For me today and tomorrow is Christmas day

Summary:

Prosecuter Park Jimin hoped the holidays would make for an escape from the annoying terror that is Defense Attorney Jeon Jungkook, his so-called rival that could get on his nerves seamlessly just for the fun of it.

But oh was he about to be proven wrong.

or

Jimin and Jungkook are whipped idiots too stubborn to actually talk it out until one Christmas party changes everything.

Notes:

I wrote this last Christmas all in one night. Hope you enjoy the holiday cliche au sleep deprived me managed to come up with!

Please keep in mind that I'm not a lawyer and have no idea how courtrooms or trials actually work. I tried my best.

Work Text:

Jimin took his place at the prosecution table, feeling the usual anticipation before a trial. There were quiet discussions among the jury, random small talks that filled the silence. It was nice background noise, helped Jimin find his focus.

He then looked towards the other side of the courtroom, seeing Jungkook, with his black hair, lip ring, and that annoying confident smirk, strolling casually to the defense table, his tattoos peeking out from under his suit.

The judge announced the start of the trial, and Jimin began presenting his case meticulously, every word calculated for maximum impact.

The evidence against Jungkook's client seemed overwhelming, but Jungkook only leaned back in his chair, a cocky grin playing on his lips. "Your Honor, let's not rush things. We're here to find the truth, aren't we?"

Jimin shot him a disapproving look but maintained his composure, continuing to build his argument. He knew he couldn't afford to miss any point, because Jungkook would catch everything, latch onto any gap he could insert into his own argument.

He knew Jungkook only looked like he was half listening and uninterested, when in reality, it was just psychology, his way of making his opponents a little calmer, overconfident, less careful with their words.

Jimin knew Jungkook, and he was not going to fall into any of those traps.

However, as he spoke, Jungkook interjected with a sarcastic remark that drew laughter from the courtroom. "Jimin, you're making this sound like a tragedy. It's just a misunderstanding, a little drama for the holiday season."

Jimin's jaw clenched, hating how unserious Jungkook was, but he pressed on, presenting evidence after evidence, while Jungkook continued casting doubt on each point, leaving the jury with a lingering uncertainty.

During a recess, Jimin couldn't help complaining to his co-counsel. "Hoseok, I can't stand his arrogant attitude. It's like he doesn't take anything seriously! I just want to punch him in the face."

Hoseok nodded understandingly, used to Jimin's frustration whenever Jungkook was involved. "Well, definitely don't do that, but I'm sure it'll be fine, Jimin, you're great at what you do."

And as the trial resumed, Jungkook's charisma continued to work its magic. He cross-examined witnesses with flair, turning the courtroom into his stage. Jimin, however, remained stoic, determined to counteract Jungkook's theatrics with solid arguments.

The closing statements approached, and Jimin delivered a strong summary of the evidence against Jungkook's client. But Jungkook, in his closing statement, turned the tables, leaving the jury with lingering doubts about the case. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, sometimes things aren't as they seem. Let's not rush to judgment."

The jury deliberated, but the judge couldn't come to a conclusion, and decided it would be best to continue the trial the next day.

Jungkook smirked, knowing it meant he would most likely win the case the following day, as he had managed to plant a lot of doubt within the jury. By the look on Jimin's face, he knew it too.

He walked over to where Jimin was standing, as he usually would. "Nice try as always, Jimin-ssi."

Jimin shot a glare at Jungkook, his frustration evident. "This isn't a game, Jungkook. Lives are at stake."

Jungkook chuckled, undeterred by Jimin's intensity. "You take everything so seriously. Relax a little."

Jimin clenched his fists, fighting the urge to snap back. "You're defending a guilty person, Jungkook. How can you be so nonchalant about it?"

Jungkook leaned in, his lips close to Jimin's ear. "Because, Jimin-ssi, I like a good challenge. And I like to come out on top even more, especially when it's against you. See you tomorrow."

He flashed Jimin a playful salute and began to saunter away.

But Jimin hurried after him, not feeling like their conversation was done yet. He caught up to him and tried pulling him back by the wrist, but he wasn't easily movable and instead Jimin found himself crashing into Jungkook's back.

Jungkook turned, a smug grin on his face as he swiftly caught Jimin, steadying him by the waist to prevent him from stumbling. "That eager to talk to me, love? Couldn't wait until tomorrow?" He knew Jimin hated that nickname.

Jimin scowled at the endearing term, pushing against Jungkook's chest to regain his composure. "Don't call me that, and this isn't about talking. It's about the fact that you're defending someone you know is guilty."

He knew his words were irrational, as any person standing trial had to have a lawyer defending them, guilty or not, but Jungkook just got on his nerves so much so logic went out the window.

Jungkook's grin widened, enjoying Jimin's irritation. "That doesn't matter, everyone deserves a good defense. It's the game, Jimin-ssi."

Jimin, frustrated, freed himself from Jungkook's grasp. "This isn't a game for me. People's lives are on the line, and you're treating it like some kind of show."

Jungkook's expression shifted, a hint of seriousness in his eyes. "You're too uptight. Learn to enjoy the dance, it might make you a better dancer."

Jimin scoffed, turning to leave. "I don't need lessons from you."

Jungkook's voice was a low hum. "Can't argue with that. You definitely look like a good dancer," he said, eyes drifting down to Jimin's curves.

Jimin shot Jungkook a withering glare, his irritation reaching its peak. "Keep your comments to yourself, Jungkook. We're not here to discuss my appearance."

Jungkook chuckled, seemingly unfazed by Jimin's hostility. "Touchy, touchy. But seriously, Jimin, lighten up. You'll find the courtroom more enjoyable that way."

Jimin shook his head, dismissing Jungkook's advice. "I take my job seriously, unlike some people."

Jungkook leaned against the corridor wall, a playful glint in his eyes. "Serious can be boring, Jimin-ssi. You should try a different approach. Who knows, you might actually like it."

Without waiting for Jimin's response, Jungkook pushed himself off the wall and strolled away, leaving Jimin seething with a mix of frustration and an unresolved sense of curiosity.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Later that day, Jimin decided to go grocery shopping to buy some wine and snacks. His best friend, Taehyung, was coming over to his apartment tonight after weeks of not having gotten a chance to hang out because both of them were busy with their respective jobs, Jimin being a lawyer and Taehyung being a model.

Jimin was dressed in simple black jeans and an oversized white and red Chanel sweater. Because when he wasn't at work where he had to wear suits, he liked to look cute, even putting on some pink lip gloss and dangly earrings.

As he walked down the aisles of the grocery store, he couldn't shake off the events of the courtroom clash earlier. His mind kept replaying Jungkook's confident grin and the infuriating charm that seemed to accompany him everywhere.

Lost in his thoughts, Jimin almost collided with a display of chocolate. He sighed, trying to refocus on the present. After all, he had a relaxing evening with Taehyung to look forward to.

After picking out some snacks, he went over to where the wine section was, looking at the different bottles until a familiar, teasing voice came from behind him.

"Would you look at that? Almost didn't recognize you out of your suit."

Jimin turned to see Jungkook leaning casually against a shelf, a smirk playing on his lips. Irritation flashed in Jimin's eyes, but he chose to ignore Jungkook's comment. "What are you doing here, Jungkook?"

Jungkook chuckled, tilting his head, but his eyes drifted down to Jimin's shiny pink lips. "I'm obviously grocery shopping. This is a grocery store in case you haven't noticed, Jimin."

Jimin raised an eyebrow, unamused by Jungkook's banter. "Very observant of you." He let his eyes scan Jungkook's outfit, as he also had never seen him without a suit before.

Jungkook was wearing a grey hoodie and grey sweatpants, his hands were sitting in his pockets casually, but a golden Rolex peeked subtly from his wrist.

Jungkook smirked, enjoying the attention. "Like what you see, love? How's my casual look?"

Jimin scoffed, refusing to let Jungkook's playful demeanor affect him. "Save the charm for the courtroom, Jungkook. I'm not interested in your fashion choices."

Jungkook chuckled, pushing himself off the shelf. "Alright, alright. No need to be so serious all the time. For the record, I think your casual style is cute. Are you wearing lip gloss?"

