Summary:

You and Mingyu welcome a new family member

Work Text:

A sharp cry pierces the silent night and I stir to respond to it. A large hand soothingly stops me, and I feel him get out of bed, heavy footsteps plodding over to the source of the cry: the new life we had made together. The crying stops when, I assume, he has picked her up. He starts singing a song to her, the same one he sang to my tummy throughout the pregnancy, and I hear her coo at him. The heavy footsteps plod back to me and I feel the bed sink as he sits next to me. "Mama," he says, softly and gently, "special delivery." My eyes flutter open and I reach out to take our baby from him. I look up and see him smiling with love in his very tired eyes, hair tousled by sleep. He helps me maneuver to feed her, then settles on smoothing my hair down, patting my head. We both look at her, a gift from the heavens. She is the spitting image of him: large, slightly upturned eyes, full of warmth; full, naturally pouty lips with a deep deep philtrum (one of my favourite parts of his face); thick, expressive eyebrows. She seems to have inherited his personality too, friendly and happy about the simplest things in life. My heart swells with affection for the both of them. I take his hand and squeeze it, he leans down to kiss me on my forehead, whispering a word of thanks for birthing our daughter. Since the day she was born, he has thanked me at least 3 times a day for bringing her into the world. This time though, he says, "Thanks for making a mini Mingyu," laughing while gently stroking her chubby little cheek. I laugh with him, reaching up to cup his handsome face. He holds my hand to his cheek and closes his eyes for a moment. Our baby whines and his eyes fly open in attention. I'm about to get up to burp her when he takes her from me, expertly putting her onto his lap and gently patting her back. She eventually lets out a loud, gurgly burp and he says, "Now, THAT, she got from you." We sit for a few minutes, staring at her in silence, taking her in, wanting time to stop. He sighs, getting up to bring her back to her crib, "Say goodbye to mama so I can have her back," he says, lifting her little arm to wave at me. He shuffles back over to her crib, laying her down, whispering sweet nothings to her. In minutes he's back cuddling me, his hand draped over me. I turn over to him, "I love you." He leans in to kiss me, "I love you too mama. More than you will ever know." I turn around to nestle myself in his chest, fully content with this life I have.
