Work Text:
Walking into the sunroom, Cheng Xiaoshi yawns and stretches his arms upward. He’d thought the weekend would never come but it’s finally here, after a week of nonstop jobs coming in. At some point he was sure he was going to implode from the pressure. It admittedly tired him out to be going back and forth between their diving commissions and their regular ones, so a bit of respite is nice, especially when he can spend the day decompressing with his boyfriend.
Boyfriend. They’ve been together for more than three months—fourteen weeks and two days, to be precise—but the word alone still makes him giddy with happiness.
Speaking of—his eyes twinkle when he spots Lu Guang lounging on the couch, feet up on the coffee table as he reads. He has a serious look on his face that Cheng Xiaoshi thinks is awfully cute, and always has even before they made things official. Relieved that he can now relax with him after being occupied with work all week, he walks over with a soft smile, plopping right down on his shoulder.
“Hi, Guangguang,” Lu Guang doesn’t respond, at least not verbally, because what he does is he pulls him by the waist and kisses the crown of his head, inciting a pleased hum from Cheng Xiaoshi. “Is this what Qiao Ling got you the other day?”
“Mhm.”
Cheng Xiaoshi waits for him to elaborate. He doesn’t.
Looking up at him, he watches the movement of his eyes and the creasing of his brows. His fingers itch to reach up and smooth them down, so with the knowledge that he can actually do that now, he gives in to his whims.
Lu Guang meets his gaze. Cheng Xiaoshi smiles at him, happy that he’s gotten his attention. “What is it?”
“Nothing. You look so cute and serious when you read, you know,” he says with a teasing lilt in his voice.
At that, Lu Guang’s eyes narrow slightly. It’s the same kind of look he might give him when he’s seconds away from leaning down and capturing his mouth, and somewhere in his chest he can feel his heart stutter. He tips his head up and lets his eyes fall shut, fully expecting to be kissed senseless, perhaps even pushed to lay on his back—
But the sound of a page being flipped pulls him out of his daze and he blinks, staring up at Lu Guang who’s once again engrossed in his book.
Cheng Xiaoshi pouts at him. Why is he still reading when he has a perfectly kissable boyfriend right here in his arms? “Lu Guang.”
The only indication he gets that he even heard him is his brow twitching upward. He won’t even bother looking up from his book! His frown deepens and he tries to snatch the thing from Lu Guang’s grasp, but he quickly dodges the attempt. It’s almost worth it for the way the arm around him tightens, nails digging into his waist, and for a second he forgets what he’s supposed to be doing.
“Xiaoshi,” Lu Guang says in an admonishing tone. “Why are you trying to steal my book?”
“I…” Cheng Xiaoshi falters, trying to come up with a reason that doesn’t make him sound like an overly needy partner. “I just wanted to take a look at it. You just seem, uh, pretty invested…”
Lu Guang studies him in a way that tells him he doesn’t believe a word of what he said. But instead of pushing it, he just pulls him closer and starts on a new page. “You can look at it later.”
“But—”
“Shush, I’m almost done with this chapter…” his boyfriend trails off, distracted by whatever he’s reading.
It can’t be that good… he thinks to himself, pouting as he slumps against Lu Guang. He crosses his arms, fully sulking now. It’s a little ridiculous to be acting like this because he knows this is just Lu Guang’s way of unwinding, and on a normal day he wouldn’t have minded it but he currently has other ideas of unwinding that aren’t being fulfilled! They haven’t had much time to themselves lately so Cheng Xiaoshi thought maybe Lu Guang will be up for it… He sighs to himself. He’s obviously not in the mood to be properly intimate right now.
Before he can even try to rein in his disappointment, he’s already extracting himself from Lu Guang’s hold and moving to the opposite end of the couch, pulling out his phone. He pulls his knees to his chest and feels eyes on him as he does so. It’s really taking all of his self-control to not glance his way and see what face he’s making, so he starts scrolling faster, not really absorbing any information.
He hears a sigh and a soft thud on the coffee table. Lu Guang slowly slides over to him, as if testing the waters, then rests a hand on his knee. “Cheng Xiaoshi.”
Cheng Xiaoshi stays silent. There’s another sigh, and the hand on his knee squeezes. “Hey.”
“…I thought you were busy,” he mumbles, still refusing to look up at him. He can practically hear the cogs in his brain in the brief silence that follows, processing his words. There’s no doubt Lu Guang has figured it out already, as he always does, but he coaxes it out of him regardless, fingers cradling his chin.
“Sorry. I’m not now,” he leans over to kiss his temple and he involuntarily melts into it, letting his phone fall on his stomach. “What’s wrong?”
“I want…” Cheng Xiaoshi feels embarrassment coloring his cheeks now that he’s saying it out loud. But in the months they’ve been dating his boyfriend has been so adamant in getting him to voice out his needs and wants, so… “I–I just wanted to… kiss you.”
Lu Guang stares at him, head tilted like a cat. Cute. “You can kiss me anytime.”
Cheng Xiaoshi rolls his eyes but it’s not out of annoyance. “Well, yes, but you were reading and you seem like… I just didn’t want to bother you, so I didn’t…”
He watches Lu Guang worry his lip and run his tongue over it, like he does sometimes when he’s thinking hard, then press his mouth to his bare knee. “I’m sorry. I should’ve paid more attention to you. Can I…?”
Despite himself, he smiles a little at the apologetic kiss. “I thought you had a chapter to finish, A-Guang…”
“That can wait,” Lu Guang whispers, pushing himself between Cheng Xiaoshi’s thighs and meeting him in a slow, sweet kiss. His arms are around him in an instant, fingers tangling in his hair and pulling him as close as he can, making sure there’s not a lick of space left that’s separating them.
