slowly, the bright red hair poking inside. Jimin's gaze sweeps across the room, smiling at Namjoon and Yoongi's back before they shift down to Hoseok.

"What's up?" Hoseok asks, not even moving, though the blood is rushing to his head.

Jimin then steps inside, leaving the door open as he looks at Hoseok. "I haven't seen you today, and it was late so I thought I'd stop in and see how things were going with the song."

"Good, Yoongi's still not too confident in his lyrics." Hoseok reaches to the floor by his head, grabbing the lyrics. "Wanna give us your opinion?"

"Sure."

Yoongi stays put, making it look like he's working. Really though, his music is turned down as he listens to Jimin and Hoseok.

Jimin takes the lyrics from Hoseok, setting his dance bag on the floor beside Hoseok's head as his eyes fall to the papers.

A heavy silence fills the studio as Jimin carefully reads over the lyrics. Hoseok, bats at his legs from his position and Namjoon keeps his eyes on Yoongi to gauge his reaction.

"Their fairly cheesy, compared to most of his lyrics. They're not bad though; they're actually really sweet." Jimin turns his gaze to Yoongi, whose now turned his head around to watch Jimin, biting his lip. "What gave you the idea?"

Their eyes lock for only a second, because Yoongi can't handle Jimin's intense stare for any time longer than that.

"Um, ya know its all imagination and good writing." Yoongi looks back at the sound panel as he shrugs his shoulders.

Jimin's eye's narrow when his back is turned. Jimin says, only loud enough for Hoseok's ears to catch, "Imagination my ass."

Jimin leaves a few minutes later, Hoseok giving him a knowing smile as he waves him off. Yoongi finally pulls himself away from the soundboard, declaring the song finished. After listening to it a few times the other two rappers agree with him. Namjoon sends Hoseok and Yoongi home after that, declaring he'll get the song up to management and work with them tomorrow on who would have the best vocals, to pull the song off. With a day off declared Yoongi smiles brightly, quickly packing his things and heading home.

The long work day left him more exhausted than normal, so Yoongi was able to step into his apartment and forget about the fact that Jimin read his lyrics. The lyrics he wrote for him. Yoongi quickly drowns that thought and falls face first into his bed, not even bothering to change, he just lets sleep over take him.

When he rises from his death the next day, his lazy eyes shift to look at his clock. The bright red numbers show '11:27'. A lazy grin grows on his face as he curls further into his sheets, still not caring that he probably should take a shower and change.

No reason to get up, no one to please, nothing to do but- a sharp buzz knocks Yoongi's train of thought off its tracks. Glaring at his night stand, he reaches over and snatches his phone. Looking at his notification bar he sees a new text. Who and why?

Rolling on his back, Yoongi holds the phone over his face as he reads the text.

Good morning Yoongi!

11:28 AM

Yoongi's brows furrow, the number at the top not having a contact name. Which means the person knows him, but he must not have their number. He rubs his eyes before sighing, and responding back.

Who the hell is this?

11:30 AM

If I told you that would ruin all the fun!

11:31AM

Yoongi stops, looking at his phone with even more confusion.

Okay I'll say this: I'm a guy who really likes you, and this seems to be the only way I can get to know you.

11:32 AM

How do you know I like guys?

11:34 AM

Hoseok and Namjoon

11:34 AM

Wait, better question, how'd you get my number?

11:35 AM

Hoseok and Namjoon

11:35 AM

And my name???

11:37 AM

Hoseok and Namjoon.

11:37AM

Can we just assume anything I know I got it from those two?

11:37 AM

I'll kill them.

11:40 AM

No you won't, you threaten violence a lot but I bet you're a sweet guy.

11:40 AM

With that Yoongi tosses his phone on the night stand, staring it down as if it could magically tell him who was the weird boy texting him.

To get away from the strange conversation Yoongi gets up and heads for the bathroom to take a long, relaxing shower. After thoroughly cleaning his dyed hair he steps out and dresses in his lazy clothes: sweats and a loose t-shirt. He ignores his phone, which the corner light is blinking, and moves to the kitchen to get some food. After he eats a decent meal, and cleans up his dishes, he retreats back to his room.