Jimin rolled his eyes, feeling a mix of annoyance and amusement. "Is there a reason you're so interested in my lip gloss, Jungkook?"

Jungkook winked, unabashed. "Just appreciating the effort you put into looking cute, Jimin-ssi. Even outside of the courtroom, you're quite a sight."

Jimin sighed, choosing to end the conversation. "I have plans tonight, so if you don't mind, I'll continue with my shopping."

Jungkook's expression soured a bit, but he masked it well, his gaze turning to the wine shelf behind Jimin before returning to him. "Getting wine? For what? A date night?"

Jimin resisted the urge to snap back at Jungkook. "Why do you care?!"

Jungkook shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Just a question. Was just wondering."

Jimin gave Jungkook a skeptical look but decided not to divulge any more information. "It's none of your business, Jungkook. Now, if you'll excuse me."

He turned away, grabbing a bottle of wine and making his way to the checkout counter. Jungkook, however, wanted to at least have the last word.

"Maybe I'll see you around, Jimin-ssi. Enjoy your evening... whatever it may be," Jungkook called after him, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Jimin shook his head, pushing the lingering encounter with Jungkook to the back of his mind. Tonight was about catching up with Taehyung, not entertaining the antics of someone like Jungkook, who seemed to appear at the most inconvenient times just to annoy him to no end.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Jungkook sighed after finishing his own grocery run, starting the five minute walk home through the snowy streets. What did he expect? Jimin was pretty, smart, and successful. Of course he'd have a partner already. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at that though.

His steps felt weighed down by a mixture of disappointment and contemplation. The chilly air doing little to cool the burn of frustration that was feeling. He loved how passionate and determined Jimin always was in the courtroom, and had always wanted to get to know him beyond his professional persona.

Lost in his thoughts, Jungkook reached his apartment building, the snowflakes dusting his hair and shoulders. As he unlocked the door, he couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that maybe he had missed an opportunity to experience something beyond their courtroom arguments. But he didn't know that for sure, right? And he definitely wasn't one to give up.

Jimin sighed in relief when he finally stepped inside his apartment, turning on the heating and putting the snacks into bowls before going to the kitchen to get two glasses.

Just as he finished organizing everything, there was a knock on the door. He rushed to open it, and practically jumped into his best friend's arms, hugging Taehyung tightly. "Tae! Oh my god, I missed you so much!"

Taehyung laughed, returning Jimin's hug with equal excitement. "Jiminie! I missed you too! It's been way too long." He held Jimin at arm's length, examining him. "Looking cute as always. You look tired, though, don't tell me you're back to your smutty webtoon era."

Jimin rolled his eyes, playfully swatting Taehyung's arm. "No, definitely not!"

Taehyung raised an eyebrow, grinning mischievously. "Then spill, Jiminie, what is it?"

Jimin chuckled, leading Taehyung to the living room. "Work's been hectic, and then I had a particularly annoying encounter at the grocery store."

As they settled on the couch, Jimin recounted the courtroom clash and the unexpected run-in with Jungkook. Taehyung listened with wide eyes, a mixture of amusement and curiosity evident on his face.

When he was done, he was eager to change the subject, not wanting to think about it anymore for tonight. "But enough about that, let's just enjoy our night, Tae."

Taehyung grinned, raising his glass. "To a night of catching up, snacks, and forgetting about courtroom drama!"

Jimin clinked his glass with Taehyung's, a smile spreading across his face.

They ended up talking about a bunch of things. The conversation eventually reaching the point of Taehyung telling Jimin about a guy he hooked up with at some afterparty of one of his modeling events. "He was really good. Honestly, I'm not one for restroom sex, but it was hot as hell."

Jimin burst into laughter, shaking his head. "Tae, I can't believe you sometimes. Restroom sex, really?"

Taehyung shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Hey, when the mood strikes, you gotta go with it."

Jimin chuckled, sipping his wine. "I could never keep up with your adventurous lifestyle, Tae. I'm just trying to survive the courtroom drama."

Taehyung grinned, leaning back on the couch. "Speaking of that drama, what's the deal with you and Jungkook? There's more to the story, I can feel it."

Jimin sighed, recounting other encounters with Jungkook, both in and out of the courtroom. Taehyung listened intently, occasionally interjecting with playful comments.

"Sounds like a love-hate relationship. Or maybe just hate," Taehyung teased.

Jimin rolled his eyes. "Definitely hate. He's infuriating, Tae. And today, he had the audacity to comment on my lip gloss. Can you believe that?"

Taehyung burst into laughter. "I think he might be trying to get your attention in his own weird way. You never know."

Jimin scoffed. "I doubt it. He's just an arrogant flirt."

Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "Arrogant flirt or not, there's definitely something about him that gets to you, Jiminie. Maybe you're just in denial."

Jimin shook his head, dismissing the idea. "No way. I can't stand him." But he couldn't completely shake off the lingering thoughts of Jungkook, wondering if there really was more to their dynamic.

Taehyung took a sip from his glass as well. "You know, even if you hate him, there seems to be a lot of tension from all the stories you've been telling me. Maybe you two just need to fuck it out. I've done something like that before with a co-model I hated and it worked."

Jimin choked on his wine, eyes widening at Taehyung's suggestion. "Tae! Seriously? That's your solution? Sleeping with someone you can't stand?"

Taehyung shrugged, a mischievous grin on his face. "Hey, it worked for me. Sometimes, all that tension just needs an outlet. You'd be surprised."

Jimin shook his head, laughing nervously. "I don't think I could ever do that with Jungkook. It's just... too much."

Taehyung chuckled. "Why? Is he ugly or something?"

Jimin's cheeks flushed at Taehyung's question. "No, he's not ugly. In fact, he's..." Jimin hesitated, searching for the right words. "He's infuriatingly attractive, and that's part of the problem. I can't stand the way he flirts and acts like he owns the place."

Taehyung wiggled his eyebrows playfully. "Oooh, sounds hot. Do you have any of his socials? I wanna see a pic."

Jimin's eyes widened, an exasperated groan leaving his lips. "Tae, seriously? You're not going to leave this be, are you?"

Taehyung laughed, raising his hands in mock surrender. "Hey, just curious. I want to see the face that causes so much drama in your life. For research purposes, of course."

Jimin rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress a smile. "Fine, I'll show you a picture."

He took out his phone, scrolling through social media until he found a picture of Jungkook. Handing the phone to Taehyung and watching his friend's reaction.

Taehyung whistled, a playful smirk on his face. "Damn, Jimin. He's not just attractive, he's smoking hot. No wonder you're so bothered."

Jimin snatched his phone back, a blush creeping up his cheeks. "Tae, stop. This is not helping."

Taehyung chuckled, leaning back. "Well, if you ever change your mind about that tension relief, you know what to do. For now, let's just enjoy the night and forget about hot lawyers and courtroom drama."

Jimin couldn't help but laugh, grateful for Taehyung's ability to lighten the mood.

"Oh, speaking of tension relief, there's this party one my model friends, Seokjin, is throwing. It's on Sunday next week. A Christmas party. Everyone gets to bring a plus one, wanna come with me? It's gonna be really fancy," Taehyung asked.

Jimin smiled brightly, it's been far too long since they've gone out to a club or party together. "I'd love to. It's a good distraction from work, might be just what I need."

Taehyung grinned, excitement evident in his eyes. "Awesome! It's a deal, then. We'll show up, have a great time, and forget about all of our worries for a while."

As they clinked their glasses in agreement, Jimin couldn't help but look forward to the upcoming Christmas party, anticipating a night of fun and a temporary escape from the complexities of his professional life.

Eventually, Taehyung put down his wine glass and stretched. "Anyway, Minnie, I have to head out, I have a photoshoot for Celine tomorrow morning."

Jimin nodded, understanding Taehyung's busy schedule. "No problem, Tae. Thanks for coming over. It was great catching up."

Taehyung got up from the couch, pulling Jimin into a tight hug. "We'll do this again soon, okay? And maybe try to find a way to deal with that tension of yours."

