Work Text:
Sebastian was wandering through town heading for Lockwood Farm to pick Sera up for pool night at the saloon like he had done since he had finally gotten up the nerve to ask her out. It wasn’t something he had to do, just something he liked doing. But…something was different this time. The path to the farm looked….overgrown? Even parts of the bus stop got wilder the closer he got to it. Tendrils of fear began to thread their way through his mind, icy and sharp pricking at him like barbed wire. He picked up speed, the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach driving him forward. This was wrong. All wrong. Her house didn’t look like that anymore, all dilapidated and falling in on itself. The ivy climbing the walls had long been removed, the roof repaired, the door set straight on its hinges. There was no way. It couldn’t be. This couldn’t be it. He could see through the broken door that no one lived there. No furniture, no light, no happy bounding pup to bowl him over and lick his face. No Sera with her rosy blonde curls, bright laughter, and sparkling sea green eyes.
The radiant smile that had saved him over and over again since they met was missing, vanished with its owner.
He sprinted back to town praying he had been seeing things. When he walked into the saloon she’d be there, she’d smile and ask him why he looked like he’d just run a race. He slammed through the door beelining for the pool table where they always hung out. No sign of her. “Hey Sam, have you seen Sera today?”, he asked his best friend trying to keep the slight tremor of fear out of his voice.
Sam looked at him like he’d gone insane. “Who the fuck is Sera, Seb? You alright man?”
Seb glanced over at Abby who was staring at him like he’d sprouted two extra heads and felt the bottom of his stomach drop through the floor, a blanket of cold washing over his skin like he’d just been doused with a bucket of water. She was gone. Had never existed. Had none of it been real? She’d just been a figment of his imagination this whole time? His ears started ringing, he could barely hear what Sam was trying to say to him anymore right before his vision went dark and the floor fell out from beneath his feet —
Sebastian shot up out of bed, gasping, his heart beating a million miles an hour. That had to be a nightmare…didn’t it? There’s no way it wasn’t…but…fuck it. He slung off his blankets and slammed his feet into his boots, grabbing his hoodie off the back of the couch as he stormed out of the house and into the crisp night air. Pulling his hoodie on he started jogging towards the mountain path to Lockwood. The night air seemed to press in on him, almost suffocatingly thick with the humidity of the final days of summer and the subtle chill of fall vying for dominance. The foreboding feeling that came with it spurred him to move faster, speeding up until he was sprinting through the trees towards Sera’s farm.
Sebastian flew down the stairs to her property, darting through the gentle glow of the lamp posts making for the front porch. The farm seemed the same. Everything was the way it had been for almost a full season now. He didn’t care about that. Only her. His light. His sunshine. His reason for breathing. He had to see her. Had to know this was her work and not some other person’s. He vaulted up the side of the porch, ignoring the stairs and skidding to a halt in front of her door knocking frantically, silently begging her to open the door.
Please Yoba…..please let her open the door…..fuck, fuck, fuck! Please open the door Sera!
A light switched on inside the darkened house, the door creaking open to frame a disheveled sleepy Sera, rubbing one eye with her hand. The breath he didn’t know he’d been holding whooshed out of him. Her wide sea green eyes took in his unkempt appearance, surprised.
“Sebby? Baby what’s wro-mmph?!” She didn’t have time to finish her question before he crushed her to his chest, burying his face in her strawberry blonde curls, drawing in a ragged, shaky breath and fighting back the urge to sob into her hair as her light floral scent drifted into his nose.
“Nothing. I….I just had to see you. I had to make sure…I…,” he choked out, his voice catching in his throat. Warm arms wrapped around him, holding him tightly, her small hand rubbing tiny soothing circles between his shoulder blades. Her quiet acceptance broke him and the tears he’d been struggling against started running down his cheeks to drip onto her shoulder.
They stayed that way for a while, until Sebastian’s tears had stopped and his breathing slowed, the death grip he had on Sera loosening as he relaxed. The hand on his back hadn’t stopped moving as she waited patiently for him to quiet, her soothing presence steadying his turbulent emotions. Finally calm, he pulled back to dash the moisture from his eyes, red rimmed and puffy, avoiding her gaze and stuffing his hands into the pockets of his hoodie ashamed of his behavior. “Sorry about this. I’ll go…let you get back to sleep.” He muttered softly, his voice hoarse from crying, turning to head down the steps.
“Wait.” Sera caught hold of his arm, preventing him from leaving. He paused, her delicate fingers brushing his cheek, gently turning his face to look at her. She hadn’t tried very hard, he could have resisted it if he wanted to. He let her do it anyway, his stormy blue grey eyes meeting her sparkling sea green orbs filled with nothing but love and concern for him, a small, timid smile on her face. “Do you want to come in? I can make coffee.”
He squeezed his eyes shut, leaning into her touch. He took a deep shuddering breath and pressed his lips against her palm. “Are you sure…? I don’t want to bother you…”
“You could never bother me Sebastian. Come on. Let’s get you inside, Mr. Frog pajamas.” He glanced down as she tugged him inside. He was absolutely wearing his frog pajamas. He hadn’t even thought about it when he’d started his mad dash for Lockwood. The fact he was wearing pjs at all hadn’t even registered…oh Yoba he wasn’t wearing a shirt either, just the damn hoodie he’d grabbed on instinct on his way out of the door. His shirt was still hanging off his bedpost at home.
He wasn’t quite as self-conscious about it as he used to be since he’d started working out with Alex last winter but he still wasn’t entirely comfortable without one around others. Sera was a different story entirely.