Yoongi sits down on his bed, staring at his phone. It's another few minutes before he brings himself to pick up his phone and look at the mystery boy’s texts.

Or am I wrong?

12:00 PM

Did I scare you off??????

12:05 PM

Shit, I'm really bad at this aren't I?

12:09 PM

Yoongi.....????

12:13 PM

There's a moment where Yoongi contemplates telling the boy he's not wrong, but then he reminds himself that he's not soft. Growling under his breath Yoongi, angrily, types a response.

Okay asshole, I don't need a stalker so can you shut up and delete my number? Now.

12:45 PM

No . . .

12:46 PM

No what?! Delete my number!

12:47 PM

No x2 I'm not deleting your number and I'm not a stranger.

12:47 PM

"What?" Yoongi mumbles, scratching his head as he looks around his room. "Okay, so it's a guy I know. Oh hell, that doesn't fucking help! I know a lot of guys from Hoseok, Namjoon, and the company. This could be anyone."

A growl is pulled from Yoongi throat as he tosses his phone to the end of his bed.

A part of Yoongi wants to ignore every text coming to his phone, but his curiosity is gnawing at him.

"Why am I am so hopeless?" Yoongi mumbles as he crawls to his phone, sitting in front of it and unlocking the screen. There are no new texts from the boy, but Yoongi feels his heart racing in anticipation as he tries to figure out what exactly to say.

Why do you want to get to know me?

12:51 PM

Dummy, I like you. A lot, I'd say love but that's way too forward.

12:52 PM

A fierce blush takes over Yoongi's face as he bites his lip. He really, really likes the idea of someone being in love with him . . . but he wants it to be Jimin. He realizes that he wishes the mystery boy is Jimin, but nothing connects in his mind that would lead this boy to be him so Yoongi ditches that though as soon as it surfaces.

He's distracted by his phone buzzing again.

Can I play twenty questions with you?

12:54 PM

. . . . . . . I guess

12:57 PM

Really?! I didn't expect you to say yes

12:57 PM

Do you want me to take it back?

12:59 PM

No! No! No! Okay, give me a minute to think.

12:59 PM

When were you born?

1:00 PM

9 March 1993

1:02 PM

Where were you born?

1:02 PM

Daegu

1:03 PM

Favorite colors?

1:03 PM

White

1:04 PM

Any family back in Daegu?

1:04 PM

Yeah... my mom, dad, and older brother.

1:08 PM

Can you drive?

1:08 PM

Yes idiot, how do you think I get to the company?

1:09 PM

Hey! You could walk for all I know.

1:09 PM

Next question

1:09 PM

Where'd you get your stage name of Suga?

1:10 PM

I got it because my skin is pale; I'm pretty when I smile, and because I'm sweet.

1:10 PM

I was right! You are a sweet guy under that pissed off glare!

1:10 PM

Yoongi finds himself smiling at that, wanting to slap himself for how cute he finds this boy's antics.

By this point Yoongi's holding his phone almost directly before his face, not daring to turn away as he responds back to him in seconds. Something about the boy has Yoongi willing to tell him anything.

After another few hours of just questionnaires at Yoongi, he declares he has to go but he'll text tomorrow for sure.

For the rest of the day Yoongi can't stop smiling.

The next day though is a different story.

When Yoongi wakes up to head over to the company he reads over the mystery boys conversation from the day before, biting his lip to try and stifle the smile forming. As he drives to the company though his smile fades when he realizes, Namjoon and Hoseok know who this boy is. I'm going to kill them.

After parking his car he grabs his satchel and makes his way inside. He manages to pass the desk lady a small smile this time as he hurries up to the studio.

Once again though, he finds himself stopping in front of the dance studio door, listening to the heavy base line from some hip hop song. Closing his eyes, he leans his head on the door, laying his hand on the smooth wood.

I really wish that boy is you.

With a sigh Yoongi pulls away, his phone buzzing in his pocket. Looking down he sees it's the mystery boy wishing him a good morning.

See? Not you . . .

Yoongi takes a deep breath and forces himself away from the door. He stares at it for a second before turning on heel and storming to his studio.

"Yoongi!" Hoseok greets, a happy smile on his face as he spins around in his chair.