Jimin chuckled, returning the hug. "We'll see about that. Take care, Tae, and good luck with the photoshoot."

As Taehyung left, Jimin couldn't help but feel grateful for his best friend and how he could effortlessly ease his worries.

Jimin cleaned up the bowls of snacks and went to take a hot shower. He took off his clothes, putting a calm playlist on his phone and stepping into the shower.

Under the warm cascade of water, Jimin let the soothing sensation relax the tension that had built up throughout the day. The steam filled the bathroom as he allowed his mind to wander, the soft holiday songs creating a tranquil atmosphere.

After his shower, he dressed in comfy pjs, making himself a cup of tea and walking into his large bedroom.

He sat down on the side of his bed, looking out at the gorgeous Seoul city view from his floor-to-ceiling glass window.

Moments like these always reminded him how privileged he was to have his dream job and making enough from it to be able to afford anything he wanted.

Jimin wrapped his hands around the warm mug of tea, savoring the comforting herbal aroma as he gazed out at the glittering Seoul cityscape. He couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had led him to become a successful lawyer. The sacrifices, the long hours, and the determination to get justice that had shaped his career.

Sipping the tea, Jimin allowed himself a moment of gratitude. It wasn't just about the material luxuries, it was about the satisfaction of achieving his goals and the ability to enjoy the simple pleasures, like a quiet evening with a cup of tea and a breathtaking cityscape.

As he settled into the plush pillows of his bed, Jimin let the serene atmosphere wash over him, appreciating the stillness of the night and the sense of accomplishment that came with it.

The one thing he didn't have, was a relationship. It was one thing that being gay in Korea wasn't easy, but the main thing was that his job was time consuming, and he just didn't have time for dating.

Jimin stared at his reflection in the window that was mirroring a hint of loneliness. The longing for companionship tugged at his heart, but the reality of his demanding career overshadowed those desires.

He was a little jealous of Taehyung. His best friend didn't mind hookups or short term relationships, so he had no problem getting any companionship and intimacy whenever he wanted.

Jimin was different, he just wasn't built for hookups or anything like that, only something serious. But he hasn't had a relationship in three years, and he couldn't lie and pretend he didn't miss the intimacy aspect.

Closing his eyes, Jimin was able to hear Taehyung's words in his head again.

His cheeks flushed at the memory of Taehyung's blunt suggestion echoing in his mind. The idea of resolving tension through physical intimacy, especially with someone like Jungkook, felt absurd.

As he replayed Taehyung's words, Jimin couldn't shake the persistent thought that maybe there was truth in the unconventional advice, but the idea of going down a path like that with Jungkook? No way. But he was a little curious...

With a sigh, Jimin set everything aside. Making impulsive decisions won't help. He wasn't one to act on impulse anyway.

He got into bed, covering himself with his thick blanket and closing his eyes again, knowing he had to get a good rest for the continuation of the trial tomorrow morning.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Jimin woke up to his phone alarm clock going off, sleepily grabbing the remote from the bedside table and opening the electric blinds to let sunlight into the room.

The sunlight spilled into Jimin's room as he stretched and reached for his phone to silence the persistent alarm. He sat up in bed, taking a moment to appreciate the pink hues of the sunrise painting the Seoul skyline.

He then got up, going to do his skincare routine and brush his teeth before having his usual cup of coffee along with a light breakfast.

Jimin moved through his morning routine, the familiar steps grounding him for the day ahead, with the continuation of the trial awaiting.

His life was demanding, but quiet mornings like these always gave it a sense of stability and normalcy.

As he sipped his coffee, Jimin glanced at the cityscape outside his window, the morning sunlight casting a golden glow on the surroundings. The routine acts of self-care served as a quiet preparation for the day. Every morning before a trial with Jungkook as the opposing attorney feeing like a calm before the storm.

After finishing his breakfast, Jimin headed back to his room to dress, putting on a grey suit, wanting a break from the usual black and white. He decided not to wear contacts either, not wanting to bother with them today, instead grabbing his thin-rimmed, round glasses and putting them on. And with a final few small adjustments to his hair, Jimin left his apartment, ready to head to work and do his best as he always did.

Jimin entered the courtroom, greeting the jurors and co-counsel. The trial was set to begin in an hour, so in the meantime, he reviewed his notes, mentally preparing himself.

Jungkook then walked in, all eyes turning to him as he did. He was wearing a black suit as usual, but wasn't wearing a tie, instead the white dress shirt under his suit jacket having an extra button open, revealing some of his chest.

He commanded attention, his outfit exuding casual confidence, and a polished yet slightly edgy air. It was so Jungkook to dress this way, to challenge the formality of the legal setting they were in.

The atmosphere in the courtroom shifted, and even Jimin couldn't deny the impact of Jungkook's entrance despite not giving it any reaction.

Some of the female jurors giggled, playfully fanning themselves as they whispered things to each other about Jungkook. Jimin wanted to roll his eyes, because of course...

It was probably just what Jungkook intended, his charm and charisma being calculated moves to subtly influence the proceedings.

With a steadying breath, Jimin returned his attention to his notes, readying himself to navigate the trial with the precision and professionalism that had always defined his approach.

What Jimin didn't see, since he was focused on his notes, was that Jungkook wasn't paying attention to the female jurors' reactions at all, not even sparing them a glance.

Jungkook couldn't help but feel a little frustrated that the one person he wanted to see the reaction of, wasn't looking at him.

He clicked his tongue, putting his usual cocky half smile on his lips and walking over to where Jimin was sitting. "Burying yourself in your notes in order to try to beat me today, huh? It's not gonna work, love."

Jimin looked up from his notes as Jungkook spoke to him. And despite Jungkook's outward confidence, he could sense an underlying frustration in his tone.

"Winning in court requires preparation, not distractions," Jimin replied calmly, meeting Jungkook's gaze with a determined expression. "And I don't need theatrics to make a compelling case."

"Theatrics? Is that what you call my choice of style today?" Jungkook asked, chuckling in hope that it would rile Jimin up and make him react to it. "You think I dressed up for theatrics?"

Jimin maintained his composure, refusing to let Jungkook's attempts at provocation rile him. "Dressing up can be a personal choice or a strategic one. I don't particularly care what your reason was."

He returned his attention to his notes, showing that he wasn't going to fall for Jungkook's attempts to engage him in a more personal exchange or an argument.

Jungkook nibbled on his lip ring in frustration at not able to get Jimin to say what he thought of his outfit, so he decided to tell the blonde what he thought of his outfit instead. "Well, Jimin-ssi, I couldn't help but notice you also dressed differently today. I've never seen you in glasses before, they're cute."

Jimin raised an eyebrow, a hint of surprise flickering in his eyes at the unexpected compliment. He didn't even think Jungkook would notice.

"Thank you," Jimin replied with a polite tone, not giving away much of his thoughts. "Sometimes a subtle change can be refreshing."

He resisted the urge to engage further, recognizing Jungkook's attempts to get a reaction out of him. He knew that in court, they were evenly matched in terms of skill, so he felt more in control during trials, but when it came to their small, personal conversations outside of it, Jungkook nearly always had the upper hand, since he could get on Jimin's nerves so easily.

As Jimin averted his gaze back to his notes again, Jungkook walked over to his own seat, a pang of disappointment weighing on his chest. Jimin didn't react in the way he wanted at all...

Jungkook cracked his knuckles and stretched his neck as the final minutes ticked down until the trial started, the courtroom was now full, with everyone waiting for the judge to be able to continue yesterday's trial and reach a conclusion.

The judge took the bench and the trial resumed, Jimin stole a glance at Jungkook, then steeling himself and preparing to give his opening statements.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

The trial once again reached the conclusion stage, and everyone was waiting for the judge's verdict.

Jimin held his breath, knowing Jungkook's client was guilty, but also knowing that Jungkook was an expert at planting doubt, which could also result in a not-guilty verdict despite the clear evidence Jimin presented.

The judge then announced the result.

"The court rules in favor of the defendant, Kang Jihoon. This verdict is final unless an appeal is filed within the specified time frame."

