Nothing seemed to go your way today. Late for work, forgetting things, fumbling, stumbling and not feeling like yourself today. It frustrates you and makes you feel embarrassed even if no one notices it.
Here you are sitting on the bed, head in your hands and feeling still frustrated with yourself, you wanna cry, let it all out. But nothing comes out and you grip your hair more tightly because of it.
Suddenly you feel the bed dip and someone placing their hand on your back. You look up surprised and it's John, of course, but you thought he would be working late today.
"You alright, love?", he asks softly with his rumbling voice. And that question is enough for your breath to hitch, trying to say something, but tears stop you. And then the dam is broken. You sob and place your head on John's chest. John moves to sit better on the bed and then he pulls you on his lap to sit. His arms wrap around you, petting your back and brushing your hair, kissing your forehead softly. You dig yourself deeper in his comforting brace, breathing in his scent and feeling his soft wool sweater under your fingers.
He lets you cry, he lets you let it all out, he waits for you to calm down, he is just there for you.
You sniffle and explain shortly that this day hasn't been your day. You don't feel like yourself today and everything is not going like you want.
John listens to you and comforts you. Thank god, he came home at this hour. You're so thankful for him, that you start again crying. John looks panicked.
"I'm sorry, I just, I'm so happy you're here now", you sob and hug him tighter. John sighs in relief and kisses your temple.
"Don't cry, my love. I'm always here for you. In person or via phone call, you'll reach me in anyway and I'll always come to you", he whispers softly to you. You kiss his cheek and he hums happily. He kisses you on the lips and you melt. John pulls away and looks at you, he looks at you like you're something precious. He wipes away your tears and kisses every bit of your face.
"I love you, I love you so much. You're so important to me", he says.