Yoongi stops in the doorway, raising at eyebrow at him. "I should really be used to this."

"You should." Namjoon remarks from the other chair, smiling at Yoongi. "How was your day off?"

That snaps Yoongi back to his original intent upon entering the company today. His gaze turns dark as he looks down at both of them.

"Who the fuck did you give my number to? Because that kid has been bothering me so much, I just want him to stop texting already." Yoongi knows he's lying, but he hopes his death stare is enough to make both of them think twice about what they've done.

Hoseok’s smile only grows as Namjoon rolls his eyes. "We have heard a different story from him."

A gasp leaves Yoongi's lips and his eyes widen drastically. "He told you!?"

"In his defense," Namjoon raises his hands, "we told him if he wanted your number he had to tell us about day one. He's not going to tell us anything else."

"We promise hyung!"

Looking between both of them, Yoongi crosses his arms over his chest. With his glare still set he lets himself enter the room, shutting the door as he mumbles, "He better not, I'll kick his ass."

"You don't even know his name." Hoseok laughs, clapping his hands together with a big smile.

"I know! It's driving me insane!"

"I've never seen our hyung this frustrated." Namjoon muses, with a smile.

"You two are assholes; can we focus back on music?"

They do just that.

Nothing much happens for the next two weeks.

The three rappers start work on the next part of their Cypher series, now that they have given the company a new song they have free reign to work on their own projects. Yoongi keeps up constant conversations with the mystery boy, which he finds himself liking him more and more each day. During recording sessions he tries to pry more information from them about the boy he's constantly texting, but neither are spilling. Yoongi's phone has made a permanent spot in his hand, he only places it down when he needs to, and Hoseok and Namjoon find this hilarious. Their constant teasing remarks follow him every day.

Yoongi’s sightings of Jimin somehow become more frequent and it's messing with his head. He visits Hoseok in the studio more, or he catches him and the newbie dancing together in the studio and once he nearly got knocked over in the hall when him and Taehyung barreled down the hall, an angry Hoseok hot on their heels.

For two weeks Yoongi's been on edge, to sum it all up.

It's exactly two weeks and three days since the mystery boy started texting him that he feels his world crash.

Yoongi and Hoseok are gathered in the recording room, the booth open for whoever was to sing Yoongi's song. He feels like it was ages ago when he wrote the lyrics, but their meaning is still ever present whenever he sees Jimin, his hair still bright red too.

Yoongi and Hoseok sit in front of the controls, setting up the room for the singer.

"It's going to be Jungkook." Yoongi states, matter of factly. "It'll be a good way for the company to get his voice and image out: a heartfelt song like this."

"Really?" Hoseok leans back in his chair, watching Yoongi. "I would think that would be a very bold way to start."

Yoongi sighs and gives a nod. "I guess that's true. If that's the case then their best bet would be to let Taehyung sing."

"They choose someone ever better."

Yoongi's head jerks back as he turns, giving Hoseok a confused stare. The wolfish grin painted on Hoseok's face has his heart speeding up as his stomach moves to his throat. After licking his lips, Yoongi clears his throat as he hastily looks to the controls to avoid Hoseok.

A few second later the door opens.

"Jimin, nice of you to finally show up." Hoseok greets with a wide grin, but Yoongi feels his face pale as his heart kicks up a notch.

"Sorry, Taehyung and Jungkook got me caught up in a game of theirs." Jimin gives each of them a curt bow before taking the lyrics from Hoseok, heading straight for the booth.

At least he's straight to business; I might be able to get through this. After taking a deep, head clearing breathe Yoongi puts himself in musician mode.

"Okay Jimin, show us what you got."

The mood in the room takes a professional shift in seconds, as Hoseok gives Jimin a run down on the song and what pitches he'd need to hit. Once they're done they give Jimin a minute to warm up, and then, with shaky fingers, Yoongi turns on the recorder and presses play.

There's a tense moment, where Yoongi realizes that he's never heard - or even knew - that Jimin could sing and he feels a jolt in his heart. He's seen Jimin dance, and it's entrancing, how will I react to his singing?

Then he sings.