The announcement echoed through the courtroom, the weight of the words settling over the space. A collective murmur of surprise and tension rippled through the audience. Jimin, despite expecting the possibility of a not-guilty verdict, couldn't completely hide the frustration that flickered in his eyes.

Jungkook, on the other hand, maintained a composed exterior, a faint smile playing on his lips. His eyes immediately flickered to Jimin, smile growing wider when he noticed Jimin was already looking at him.

Jimin, despite the frustration lingering beneath the surface, managed to maintain his composure. His gaze met Jungkook's with a stoic expression, not wanting to let the subtle satisfaction on Jungkook's face affect him more than necessary.

As the courtroom began to disperse, he collected his notes and headed out of the courtroom, but he could feel Jungkook's presence behind him.

Jungkook's breath was warm in his ear, startling him. "You were good, love, but not quite good enough."

Jimin kept his pace steady, not letting Jungkook's close proximity unnerve him. The whispered words sent a shiver down his spine, but he refused to show any sign of discomfort.

"Success is subjective, Jungkook," Jimin replied, his voice steady. "We'll see how the next trial goes."

He continued walking, leaving Jungkook's presence behind as he focused on the path ahead.

"You're not even gonna congratulate me? I'm a little offended, Jimin-ssi," Jungkook chuckled, still trailing behind him.

Jimin turned to face Jungkook, his expression not giving any of his feelings away. "Congratulations on a well-played defense, Jungkook. But don't mistake acknowledgment for approval."

Jungkook shook his head, but the smile didn't disappear from his face as he increased the pace of his steps until he stood in front of Jimin, blocking his path. "Come on, that's the congrats I get? Where's the enthusiasm? I even dressed up today all for you and you didn't even react to it."

Jimin's gaze remained unwavering as Jungkook blocked his path, the playful banter failing to get the reaction Jungkook seemed to seek. "Sure, Jungkook, whatever you say."

He sidestepped Jungkook, continuing on his way without allowing the lingering tension to escalate.

Jungkook pouted slightly, but Jimin had his back to him so he didn't see. "I complimented your look, though. Grey looks good on you."

Jimin responded with a hint of acknowledgment, "Thank you for the compliment, Jungkook," he spoke through tight lips, hoping that would get Jungkook to leave him be already.

Jungkook ran his hand through his hair in frustration before gently grabbing Jimin's wrist, pulling him back to face him. "Wait," he hummed, a playful glint in his eyes. "How about we celebrate my victory with a cup of coffee? My treat."

Jimin felt the gentle pull on his wrist, and he turned to face Jungkook with a raised eyebrow, his expression unreadable.

"Celebrating your victories is not a priority for me," Jimin replied, his tone firm. "I have more important things to do. Maybe another time." He wasn't going to let Jungkook mock him or show any kind of reaction to his provocations.

He took his wrist out of Jungkook's grasp, maintaining the professional boundary between them.

Jungkook didn't continue walking after Jimin, instead watching him walk away. He sighed, shoulders slumping slightly. Why did this have to be so difficult?

As Jimin walked home, he tried calming himself down, still feeling down from the loss in the trial despite knowing Jungkook's client was guilty. He felt like he failed his client, not giving him the justice he deserved. He almost never lost a case, and the few times he did were always to Jungkook.

It annoyed him to no end. And what was even up with Jungkook's weird behavior today? What was he trying to get out of it?

As he reached his apartment, Jimin decided to work more, to channel his frustration into preparation for future cases.

He entered his office room, leaning his head on the table with a sigh. "Stupid annoying Jeon Jungkook..." he mumbled to himself, unable to help it, still feeling the weight of the loss and the lingering irritation from Jungkook's presence in the courtroom.

"I even dressed up today all for you," he mimicked Jungkook's words from earlier, using a mocking tone and scoffing bitterly. "What the fuck did that even mean?"

Jimin decided to call Taehyung, needing to vent out his frustrations from today. He grabbed his phone, quickly finding Taehyung's contact name and pressing the call button.

"Hey, Minnie. What's up?" Taehyung's cheerful voice came through the phone when he picked up after a few rings.

"Hey, Tae," Jimin began, his tone carrying a mix of frustration and exhaustion. "The trial today didn't go well. I lost, and it was to Jungkook again. I don't understand his behavior, and it's driving me crazy."

"What did he do this time?" Taehyung asked, his tone amused.

"He was his usual infuriating self in court, planting doubt even when the evidence was clear. I know it's his job but still!" Jimin sighed, frustration evident in his voice. "But what's bothering me more is his behavior outside the courtroom. He mentioned dressing up 'all for me' and then invited me for coffee to celebrate his victory. I just don't get it, Tae. It's like he's playing some weird game."

Taehyung only chuckled. "Come on... it's so obvious..."

Jimin raised an eyebrow at Taehyung's chuckle, he was acting as if he knew something he didn't and it made him slightly uneasy. "Obvious? What do you mean, Tae? I can't make sense of his actions at all."

"Jimin, it's clear as day. He's so into you. All those flirty comments, dressing up 'all for you,' inviting you for coffee - classic signs. He's just not being straightforward about it."

Jimin's froze at Taehyung's words, not knowing what to say for a few moments. "Tae... you watch too many dramas. This is Jungkook we're talking about. The guy who challenges me in court and flirts shamelessly just to annoy me. It's just the way he always acts around everyone."

Taehyung's laughter came through the phone. "Jimin, I've been around enough to recognize when someone's into someone. Trust me, Jungkook might have a way of showing it that's... unconventional, but the signs are there."

Jimin sighed, still skeptical but intrigued. "I find it hard to believe. We're always at each other's throats in court, and he's never been shy about his flirtatious behavior. Why now?"

Taehyung's voice took on a teasing tone. "Maybe he finally realized he can't win you over just with courtroom banter, so he's trying a different approach."

Jimin couldn't help but roll his eyes at Taehyung's interpretation. The idea of Jungkook being genuinely interested in him felt like an alternate reality, like it would never happen in a million years.

Taehyung noticed Jimin's silence and spoke up again. "I don't understand why you're so against even the idea of him possibly liking you. Is the prospect of it really that bad?"

Jimin hesitated before responding, his thoughts swirling with a mix of emotions. "It's not about the idea of someone liking me, Tae. It's about Jungkook. He's infuriating, unpredictable, and we clash in and out of the courtroom. I can't wrap my head around the possibility of there being more to it. It feels... complicated."

Taehyung knew Jimin was overthinking things and decided to reassure him. "Complicated doesn't mean it's impossible or bad. Sometimes, the best things are the ones that challenge us and make us rethink our assumptions. Just consider it, Minnie. You never know what might come out of it."

After another long silence, Taehyung sighed. "Look, if you hate the guy then you hate the guy. But I still think at least fucking him once would help ease the tension. Hate-fucking is a real thing, you know. And Jungkook's hot."

Jimin couldn't help but blush at Taehyung's straightforwardness. "Tae, I appreciate your unique solutions, but I'm not gonna hate-fuck him. No way in hell."

Taehyung laughed again on the other end. "Alright, Minnie. You do you. But remember, sometimes a little tension relief can work wonders. And if you change your mind about Jungkook, I want all the juicy details."

Jimin couldn't help but chuckle too at Taehyung's persistence. "I highly doubt that'll ever happen, Tae. But thanks for trying to help me navigate this mess. I'll figure it out somehow."

"I stand by my words that he's into you, though," Taehyung insisted.

Jimin sighed, acknowledging Taehyung's perspective. "I don't even think he's gay but whatever you say, Tae."

Taehyung clicked his tongue. "How do you know?"

"I don't know, Tae. Jungkook's never shown any interest in men before, at least not publicly. And he's flirtatious with everyone, not just me. I think you might be reading too much into it."

"Well, people surprise you sometimes. Just keep an open mind, Minnie. And if nothing else, at least it's a good distraction from the stress of your cases."

Jimin nodded, appreciating Taehyung's attempt to lighten the mood. "Thanks, Tae. I'll keep that in mind. I should probably get some rest now. Goodnight, I love you so much."

