This refers to Sisyphus in Greek mythology.
2. "Once upon a time, a tragic general"
This refers to Julius Caeser.
3. "Once upon a time, a King and Queen."
This refers to Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
4. "Once upon a time, a man of great wealth put on a pair of red shoes."
This refers to the fairy tale, The Red Shoes, by Hans Christian Andersen
5. "Once upon a time, a nymph with a voice like running water"
This refers to the general story of the nymph Echo in Greek Mythology.
6. "Once upon a time, a fairy wove magic into the air"
This refers to Cinderella, a folktale with thousands of variants. Perhaps the best known version is by the Brothers Grimm.
7. "Once upon a time, a mortal cursed by the gods"
This refers to Io from Greek Mythology, as well as the moon Io orbiting the planet Jupiter.
8. "Once upon a time, a captain set sail beneath the heavens"
This refers to Odysseus and the Sirens in The Odyssey by Homer and in Greek Mythology.
9. "Once upon a time, an emperor ruled a kingdom built on facades"
This refers to folktale The Emperor's New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen.