The first lyric stops Yoongi cold, his eyes wide as he watches Jimin. His voice is in the higher pitched range, but the breathy and soft way he says the first lyric - "I love you" - has Yoongi's heart clenching. Yoongi can't move his eyes away from Jimin, the deep emotions he felt when he wrote the lyrics are clearly displayed on Jimin's face as well. It chokes him up; Jimin showing so much emotion for the most personal lyrics he's ever written are making his head spin, and any wall he had built up to hide his emotions from Jimin is crumbling in record time.

Yoongi tries to compose his emotions, closing his mouth and setting his face to focus on Jimin's voice without falling even harder for the boy.

After one run through, Jimin comes to the end and Yoongi finds himself smiling. Hoseok passes him a thumbs up before waving him to come out. As Jimin take off his head phones, Yoongi composes himself and take a deep breathe, trying to lessen the blush on his cheeks.

"How'd I do?" Jimin asks tentatively, poking his head out of the door, biting his lip.

Yoongi tries to ignore how cute Jimin looks like that, batting away the image as he turns to the sound board.

"Not bad, didn't know you could sing." Yoongi tries for nonchalance and a small smile.

"Yeah," Jimin scratches the back of his head, his cheeks a little pink, "I normally focus on my dance, but Hoseok caught me singing and made me come here."

"Sounds like him." Yoongi glares at Hoseok, before turning his gaze to Jimin. "You're a really good singer; you can take a song and convey the emotions perfectly in your voice. Not many singers can do that."

That turns Jimin's cheeks red, as he gives his adorable eye smile, shifting his gaze away from Yoongi's to the floor.  "Thank you, Yoongi-hyung."

"I'm just being honest, no need to thank me." Now it's Yoongi's turn for his cheeks to warm up, Hoseok quietly watches this exchange with a wide smile.

"I think this will be a perfect song for you to start with, you could even do dancing to it!" Hoseok gives a cheer, his face bright as he turns to Yoongi. "Wouldn't that be cool?"

Stiffly, Yoongi nods his head. "Yeah, let's - uh - can we just get a few more takes and finish the song now."

Both of the younger men take notice of Yoongi's shifting personality and decide it's enough joking around for the day and they get down to recording a few lines over and some backing vocals.

As the sun sets outside the city the group packs up their things, shutting down the equipment as they go. Yoongi feels as if he's shaking, so many emotions running around in his head, beating his brain to show them and express himself. He shrugs them off and tries to keep his cool composure.

"Good work; I'll put all the tracks together tomorrow and finalize the copy." Hoseok declares with a smile, giving Jimin a hug, then he turns to hold his arms out at Yoongi.

"Hug me, and I kill you after you finish the track."

"Such a violent hyung, aren't you supposed to give us youngsters wise advice."

"Fuck off."

Jimin and Hoseok break out laughing, which only makes Yoongi's cheeks turn a darker red - extremely evident against his pale sink. While those two are laughing their asses off at his expense, Yoongi grabs his bag and phone and heads out. Their laughter follows him down the hall.

Once in the safety of his car he looks at his phone to see a few missed texts from the mystery boy. One is a picture of a puppy he ran across in the morning, another asking if he knew who was to sing his song yet, another asking about the song and the singer, and then the last one popped up as he read the others asking how his day went. Yoongi finds himself smiling again at the texts, still sad it's not Jimin.

But . . . if he genuinely likes me then I guess it can't hurt to try a relationship. If I knew this assholes name, face, and half the shit he knows about me.

Yoongi gives a sigh as he looks at the phone; typing out a message.

I want to meet you.

6:55 PM

Quickly, Yoongi tosses his phone into the passenger seat. He turns on the car and heads to his apartment, his leg shakes as he drives. The nerves are eating at him as he focuses on driving, using it as a distraction point. He makes it home safe, and he shoves his phone in his pocket so he won't look at it as he makes his way up to his apartment, but the phone burns into his leg as he walks. Somehow he makes it up to his apartment without checking his phone. As soon as the door is closed, his resolve breaks.

Digging his phone out of his pocket, he unlocks the screen and reads the three new messages.