"Bye, Minnie, goodnight."

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

In the morning, Jimin decided to go out to have breakfast since the trial he had today was starting at noon, and thankfully, it wasn't against Jungkook this time.

He sat down at his favorite coffee stand near Hangang, getting a caramel latte and an egg bacon toast, enjoying the crisp winter air. It was a warm day for winter, even though everywhere was covered in snow.

The cup warmed his hands as he took small sips, watching the gentle flow of the river. It was fairly quiet at this hour, with only the occasional cyclist passing by.

"Mind if I take a seat? The other tables are all taken. Thanks," the person sat down in front of him with his own coffee, not even waiting to hear his answer, and none of the other tables were even occupied. He knew exactly who it was without even needing to look.

Jimin looked up to see Jungkook sitting casually in front of him, sipping on his coffee.

The fucking audacity...

With a raised eyebrow, Jimin couldn't help but remark, "You know, you really have a talent for making an entrance, Jeon."

Jungkook grinned, leaning back in his chair. "Why, thank you, Park. I do aim to impress."

Jimin sighed, resigned to the reality of sharing his breakfast spot with his rival, or whatever Jungkook was.

Jungkook leaned his elbow on the table, leaning his cheek on the palm of his hand. "Are you impressed is the question."

Jimin couldn't help but roll his eyes at him. "Hardly impressed, more like mildly annoyed. But I suppose that's your specialty, isn't it? Annoying people."

The corner of Jungkook's lip curled up in amusement. "Well, you know what they say, Jimin-ssi. It's the annoying ones that leave a lasting impression."

Jimin took a long sip of his caramel latte to avoid seeing Jungkook's irritating expression. "Is there a particular reason you're joining me for breakfast, or are you just here to add chaos to my morning?"

Jungkook chuckled. "Well, I actually come here every now and again for breakfast. I was going to just get it to go, but I saw you and knew I couldn't let a cutie sit all alone, right?" He flashed Jimin a wink.

Jimin couldn't hide a slight blush at Jungkook's teasing remark. "I don't need company, especially not yours."

Jungkook laughed again, undeterred by Jimin's response. "Come on, Jimin-ssi, lighten up a bit. We're just sharing a breakfast spot. No need to be so serious all the time."

He then took a moment to look Jimin's outfit, realizing he was dressed for court. "Aren't you working a little too hard? Already going on another trial today?" He furrowed his eyebrows. "You shouldn't stress yourself out."

Jimin raised an eyebrow at Jungkook's sudden concern, his skepticism evident. "And why do you care if I'm working too hard or not, Jungkook? Spare me from any advice you want to give, because I'm really not interested in hearing it. I want to enjoy my morning in peace and quiet, thanks."

Jungkook sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Okay then..."

Jimin was a little taken aback by Jungkook's reaction, and the moment settled into a temporary silence as he thought over it.

Jungkook's signature cheeky smile returned, although it didn't reach his eyes now. "Guess I'll see you in court next time we meet. I'll be waiting. Until then, Jimin-ssi." He offered a playful salute and got up, taking his coffee with him and walking away.

Jimin watched as Jungkook walked away, feeling the familiar sense of irritation mingling with something he couldn't quite pinpoint.

"Until then..." Jimin muttered to himself.

Jungkook kicked a random stone as he turned a corner, walking through the snowy streets, his breath coming out in little visible puffs from the cold.

He couldn't help but sulk a bit, but maybe it was because he was aiming for something that was unrealistic in the first place. He was trying so hard to get Jimin to warm up to him, but nothing seemed to be working... he couldn't just confess all of a sudden because Jimin would definitely say no that way.

No one else has ever left him as lost in what to do.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Jimin ended up winning the trial easily, the defense lawyer he was up against was good, but not nearly good enough. He wasn't even a challenge really. It was almost boring from how easy it was, which Jimin guessed was a good thing. It was no surprise that he won, though, because no one ever challenged him in court... well, except for the one person he hated...

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

As the week slowly came to an end, giving way to the weekend, Jimin and Taehyung went clothes shopping in preparation for Seokjin's Christmas party on Sunday. They both wandered around the mall, walking into all their favorite, expensive name-brand stores.

"Oh my god! This Gucci jacket looks perfect on you! You have to get it, Minnie. You look so hot! Drop dead gorgeous!" Taehyung looked at his best friend in excitement.

Jimin chuckled at Taehyung's enthusiasm, glancing at himself in the mirror while wearing the Gucci jacket.

"Alright, Tae, you convinced me. It does look pretty good," Jimin admitted, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.

"Maybe you can bag a hottie at Seokjin's party, there's gonna be a lot of models we work with coming. Seokjin himself is a total dilf, but he has a boyfriend already," Taehyung nudged him.

Jimin laughed at Taehyung's playful teasing, shaking his head. "You're still thinking about that, Tae? I'm not going to a party just to 'bag a hottie.' Besides, I'm not really interested in casual flings, you know that."

Taehyung winked, unfazed by Jimin's response. "Well, just enjoy the party and the eye candy then. Who knows, maybe someone will catch your eye. Anyway, there's apparently going to be a crazy good DJ too. Heard he's a famous rapper called Agust D."

Jimin's eyes lit up. "Agust D? Seriously? That's insane! I've heard some of his music before, he's really talented. This party is going to be crazy!"

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

It was Sunday evening. Jimin stood in front of hits bathroom mirror, doing the finishing touches on his makeup.

He decided to doll himself up for tonight, wearing a white Gucci design shirt topped with the black leather and festive pink and green sequin Gucci jacket he bought with Taehyung. Along that he wore black skinny leather jeans that showed off his dainty curves in all the right places and his favorite black Chelsea boots.

For accessories, he put on a small Chanel necklace, dangly earrings, and a few cute silver rings on his fingers.

His makeup was a smokey eye look and sparkly pink lip gloss.

Just as he was done, Taehyung texted him that he was waiting for him in the car in front of his building.

With a final glance at his outfit and makeup in the mirror, Jimin grabbed his phone and headed out, ready to join Taehyung for Seokjin's Christmas party, making his way to the car.

They arrived at Seokjin's massive Hannam The Hill apartment.

Taehyung excitedly took Jimin's hand and they both squealed in excitement as they entered, seeing the colorful party lights, the mass of people, and the Christmas decorations. In the corner, a big Christmas tree stood, all decorated extravagantly, making the space feel like a winter wonderland.

Seokjin spotted Taehyung and quickly made his way over, holding someone's hand. "Taehyung-ah, you made it! And you must be Jimin, Taehyung talks about you all the time. I'm Seokjin and this is my boyfriend, Namjoon."

Jimin reciprocated the warm greeting. "It's great to finally meet you, Seokjin. Tae talks about you a lot too. Thanks for having us at your party."

Seokjin grinned, "Any friend of Taehyung is a friend of mine. Make yourselves at home, and enjoy the party!"

They walked further inside, mingling with the crowd.

"Drinks first?" Taehyung asked, already making his way to the apartment's bar that was tended by a professional mixologist, dragging Jimin with him.

Jimin chuckled as Taehyung eagerly led the way to the bar. "Drinks sound like a great idea. Let's see what they have."

They both downed some tequila and soju shots before getting gingerbread baileys cocktails and walking over to where most people were dancing.

Taehyung pointed at the DJ stand. "That's Agust D! Do you think we could get autographs by the end of the night?!"

Jimin's eyes lit up with excitement. "We'll definitely try! This is so cool."

They immersed themselves in the music and the energetic crowd, ready to make the most of the festive night, but Jimin stopped in his tracks when he saw him.

No. No fucking way...

In a different corner of the room, dancing alongside a group of people with a drink in hand, was Jungkook

He was wearing a black turtleneck sweater topped with an unbuttoned suit jacket and black dress pants and shoes. He had hoop earrings and a silver chain necklace that caught the light along with his usual lip ring. It was unfair how good he looked. How his tight turtleneck accentuated his pecs, making them even more defined, his biceps could be seen even through the sweater and suit jacket, and his muscular thighs filled his dress pants perfectly.