Like most of their kisses, they take their time savoring each other’s taste, hands gentle as they wander and caress until they feel hot to the touch, almost scalding, making Cheng Xiaoshi desperate for more. Lu Guang takes his lower lip with his teeth and his mouth falls open in a sigh, which his partner sees as a chance to slip his tongue in. A soft whine escapes him, earning him a chuckle. He slides further down and eventually his head hits the cushion with Lu Guang fully bent over his body, gripping his waist and deepening the kiss, doing absolutely nothing to calm his thundering heartbeat.
Lu Guang nuzzles his jaw and drags his mouth along the skin, all the way down to his pulse point, where he places an open-mouthed kiss and sighs. A shudder runs through him when he feels teeth sinking in. Dazed, Cheng Xiaoshi stares at the ceiling as Lu Guang makes a mess of his neck, his breathing becoming heavier by the second. His boyfriend knows he’s sensitive there; it’s coincidentally also his favorite place to kiss and mark.
He makes a happy noise when Lu Guang comes up to his mouth again. His hands snake their way into his clothes, over the planes of his stomach, making him gasp into the kiss. It’s easy to get Cheng Xiaoshi so worked up from just the simplest of touches, Lu Guang has discovered, so when those fingers trail over his chest he inadvertently bucks his hips up, whining. This seems to spur his boyfriend on because he presses him down with his weight, the faintest roll of his hips causing him to moan a little louder than expected. Oh. Maybe he’s actually more pent-up than he thought.
“Lu Guang,” Cheng Xiaoshi pushes at his shoulder. He could stay here and kiss Lu Guang for hours but it wouldn’t be enough.
“What is it, Xiaoshi?” he kisses him on the cheek.
Instead of answering, he sits up and pushes on Lu Guang’s chest until he’s leaning back on the couch, then crawls over to straddle him and swallow his questioning hum. Lu Guang matches his enthusiasm and hugs him tight, almost squeezing his arms to his sides, much to his delight. He loves when Lu Guang holds him like this, as if he’s an oversize teddy bear. It had surprised him to find out that before they confessed to each other, Lu Guang had essentially been holding back. Like, a lot. For so long his indifference made Cheng Xiaoshi hesitate but it became clear soon enough that this is something he wants just as badly, that he’s willing to meet him halfway. And knowing he’s the only person Lu Guang is this sweet and gentle with… It’s like seeing a side of him that nobody else is privy to. The thought makes his heart swell.
“What’s so funny?” Lu Guang pulls away slightly, whispering against his mouth. Cheng Xiaoshi didn’t even realize that he was giggling like a fool.
“Nothing,” he says once he’s calmed down a bit. “I just—I love you so, so much. I love you,” he presses a kiss to his nose. “I love you, I love you, I love you—”
“Okay, Xiaoshi,” Lu Guang interrupts, the tips of his ears growing pink. Cheng Xiaoshi wants to nibble on them. “I love you, too.”
Bowing his head, his lips graze his collarbones. His hands drift down his arms then fall on his thighs, where he begins massaging with his fingers. “More than anything in the world.”
Cheng Xiaoshi lets out a tiny whine when he’s pulled further into Lu Guang’s lap. Finally, finally he lets himself move against his stomach, his boyfriend’s hands settling on his waist beneath the loose white shirt. He starts kissing him again with new fervor but it barely muffles the needy sounds coming out of his mouth. It feels so good and he can’t help but rub a little faster, even adding a little bounce to his movements. It doesn’t take long until he feels the strain in Lu Guang’s pants, too, so he spreads his legs just so and grinds down slowly. He’s rewarded by a quiet groan right in his ear.
“Guangguang,” his words come out breathy. “A-Guang, Lu Guang, I–I know you don’t like to do it on the couch because—because of the mess, but, w–what if—”
There’s a nip at his shoulder, making him yelp. “No. Don’t even think about it.”
“Lu Guang,” he shows off his best pleading face, hips not faltering in the slightest. Cheng Xiaoshi knows he’s irresistible like this: his cheeks tinted a pretty pink, deep-brown eyes glittering with mischief, his lips parted slightly as he presses closer and closer. All the while Lu Guang keeps his face as neutral as possible—or at least he tries to, because his brow twitches when Cheng Xiaoshi squirms in his lap. “The bed is so far away…”
“And you are a brat,” Lu Guang sighs.
“Aiya, you’re too mean,” Cheng Xiaoshi huffs, hiding in the crook of his neck. “Fine… but… I’m close.”
Lu Guang holds him through it, stroking his hair as the pleasure builds up in his gut. He kisses his neck almost feverishly and his boyfriend responds by tipping his head back to give him more room, which he latches onto in an instant. Beneath him, Lu Guang pants softly and murmurs his name, and the sweetness in the way he says it is enough to throw him over the edge, hips stuttering. His teeth sink into his shoulder as he finishes in his shorts, then he seals the bitten skin with a kiss once he’s spent.
Sighing contentedly, Cheng Xiaoshi all but collapses in Lu Guang’s arms. “Guangguang, if you don’t want to ruin the couch, you’ll have to carry me upstairs.”
“Brat,” he can just hear him rolling his eyes. “As if I don’t already do that every time.”
With that, Lu Guang pushes him off his lap and slips his arms under him, hoisting him up. Cheng Xiaoshi laughs out loud, clearly delighted. He giggles and kisses all over Lu Guang’s face, who proceeds to scold him after nearly stumbling on the way up.
In the sunroom, Lu Guang’s book is forgotten on the coffee table and left untouched for the rest of the day.