Well it took you long enough to ask. :P

7:01 PM

Give me one second

7:01 PM

Okay, tomorrow at nine, at night. That way not many people will be around. Since I know you're not big on fancy meetings and public places we're going to meet at a fast food place, but I won't tell you where. Hoseok and Namjoon will escort you there and I'll show up after them. Sound good?

7:11 PM

Sounds perfect

7:21 PM

His text back is immediate and he feels a fluttering in his stomach as realization sets in. Holy shit, I'm going to meet this guy in person.

"Shit, I'm so screwed."

Giving a heavy sigh, Yoongi falls back against his door. He covers his faces as he groans, shaking his head. He contemplates texting the guy back and canceling, like he's done so many times before when he's planned dates, but he fights himself and forces himself to shut off his phone.

Yoongi makes himself a small dinner before forcing himself to go to sleep.

When the morning rolls around, Yoongi keeps his phone off until he's eaten, showered, dressed, and collected his headphones and satchel. Sitting in his car, he bites his lip as he stares his phone down, waiting for the screen to come to life.

The phone turns on and takes a few minutes before anything comes through. A text from Hoseok saying that management loves the track, one from Namjoon saying he has the studio to himself when he gets there, but none from the mystery boy.

Yoongi tells himself it's nothing to worry about as he heads to the company.

The day actually passes relatively nicely. He doesn't stop at the dance studio, with music blasting from it, vowing not to let Jimin drag him further under his spell. Not when he has a chance at a relationship now, hopefully. Yoongi is quick to push all thoughts out of his head; as soon as he steps into the studio he puts his headphones on and gets to work. Time is lost to him as he works through one rap after another, making more beats to go along with them and completing a few old tracks.

When Hoseok walks in and pulls off his headphones though, he gets a little pissed off.

"Hoseok, what the hell!?" Yoongi whirls around, glaring and growling.

"Dude, it's going on nine." Hoseok declares, smiling back at him.

Yoongi jerks back in surprise, and then he gives a sheepish grin as he scratches the back of his head. "Really? My bad?"

"Have you even left since you came in at noon?"

"If I say yes will you believe me?"

"No, now finish up and pack up."

"Why, Hoseok?"

"You have a date to get to, idiot."

Yoongi’s' face turns red as the memory of the texts resurfaces. As Hoseok steps out of the room, Yoongi grabs his phone and looks to see if he has any new texts. He finds one, a few hours old.

Sorry I haven't been texting today. Busy making preparation for tonight. I'm really excited!

4:50 PM

A smile breaks out on Yoongi's face.

Quickly, Yoongi finishes the last beat he was in the middle of before saving his work and closing down his laptop. Trying not to seem too rushed, he lets his headphones rest around his neck as he shoves his laptop in his satchel and exits the room. Hoseok raises an eyebrow at him as he hastily puts the strap on his shoulder.

"Eager?"

"Fuck off."

Hoseok just rolls his eyes as he wraps an arm around Yoongi's shoulders.

Neither really talks as they meet Namjoon in the parking garage. Hoseok steals Yoongi’s key from him and declares he's going to be driving, and Namjoon will be following so he can take Hoseok home after. Yoongi doesn’t even get a chance to fight before Namjoon is pushing him into the passenger seat of his own car and shutting him in. A glare is set on Yoongi’s face as he puts his bag on the back seat. Namjoon gets in his own car and drives off, while Hoseok slips into the driver's side of Yoongi's car. No words pass in the dark car as Hoseok drives a few blocks down from the company, a little closer to Yoongi's place. After a few minutes they pull into a deserted parking lot, the fast food place still open though even though only one or two customers can be seen inside.

Yoongi feels his nerves kick in, contemplating pushing Hoseok out and driving away. He's done that before too. There are many reasons why he doesn't date.

"Come on." Hoseok yanks him out of the car, stopping any other thoughts he had about leaving and ditching the guy. "No way am I letting you ditch another date."

"It was only one time.” Yoongi grumbles as he tosses his headphones back in his car, locking the doors with the keys he snatched from Hoseok.

"It was three times." Hoseok corrects as he takes Yoongi's shoulders, guiding him inside.