She pulled the door shut behind him and trotted over to set the coffee maker to brewing, placing a steaming mug in his hands a few minutes later. “Sit. Drink. Do you want to talk about it?”
“Talk about what?”
“Whatever made you run here like the world was ending.”
He looked down at the mug in his hands avoiding her eyes. Sera moved from where she was leaning against the kitchen counter to take a seat next to him, resting her hand on his arm. “Seb. You know you can tell me anything right? It’s okay if you don’t want to, but I am here for you.” He scowled down at his coffee, upset with himself for making her think he didn’t want to talk to her. He just…didn’t know how to even start. He growled in frustration, scrubbing his face with his hands and leaning back in his chair to look up at the ceiling. Guess the only thing for it was to start talking.
“I…had a nightmare,” he began hesitantly, “You were gone…had never even existed or just never come to the valley. It…was awful seeing the farmhouse the way it was before you got here. And confusing since I knew it wasn’t supposed to look like that anymore. I started getting scared at that point. Ran to the saloon hoping you were there since it was Friday…you weren’t. I asked Sam if he’d seen you and…he…he didn’t even know who you were. No one did…I woke up after that. It felt…so damn real Sera. So real I was terrified that you were the dream and my nightmare was the reality. I…I had to come. To see you. Had to make sure I wasn’t…wasn’t crazy. That you do exist. You’re here and you love me and….” He choked back another sob. Just remembering the damn thing was enough to break him again.
Sera climbed into his lap, throwing her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly. He froze for a second before returning her embrace, pressing his face against her throat. By the time they broke a part their coffee had long gone cold. Sebastian pressed his forehead against hers, his hands gliding down to rest on her hips. “Can I…stay here tonight?” he mumbled nervously. If she said no he would leave but…if he did he knew he wouldn’t be sleeping. Gaming, maybe some coding but sleep was not going to be a thing after all this. She cupped his cheeks gently and planted a soft, sweet kiss on his lips.
“Of course you can Sebby.” She slid off his lap and took his hand leading him to her bed. Sera glided under the covers while he kicked off his boots and shucked his hoodie, climbing in next to her. Sebastian pulled her close and she snuggled into his chest slipping her arms around his waist as he wrapped as much of his body around her as he could. Resting his cheek on the top of her head Seb breathed in her delicate scent and let it lull him to sleep.
The sound of rain pattering on the roof pulled Sebastian from slumber, the fear from the night before a distant memory. A soft noise of contentment came from the woman in his arms and he smiled when her eyes fluttered open to meet his. The look of love and adoration on her face was so beautiful he couldn’t help himself. He had to kiss her. It started slowly at first, soft and sweet, then grew in hunger and need. His hands roamed her body freely sliding under her shirt to caress her skin. Sera gasped from the sensation, taking the opportunity he slipped his tongue into her mouth to play with hers. She wrapped her leg around his waist and Sebastian rolled them so that he was on top of her, gripping her thigh and hooking her other leg around his hip, breaking their kiss long enough to pull her shirt over her head.
“You’re so beautiful Sera…,” he whispered against her skin, trailing kisses from her jawline to her chest before taking a pert nipple into his mouth, thanking Yoba she never wore a bra at night. Her fingers wound themselves into his hair, the sounds she was making spurring him on he slipped a hand down her shorts to run a finger along her already soaked slit, dipping it into her entrance.
Her cries of pleasure rang in his ears as he pumped his finger into her, adding another when he felt her tightening. With a swipe of his thumb over her clit he had her tumbling over the edge screaming his name. His mouth came off her nipple with a wet pop and brought his fingers to his mouth to suck the results of his work off of them before stripping both of them of the rest of their clothes.
“Sebastian…,” Sera whimpered, reaching for him needily. He caught one of her hands with his, bringing it up to brush his lips against her knuckles as he lined himself up with her core, leaning over the top of her to press his mouth to hers in a searing kiss, taking his time pushing into her.
He groaned when he bottomed out inside her, dropping his forehead lightly against hers. “Shit….you feel so damn good, sunshine.” he whispered, entwining his fingers with hers, pressing soft kisses to her forehead, temples, cheeks, ears, before returning to her lips, slowly beginning to move within her.
“Ah…!” Sera keened as he picked up speed, placing open mouthed kisses along her throat to her clavicle, nipping and sucking at the skin there. She wrapped her legs around his waist, sending him deeper into her, pulling a very un-Sebastian like growl from his chest that sent shivers up her spine and a rush of heat to her core bringing her closer to the cusp of her climax.
He could feel her tightening around him, his own end drawing closer, his thrusts becoming more and more erratic, tucking his face in the crook of her neck as they moved together, each of them wildly chasing their own pleasure.
“SEBASTIAN!” She screamed his name in his ear, her orgasm hitting her at the same time as his. Seb bit into her shoulder gently to muffle his own involuntary cries of euphoria, pumping into her a few more times to work them both through the ruin they’d brought on themselves.
After a minute when his arms stopped shaking and he knew he wouldn’t fall on her the second he moved he rolled over with her, holding her close to his chest, and brushed her hair back from her face to plant tender kisses all over her face. “I love you Sera…so, so much.” he whispered softly, his warm breath ghosting over the shell of her ear, sending pleasant tingles through her.
She tilted her head up to press her lips to his sweetly. “I love you too Sebastian.” she sighed, snuggling into his chest again, drifting off to sleep to the sound of his heartbeat and rain on the rooftop.
