Chapter Text
After everything Player had been through, The little celebration Mayor Thaniyel had planned back in Turitopulis would be perhaps quite the respite.
Player had been.. Perhaps less than usual feeling since the incident with the Ghostwalker. Nor had they much time to really rest; and so they made the ultimate decision to stick around. I mean, might as well, right?
…
It was late in the night that Griefer found Player again — down by the docks in town. As it turned out, Griefer’s sleeping schedule was as horrendous as Player’s current case of insomnia.
“S0 3hh.. d1dnt th1nk y0u’d actually st1ck ar0und l0ng. G1v3n y0ur wh0le, 3pic qu3st th1ng.” He kicked at the planks slightly, stopping next to where Player sat on the end of the dock with his hands tucked into his pockets.
Player sat up — pulled out of their thoughts by his voice, wings twitching slightly as they responded, “…Uhh. Well, Shedletsky said the other sword guardians were holding up alright. So… I guess I’ll have to wait to go.. I mean, won’t have to go out and get those.”
Player corrected themselves, fidgeting with their hands and sinking back into their own head.
Griefer cocked his head to the side. An eyebrow raising, “Y0u sur3… th1nk a l0t ab0ut th0s3 fr3aky sw0rds d0nt y0u dud3?” He blinked a couple times, seemingly considering before he continued.
“1 uh.. m3nt10n3d 3n3rgy dr1nks back at my p1ac3, but 1 hav3 s0me l1ke.. dr1nk dr1nks 1n a c00l3r s0m3wh3r3 1 th1nk. Y0u s33m l1ke th3 k1nd 0f guy wh0 c0uld us3 a c0upl3 dr1nks and a f3w r0unds 0f l1k3… m0rtal c0mbat 0r s0m3th1ng.”
Player glanced over, “It’s pretty late for all that, isn’t it? I was going to get a room at the inn..”
“0kay. But l1k3. D0nt th1nk anyb0dy w1ll b3 th3r3 t0 ch3ck y0u 1n man. S3ri0usly, 1ts l1k3 0n3 1n th3 m0rn1ng.” Griefer replied, leaning on one of the wooden post now.
“L1ke. W3 d0nt hav3 t0 play gam3s 1f y0u d0nt want t0. But 1t’d f33l w31rd just. L3av1ng y0u 0ut h3r3, my guy.” He motioned to player with an open hand, “L1k3 dud3.”
Player stared up at him for a moment — eventually speaking, “Yeah you’re.. probably right. I guess I could stay in the… tree.”
“…B3tt3r than just 0uts1d3. W3 g0t l1k3.. w1ldl1f3 that hat3s y0u.”