Namjoon and Hoseok stay with him as he gets up to order food, before he can tell the lady his order though his phone buzzes. Giving her a quiet an apology he looks at his phone. It's a text from mystery boy, saying what he wants Yoongi to order for him. A blush dusts Yoongi's cheeks as he quickly orders for them both, ignoring Hoseok's and Namjoon's shit eating grins behind him.

Once he's given the food Namjoon points to a booth near the back, and he forces Yoongi to sit on the side that doesn't face the door. All so he can't see mystery boy come in.

After he assures the boys he's not leaving, eating some of his fries as he does so, they head out.

Yoongi glances back to see Namjoon standing guard outside the door as Hoseok disappears into the parking lot.

"Damn, no escape." There's a heavy sigh as Yoongi sets his phone down on the table, trying to wait patiently for him to show up.

The whole situation is weird to him and he's really not quite sure how to handle it. Every part of this has been weird, and having his two best friends be in on it has been driving him insane trying to figure out what they know that he doesn't, or what he hasn't caught onto yet.

Yoongi stays lost in his thoughts, trying to figure out who this boy could be, until he sees something out of the corner of his eye. Glancing up and out the window he sees Hoseok and Namjoon getting into the latter's car and driving off. Suddenly, Yoongi's nerves kick into high gear.

He's here . . .

"Yoongi-hyung?" A timid, and very familiar, voice calls out.

Whipping around, Yoongi finds himself coming face to face with his most desired wish: Park Jimin.

"J-Jimin, what are you doing here?" Yoongi asks; brain no believing that his dream boy could also be his mystery boy.

A smile forms on Jimin's lips, the bottom one he's biting on as he sheepishly looks down. There's a short pause before Jimin laughs, and looks back up at Yoongi with his biggest grin ever.

"Well, I'm here because I'm - as you've been calling me - your mystery boy."

Yoongi's mouth falls open, his brain short circuits, and he can feel his face slowly igniting. "R-really?"

He gets an enthusiastic nod in response as Jimin sits in the other side of the booth across from him.

"But, but it can't be you." Yoongi's face is beat red by now, because Jimin just keeps smiling.

"Why not?" Jimin's tone is teasing and it drives him nuts, because he's so calm and he picks up a hamburger and just starts eating.

"Well, um, well because you were dancing and recording a few times when you text me." Yoongi’s throat is drying out, and somehow Jimin knows because he pushes Yoongi's soda into his hands.

"Taehyung, I give him my phone some times when I'm dancing and ask him to text you as me. Surprising what your friends will be on board with." Jimin shrugs, as if it's no biggy as he takes another bite of his hamburger.

"H-how - um - how did you know I liked boys?"

"Well, because I know you like me."

"What!? How!?"

"I really like you, so I was always watching you and when I confessed to Hoseok he blurted out that you liked me too. A couple of weeks later you wrote that song. I did have no idea, for quite some time but now I do."

Yoongi is speechless, staring at Jimin with wide eyes. His brain is slowly trying to process everything. It's quiet in the booth for a minute; Jimin happily eats his hamburger and fries, all the while watching Yoongi.

"Okay," Yoongi pushes his soda aside and levels his eyes with Jimin's, "you know I like you, you like me, you knew what my lyrics were about, and you agreed to sing my song?"

Jimin gives his eye smile again as he, happily, nods his head, "Yeah! And then I got your number from Hoseok and started texting you so I could get to know you more before I initiated anything. You can be intimidating when it's just us, so I never knew how to approach you and ask you out. This was easier."

As Yoongi keeps staring at him, still in complete shock at his luck; Jimin feels his confidence fading, fast.

"Did I mess up? Cause if I did, we can totally redo this whole thing or we can just pretend it never happened."

"No!"

Jimin jerks back in surprise at Yoongi's harsh tone, his eyes having gone hard as he looks at Jimin.

"No, you didn't mess anything up and I will not forget this." Yoongi takes a deep breath, running his hands through his hair as he leans forward. "You just, surprised me . . .  like this was so out of nowhere and all I've ever wanted this past year. I'm just shocked."

Jimin's lip is between his teeth again, and he's holding the fries close to his lips as he quietly says, "I'm glad I finally got a response out of you."