Jimin's heart raced, a mix of surprise and frustration washing over him.

Taehyung noticed Jimin's change in demeanor and raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong, Minnie?"

Jimin hesitated before responding, his gaze still fixed on Jungkook. "Jungkook's here..."

Taehyung looked over at where Jimin was looking. "Holy shit, he looks hot as hell. But just ignore him, he's here to chill and have fun just like us. He's probably someone's plus one, it's no big deal. Let's focus on us!"

Jimin took a deep breath, trying to shake off his initial discomfort. "You're right, Tae. Let's enjoy the party. No room for being moody tonight."

Taehyung grinned, pulling Jimin back into dancing, letting the music drown out any lingering thoughts about Jungkook's unexpected presence.

As the night continued, the pulsating bass of Agust D's festive remixes helped Jimin get his mind off everything, making him able to let go and just enjoy.

The vibe seemed to get more intense the more time passed, and Jimin and Taehyung both kept drinking until they were giggly messes on the dance floor.

Taehyung leaned his head on Jimin's shoulder. "I'm gonna go get another drink! You want some more too?" He asked, slurring on his words a bit.

Jimin shook his head. "I'm good, don't want to get blackout drunk. You go get one, Tae, just be careful!" He tried to be serious but laughed for no reason.

Taehyung grinned, stumbling slightly as he headed toward the bar. Jimin continued dancing to the music, catching glimpses of Jungkook in the crowd, still unable to fully shake off the surprise of seeing him at the party. Jungkook seemed to be enjoying himself too, his presence effortlessly drawing people in.

After some more time, the fast paced party music changed to a slower remix of a Christmas beat, lights dimming a sensual purple to match. Jimin felt a little dizzy from the lights, everything seeming just a little more blurry.

As the slow rhythm of the Christmas remix took over, couples began to gravitate toward the dance floor. The dimmed lights added a touch of intimacy to the atmosphere, and Jimin found himself swaying to the sensual beat, getting lost in it, until he accidentally bumped into a firm chest, making him lose balance from the alcohol.

He didn't fall, however, as strong arms wrapped around his waist, making sure he was steady.

"Shit, sorry. I didn't notice where I was goㅡ Jimin?"

Jimin, slightly disoriented, looked up to see Jungkook's surprised expression. The proximity was unsettling, and Jimin's heart raced as he realized he was in Jungkook's arms. The dim lights and the slow, sensual music adding an unexpected layer of tension.

"It's you," Jungkook murmured, a mix of amusement and something else in his eyes. His grip on Jimin's waist didn't waver, holding him close.

Jimin, still processing the situation, managed to find his voice. "Jungkook? What are you doing?"

Jungkook's lips curved into a playful smile. "Dancing, apparently. Didn't expect to run into you, though."

Jimin watched as Jungkook's eyes slowly trailed down, looking at his outfit appreciatively. He then realized that Jungkook was also not as sober as he looked, just like him, he had a slightly hazy, glazed over look in his eyes that seemed even darker than usual.

Jimin was going to speak but felt his head spin, trying to ground himself with something, instinctively leaning forward which inevitably brought him closer to Jungkook.

Jungkook started moving then with pleased smile, swaying them to the slow music.

Caught off guard by the sudden sway of the dance, Jimin found himself moving in rhythm with Jungkook. The music's heavy tempo intertwined with the haze of alcohol, creating a strangely intimate atmosphere between them.

Jungkook's hold on Jimin tightened subtly, guiding their movements in a way that felt surprisingly natural. "You look great," he hummed.

The compliment, along with that tone, sent a shiver down Jimin's spine, and the alcohol made him more honest than he would usually be. "You too," he admitted, feeling the warmth of Jungkook's body, the subtle scent of his cologne, and his irritating magnetism that always drew them closer despite their rivalry, but this was definitely different to their usual interactions.

Jimin felt even dizzier as more people crowded the dance floor, a lot of them were pressed up against each other, adding to the already heavy atmosphere.

The pulsating beat of the music synchronized with the erratic rhythm of his heartbeat, caused by the sensory overload of lights, bodies, and mingling scents of alcohol and perfume. All that mixing with the weight of the unresolved emotions between them.

Jimin allowed himself to let loose as the alcohol hit him harder, just going with the flow of things. He instinctively started swaying his hips a little more, feeling the music.

Jungkook leaned closer to whisper in his ear. "See? I knew it. I could tell you'd be a great dancer."

Jungkook's words, tinged with his usual teasing confidence, sent another shiver down Jimin's spine. The proximity between them heightening the electricity in the air.

He couldn't help but chuckle, the alcohol and the beat of the remix amplifying the playful energy. "Maybe you're not entirely wrong," Jimin admitted, wrapping his arms around his neck without really realizing.

As the remix played on, Jungkook leaned back slightly, maintaining eye contact with Jimin. The flickering lights reflected in his dark, enticing gaze, and a mischievous smile played on his lips as he pulled Jimin even closer. "You've been making things hard for me, love, I have to admit," he murmured, brushing a stray blonde hair out of Jimin's eyes.

Jimin's breath hitched at Jungkook's proximity. He met his gaze with pink flushed cheeks, feeling a swirl of conflicting emotions, only managing to hum in response, not trusting his words right now. "Hmm?"

Jungkook continued their dance with a subtle intensity. "You're pushing me away all the time. I've been trying really hard, you know."

Jimin's mind was a haze of mixed emotions, the alcohol making it difficult to fully comprehend Jungkook's statement. He spoke in a soft tone, barely audible over the music. "Trying hard for what?"

Jungkook, a hint of sincerity in his gaze, guided them through the dance with a gentle sway, leaning closer to Jimin, their breaths mingling. "To get a glimpse of the real you, beyond the courtroom and the witty banter. It's not easy, love."

Jimin didn't know what prompted his response, but his eyes locked on Jungkook's lip ring as he moved closer. He was dizzy and his heartbeat was uneven, matching with the beat of the music in a way that made him lose all composure, and Jungkook looked ridiculously good from so close when he was looking at him like that, and before Jimin realized it himself, he impulsively grabbed the edges of Jungkook's suit jacket and crashed their lips together.

Jungkook was caught off guard, any words he was going to say were completely drowned out by Jimin's lips, but he quickly kissed back.

"I hate you so much, I can't stand it anymore," Jimin whispered in frustration against Jungkook's lips, his words slurred.

Jungkook chose to ignore Jimin's words, letting Jimin deepen the kiss, parting his lips for him, their tongues meeting hurriedly.

Jimin's hands started trailing down from Jungkook's neck to his chest, feeling the hard pecs through the fabric of the black turtleneck sweater he was wearing.

Jungkook responded to Jimin's touch with a gentle intensity. His own hands dropping from Jimin's waist to his ass, pulling Jimin even closer to him but pulling away to breathe, which made Jimin let out an impatient whine, chasing his lips and connecting them with his own again.

After a while, Jungkook pulled away again, his eyes fixed on Jimin's swollen lips. "You want to go to my place, love?"

Jimin, his breaths uneven and desire evident in his eyes, met Jungkook's gaze with a mix of anticipation and vulnerability.

A subtle nod from Jimin conveyed his agreement, and Jungkook gently took his hand with a soft smirk, leading the way through the crowd. The dim lights and the pulsating music accompanied them as they navigated through the party towards the front door.

Once they were outside, standing in the cold night air, Jungkook called a taxi and after a short ride, they arrived at his apartment.

Jimin was definitely not as drunk as he was back at Seokjin's place, managing to sober up considerably during the taxi ride.

Jungkook unlocked his house's front door, it was a fancy place near Hannam. He took both of their shoes off at the entrance and continued inside.

Jungkook took Jimin by surprise with what he did next, lifting him up effortlessly by the thighs and walking them to his bedroom, gently laying Jimin down on the bed and crawling on top of him.

He cupped his cheek, looking at Jimin with sparkling eyes. "Are you sure this is okay, love?"

Jimin, caught between the whirlwind of emotions and the intensity of the moment, met Jungkook's gaze with a mix of desire and a hint of hesitation. The dim light in Jungkook's bedroom cast shadows that played on their faces, adding to the charged atmosphere.