"Yeah, don't get smug about it." Yoongi glares at him, but he reaches out and grabs one of Jimin's hands. "I'm glad you like me, I was afraid you wouldn't like a guy like me."

"Well," Jimin twists his hand around in Yoongi's grip, interlacing their fingers with a smile, "it was kind of hard to at first. You barely talked and when you did, it just made me want to hit you or shut you up, but despite that there was something about you I found appealing. After all those late night text though, once I got you to open up to me, and I saw the you that you don't normally show I really fell for you."

Yoongi feels his face turning red, shifting in his seat as his gaze falls to their hands.

"You're passionate, smart, straight forward, and a little too blunt at time but it's cute. I also can tell you're a caring person, but you don't show it ever so I'm not sure how you care for people . . . but I'm willing to learn."

"Even though we're two totally different people?" Yoongi slowly lifts his gaze, looking at Jimin with shy and nervous eyes.

Jimin gives him a bright smile as he squeezes his hand. "Yes, because you're fascinating."

"Shut up." Yoongi rolls his eyes and tries to ignore the way his heart leaps as he leans back in his seat.

“You are though!” Jimin presses, his eye smile coming out full force as he eagerly leans his elbows on the table, still keeping a hold of Yoongi’s hand. “You’ve got a lot of secrets I want to learn.”

The blush on Yoongi’s cheeks darkens. He looks down at his food, picking up a few fries. Jimin eats a few of his own fries as he lightly kicks Yoongi’s leg.

“Hey, you should eat your hamburger, according to Hoseok you haven’t eaten; you need to eat.” Jimin pushes said food towards Yoongi.

Yoongi bites his lip as he releases Jimin’s hand; he grumbles about beating up Hoseok as he unwraps his hamburger and takes a bite. “Happy?” He mumbles through the food in his mouth.

Jimin laughs, loud and happy as he nods his head. “Yes, yes I’m happy.”

Despite himself, Yoongi smiles and continues eating.

A comfortable silence fills the booth. Jimin is content to just sit and eat his fries, as he watches Yoongi. Yoongi keeps his gaze down, the heat on his face still ever present because of Jimin’s constant stare. Once the food is finished, Jimin collects the trash and goes to throw it away before sliding back into the seat across from Yoongi.

The silence between them shifts; Jimin’s searching eyes find Yoongi’s.

Yoongi’s voice is soft as he asks, “So, what now?”

“Well,” Jimin smiles, taking a sip from his soda to help the dry feeling in his throat, “I was hoping that, maybe, we could date.” If his voice went up an octave at the end, he’d never tell.

“Date?” Yoongi raises an eyebrow as Jimin nods his head. “Well, we both like each other so I see no reason not to.”

Jimin smiles, noticing the extreme shift in the normally straight forward and blunt Yoongi. Now, he’s shy and fumbling for words.

“Are you nervous?” Jimin’s tone is teasing, as he leans closer.

As Yoongi face, which had almost returned to its natural pale state, begins to redden he leans back and scoffs. “Me? Nervous? I don’t think so.”

“I think you are. I like nervous Yoongi.”

“If we date will you stop saying shit like that?”

“Never.” Jimin reaches forward and snatches Yoongi’s hand again. “So, can I call you my boyfriend now?”

“Only if I can call you my boyfriend.” Yoongi’s words slip past his lips before he can halt them, making his eyes widen as he looks at Jimin. Much to Yoongi’s relief, Jimin doesn’t look like he wants to laugh in his face, instead he’s showing off his bright smile as he squeezes Yoongi’s hand.

“Of course you can, I’d love that.”

Yoongi’s bottom lip finds itself between his teeth as he looks down at their hands. “Okay, then yes we’re dating. You can call this our first date if you like.”

Jimin beams brightly. “I can!? Yes!” Jimin jumps up out of the seat to do a full body fist pump in the air before grinning like an idiot and sitting beside Yoongi, causing the older’s eyes to widen drastically.

“If I’m your boyfriend then I’m sorry, you have no choice but to get used to being close to me. Stop scooting away.”

“Then don’t jump me!” Yoongi snaps, face red and eyes still a little wide as he moves closer to the wall.