A quiet acknowledgment escaped Jimin's lips before he had the chance to really think about it, "Yes," as he traced Jungkook's jawline with his fingers, the room feeling warm with anticipation. The agreement lingered in the air, and Jungkook leaned down to capture Jimin's lips in a soft yet passionate kiss.

Jimin didn't really know why he said yes, he never did one night stands or hookups. It was never what he wanted. But here he was, doing just that, with none other than Jungkook, who he absolutely hates.

He couldn't bring himself to care at the moment, though, when Jungkook was kissing him like he meant it.

Jungkook then pulled away momentarily, removing his suit jacket and then his turtleneck sweater.

Jimin let out an audible gasp at the sight.

He knew Jungkook was muscular, but this was more than he expected. And Jungkook's right arm was fully exposed, revealing a sleeve of colorful tattoos that stretched from his knuckles up to his shoulder.

Jungkook chuckled. "Surprised? My tattoos are cool, huh?"

Jimin, still caught between surprise and arousal, managed a nod. "They're... impressive." The acknowledgment was accompanied by a genuine curiosity, his eyes tracing the colorful ink that adorned Jungkook's arm.

Jungkook leaned close again. "Can I take your jacket and shirt off too, love?"

Jimin hesitated for a moment, a mix of conflicting thoughts running through his mind. Eventually, he nodded, allowing Jungkook to keep going.

Jungkook removed Jimin's jacket and shirt with care, revealing his smooth skin and gentle lines. "So pretty," he murmured, bringing his lips to Jimin's neck, starting to trail kisses there.

The sensation of Jungkook's lips on his neck sent a shiver down Jimin's spine. The unexpected tenderness in Jungkook's actions contrasted with their usual interactions, creating a complex mix of emotions, and Jimin found himself caught in the heat of the moment.

Jungkook nibbled softly on the sensitive skin, feeling Jimin's goosebumps in response to his teasing.

Jimin's breath hitched at the sensation, his body reacting to the unexpected intimacy. The playfulness and teasing banter that usually characterized their interactions in the courtroom were replaced by a charged atmosphere, one that held a hint of vulnerability.

Jungkook then made his way down, kissing along Jimin's collarbone before moving to his chest, lingering there and taking one nipple into his mouth.

Jimin let out a quiet gasp as Jungkook's lips and tongue teased his nipple, the unexpected pleasure sending a shiver through his body and his hand tangling in Jungkook's hair, tugging slightly.

Jungkook smirked at Jimin's soft gasp, giving his nipple one last flick with his tongue before moving further down, kissing along his navel before looking up. "Can I take off the rest of your clothes?"

Jimin, caught in the whirlwind of sensations and desire, nodded in agreement. The boundary between animosity and attraction blurred in the dimly lit room as Jungkook's hands swiftly removed the remaining clothes.

Jimin's eyes widened, Jungkook was big. He was only half hard, but he could see how big he was. It made him let out a shaky breath as Jungkook started kissing along his inner thighs.

The room was filled with a charged energy as Jungkook continued to explore Jimin's body with a sensual determination.

Jungkook sucked a few marks on the soft skin of Jimin's inner thighs. "Feel good, love?"

Jimin's breath hitched as Jungkook's question hung in the air. The pleasure mingled with the unfamiliarity of the situation, creating a heady mixture of sensations. He could only manage a soft moan in response, his fingers involuntarily tangling in the sheets.

Jungkook moved up a little, pressing a kiss to the tip of Jimin's already hard cock before taking it into his mouth.

Jimin's breath hitched again and another low moan escaped his lips, his fingers threading through Jungkook's hair as pleasure cascaded through him. "J-Jungkook..."

Jungkook started bobbing his head, focused on making Jimin feel good as he flattened his tongue against his length.

Jimin's hips lifted off the mattress, accidently thrusting into Jungkook's mouth with a high pitched cry. He was so dizzy with pleasure, his hands tangling roughly in Jungkook's hair, keeping him right there.

Jungkook's mouth eventuality stilled, leaving Jimin a panting mess. He was so close, needed just a little more, but Jungkook just stopped moving.

With a teasing glint in his eyes, Jungkook hovered over Jimin, their gazes locking. Jungkook's lips curled into a smirk, his fingers tracing a delicate pattern along Jimin's thigh.

"Can I prep you, love?" Jungkook leaned down to peck his lips, and Jimin felt the slight chill of his lip ring against his own lips.

Jimin nodded, his voice a breathy murmur. "Yeah."

Jungkook reached for the nightstand drawer by the bed, pulling out a small bottle of lube and a condom. He hummed as he slicked up his fingers. "Sorry for stopping like that. Couldn't let you come too early, love. I'll make it up to you. Hope you forgive me," he winked, gently spreading the lube around Jimin's rim before slipping one finger inside, moving it in and out slowly. "How's that, love? Okay?"

Jimin let out a shaky breath, nodding hurriedly, "Y-Yeah, feels good."

Jungkook slipped in a second finger, scissoring it along with the first, curling them and looking for Jimin's sweet spot. "Yeah? You're doing so well for me, love. Tell me if anything doesn't feel good."

Jimin's breath caught in his throat, letting out a soft whine. "Feels... feels amazing. Keepㅡahㅡgoing."

Jungkook pushed in a third finger, finally finding Jimin's prostate, rubbing his fingers against it repeatedly. "Fuck, there it is."

Jimin's body tensed in response, and a string of incoherent moans escaped his lips. "A-Ahㅡ" he nearly choked on his sharp intake of breath, arching off the bed.

Jungkook took in every one of Jimin's reactions, his fingers not letting up. "You're so responsive, love. Ready for more?" he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice.

Jimin, lost in the haze of pleasure, could only manage a breathless nod in response.

Jungkook, attentive to Jimin's reactions, gently pulled out his fingers. "You're doing so well, love. I've got you," he reassured, his voice a soothing murmur. He cleaned his hand and moved to tear open the condom packet, rolling it on swiftly and coating himself in lube before lining himself up. "Is this still okay?"

Jimin's eyes met Jungkook's, a mix of desire and vulnerability reflected in their depths. He swallowed hard, his voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, it's okay."

Jungkook's gaze never left Jimin's as slowly pushed inside, wanting to make sure he was okay.

The mixture of pleasure and slight discomfort made Jimin's heart race. Jungkook gave him a moment to adjust, his gaze just as warm and patient as his tone as he caressed Jimin's hip. "Tell me when I can move."

Jimin took a moment to adjust to the sensation before nodding subtly, steadying his breath. "You can... you can move."

Jungkook began thrusting in at a slow and steady rhythm. "F-Fuck... Jimin, you're perfect." He held Jimin close, pressing their foreheads together, their breaths mingling.

Jimin's hands found their way to Jungkook's hair again, twirling in the dark stands and pulling him closer so their lips met again, moaning loudly into Jungkook's mouth.

Jungkook groaned in return, letting out a breathy chuckle against Jimin's lips. "You're a handful, huh? Needy but demanding. It's so fucking cute," he increased his pace, finding Jimin's prostate and thrusting into it harshly.

Jimin's lips forcefully detached from Jungkook's as he threw his head back. "Ah! J-Jungkook!" He felt his head spinning from how good he was feeling, eyes rolling back.

Jungkook let out a low moan. "Fuck. Say my name like that again, love. Wanna hear you," he buried his head in the crook of Jimin's neck, sucking at the skin as he felt his thrusts becoming erratic, having a hard time to hold on so he took Jimin's cock in his hand, stroking it in rhythm.

Jimin arched off the bed with a broken moan, his body pressing against Jungkook's as he came all over Jungkook's hand and his own stomach. "Jungkook!"

As Jimin clenched around him, Jungkook growled, coming into the condom inside Jimin. He continued thrusting, helping them both ride out their release.

Jungkook let his forehead gently rest against Jimin's as he tried to catch his breath. He reached out to gently cup Jimin's cheek, thumb caressing the flushed skin. "How are you, love?"