Jimin simply smiles and wraps an arm around Yoongi’s shoulders, pulling him closer as he brings his face right in front of Yoongi’s.

Yoongi’s hand falls to Jimin’s chest as he looks at him, when he registers their close proximity his hand clenches Jimin’s shirt as he tries to breathe, but breathing is hard when the most beautiful person he’s ever seen is so close to him. With a shaky breath, Yoongi looks into Jimin’s eyes, unable to form words he quickly closes his lips – tight.

“You’re really pretty up close.” Jimin muses, bringing his other hand up to rest on the side of Yoongi’s face. “Can I kiss you?”

Yoongi stares at him, his eyes still wide as he slowly nods his head.

Jimin smiles, letting his hand run down Yoongi’s face to his shoulder as his other hand moves up to rest in his soft hair, carding his fingers through the short stands. Yoongi sits still, a cold statue in contrast to the burning sun that is Jimin. Jimin gives Yoongi one of his perfect eye smiles before closing the last inch between them, pressing his lips – softly – to Yoongi’s. Yoongi’s eyes fall shut as his hand grips tighter to Jimin’s shirt, his head getting lighter as Jimin presses closer to him. Jimin pulls back after a few seconds, smiling as he gently rubs the back of Yoongi’s head.

“I’ve been waiting for so long to kiss you.” Jimin rests his forehead on Yoongi’s, feeling him stiffen a little. “Can I do that more often now?’”

“Yeah, just,” Yoongi wets his lips as he takes another deep breath, “let me get used to it before you start doing that all the time, to me.”

“Okay, okay.” Jimin quickly gives Yoongi a peck on the lips before completely pulling back. “I’ll wait patiently.”

Yoongi gives a scoff but smiles, non-the-less.

Jimin leaves his arm wrapped around Yoongi’s shoulders, keeping up some physical touch as they finish their drinks. Once their sodas are empty, they move out of the booth and head outside. Jimin reaches down and grips Yoongi’s hand as they walk to their cars. Jimin had parked his car in the space next to Yoongi’s.

“I didn’t know you had a car.” Yoongi muses as he tries to get used to the feel of Jimin’s hand in his.

“I live on the outskirts of town, I had no choice. It’s a piece of shit though.” Jimin kicks the back bumper of his car before turning to face Yoongi.

The parking lot at this point is empty, a dead silence falling around them only broken by a light breeze. The lamp post above them shines down on them, giving them a spotlight on their own stage. Yoongi looks at Jimin, admiring the way his red hair seems to shine even in the dark of the night.

“I don’t wanna say goodbye.” Jimin finally says.

“It’s not goodbye you idiot.” Yoongi rollls his eyes. “Goodbye is for when we never see each other again.”

Jimin pouts, giving a huff. “Yeah but when you go separate ways you say goodbye to the person.”

“Then let’s not say goodbye, how about . . . ‘see you later’?”

Jimin tilts his head, thinking about it as he looks up at Yoongi, noting the way the light makes his hair glow. “I like that.”

“Okay, then I guess I’ll see you later.” Yoongi smiles a little, which makes Jimin blush this time.

Yoongi bites his lip as he looks down at their joined hands, finding it hard for him to let go, but he does. As he takes a step back, Jimin steps forward and goes up to his tip toes to give Yoongi another kiss before hurrying over to his car. Yoongi stands frozen under the light as Jimin smiles at him, biting his lip.

“Oh and Yoongi, why don’t you come in and see me before you go to the studio. I’m sure it would be better than you creeping outside the dance studio door every day.” As Yoongi’s face turns red as Jimin’s hair, the latter smiles and slides into his car.

Ducking his head to hide his blush Yoongi moves over to his car as Jimin gets starts his and backs out. Yoongi stands in his open door as he watches Jimin head out of the parking lot, but then his car stops for a minute before pulling out. As Yoongi watches him drive away he feels his phone buzzing. When he looks down at his phone screen, he sees the mystery boy’s – now know as his ray of sunshine, Park Jimin – contact appear with a text saying: I miss you already.

A wide, fully tooth grin takes over Yoongi’s face as he bites his lip, holding his phone close to his face as he slips into his car. He takes a second to compose himself before responding to Jimin with a short: me too.