Jimin's chest rose and fell with the rhythm of his breath as he felt the warmth of Jungkook's forehead against his own. The gentle touch on his flushed cheek making him shiver. "I'm..." he started, his voice a soft, hesitant murmur. "I'm okay."

Jungkook's lips curved in a soft smile. He slowly pulled out of Jimin, grabbing some wet wipes from a small pack on his nightstand and gently cleaning them both. "I'm glad, Jimin."

Jimin's gaze followed Jungkook's movements as he cleaned them both, the tenderness in the action creating a subtle intimacy.

As Jungkook was done, throwing the wet wipes in the trash, Jimin met his gaze. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice carrying a genuine sentiment.

Jungkook lied down next to him, pulling Jimin close to his chest, humming in contentment. "Don't have to thank me, love." He pressed a kiss to the top of Jimin's head and closed his eyes.

The room settled into a serene quiet. Jimin allowed himself to be pulled into Jungkook's arms, the rhythmic rise and fall of their breaths syncing as they drifted off to sleep.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Jimin woke up feeling slightly disoriented as he didn't feel the familiar softness of his own bedsheets. Nevertheless, he shuffled slightly, enjoying the warmth he was wrapped in.

The soft morning light gently seeped through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. And the rhythmic sound of Jungkook's even breathing indicated that he was still asleep.

Jimin's eyes suddenly widened, as if last night's events finally caught up to him. He distanced himself from Jungkook's bare chest, detangling himself from Jungkook's arms without waking him and stumbling out of the bed hurriedly, grabbing his clothes off the floor.

What the hell did he do?! Why the fuck did he let that happen?! And why did Jungkook go along with it?!

Jimin hurriedly dressed, making sure his phone was in his jeans' pocket before practically bolting out of Jungkook's house.

He looked around, relieved that he Hannam wasn't far from Yongsan and he could take a taxi home fairly quickly.

When he finally reached his apartment, he grabbed fresh clothes and dragged himself to the shower.

He just couldn't believe he broke his own values for whatever the fuck that was. He never wanted one night stands, never settled for them for anyone. So why the fuck did he let Jungkook of all people sleep with him, what was wrong with him?!

Jimin's thoughts echoed in his mind as the water washed away the remnants of last night.

Dressed in fresh clothes, he stood before the bathroom mirror, meeting his own gaze with confusion and disbelief.

He took an advil and settled into his bed, putting his phone to charge and sliding open the screen, seeing 15 missed calls from Taehyung and a bunch of messages.

Jimin's heart sank as he noticed the missed calls and messages from Taehyung. The weight of the night's events and the subsequent emotional whirlwind left him both physically and mentally drained.

With a heavy sigh, he decided to return Taehyung's call, bracing himself for the inevitable questions and concerns that awaited on the other end of the line.

Taehyung immediately picked up. "Minnie! Thank god, I was so worried!"

Jimin's voice was strained as he replied, "Tae, I'm okay. I just needed some time to... process things."

Taehyung's concern was evident. "What happened? You disappeared from the party. I went to get a drink and started talking to this one guy and when I came back you weren't anywhere. I ended up getting Agust D's signature and I got him to sign an album for you too. Did you leave? What do you mean process everything?"

Jimin took a deep breath before responding, "I... I went to Jungkook's place after the party. We... things happened."

There was a brief silence on the other end before Taehyung exclaimed, "Wait, you and Jungkook? What happened? Are you okay? Did he do something to you?"

Jimin hurriedly clarified, "No, no, it wasn't like that. It was consensual. I just... I don't know why it happened. I never wanted something like this, Tae. I'm so confused and frustrated with myself."

Taehyung's voice softened, "Jimin, it's okay. People make impulsive choices sometimes, especially when emotions are involved. Just talk to me about what you're feeling."

Jimin sighed, "I don't know, Tae. I'm not even sure why he went along with it. He was the one who suggested we go to his place. Why the fuck did I agree?"

Taehyung responded gently, "Jimin, sometimes emotions and attraction can blur our judgment. It's okay to feel confused. Maybe there's more to this than you realize. Have you talked to Jungkook about it?"

Jimin shook his head, even though Taehyung couldn't see it. "No, I left before he woke up. I needed some space to think. I just... I've never been in this situation before. I need to figure out what it means and what I want. I hate him, Tae... why did I do that?"

Taehyung couldn't contain his surprise. "You left before he woke up...?"

"Yeah, I couldn't stay there. It felt... too weird. I don't even know what I expect from this situation."

Taehyung sighed on the other end. "Jimin, take your time to figure things out. If you need someone to talk to or just be there for you, I'm here. And don't beat yourself up too much over it."

Jimin appreciated Taehyung's support, but the weight of the situation lingered. "Thanks, Tae. I'll talk to you later. I just need some time alone."

"Of course, Minnie. Take all the time you need. But remember, I'm here whenever you're ready to talk. Love you."

Jimin whispered a soft "love you too" before ending the call.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Jungkook woke up, stretching softly as he let his eyes flutter open, frowning a little when he realized Jimin wasn't next to him, thinking he's probably in the bathroom or something.

He rubbed his eyes, picking up his phone to check the time and go over some messages he missed overnight.

When he was done, he put it back down, sitting up in his bed. He then noticed Jimin's clothes weren't on the floor and felt a bitter feeling in his chest.

Oh, so Jimin left.

Jungkook sighed, running a hand through his hair as he sat there in the quiet bedroom, unable to shake the tinge of disappointment mixed with confusion.

He dragged himself to his closet, getting dressed and heading to the bathroom, brushing his teeth and walking over to his kitchen to get a bowl of cereal, suddenly feeling less energized than he did like ten minutes ago.

He hoped he could wake up to Jimin in his arms, giving him a change of clothes, brush their teeth together and maybe shower before he would make them both breakfast and finally tell Jimin about his feelings.

Maybe Jimin really did hate him. Jungkook always hoped Jimin said it just for the sake of comebacks in their usual banter. He always tried to convey his feelings for Jimin the way he knew how, trying any excuse to get his attention.

The taste of cereal turned bland in his mouth at those thoughts.

Jungkook opened his phone, scrolling down to Jimin's contact he had saved. They've had each other's numbers for around two years, they just never called or texted each other.

He opened KakaoTalk, clicking on Jimin's name to open their empty chatbox. Should he text Jimin? What would he even say? Maybe Jimin left for an unrelated reason? He needed to text him.

Jungkook: "hey. are you okay? you left so did you get home safe?"

Jimin's phone buzzed with a message from Jungkook, and he hesitated before opening it.

He sighed, grappling with his own emotions before deciding to respond, typing slowly: "I'm fine. Got home okay."

Jungkook's phone buzzed with Jimin's response, and he stared at the message for a moment.

He took a deep breath before replying: "good to know you're home safe. why did you leave? did something happen? you should've woken me up, i would've driven you home."

Jimin's phone buzzed again with Jungkook's message. He hesitated before typing a response: "Nothing happened."

Jungkook sighed as he read Jimin's response. The tension in the conversation was obvious, and he couldn't help but feel a mix of frustration and longing, missing the warmth he felt with Jimin yesterday. With that in mind, he decided to express his feelings more openly: "are we going to talk about what happened? i want you to be okay."

Jimin stared at Jungkook's message for a moment, his thoughts swirling with conflicting emotions as he began typing a response: "I'm okay. Just... pretend whatever happened didn't happen. Let's just forget about it."

Jungkook's heart sank as he read Jimin's words, and he took a moment to write his reply: "Jimin, I can't just pretend like nothing happened. We need to talk about it. I care about you, and I want to make sure you're okay."

Jimin: "We don't need to talk about it, Jungkook. It was a mistake. Let's move on."

Jungkook stared at Jimin's message for a while before throwing his phone aside in disappointment. Jimin regretted last night, and clearly didn't return his feelings.

He ruffled his already messy hair. "I'm such a fucking idiot, seriously. Couldn't I just talk to him like a normal fucking person?!" He muttered to himself.

He didn't understand why Jimin was the first to kiss him at the party last night. Didn't understand why Jimin accepted his invitation to come over to spend the night. It really gave him hope that Jimin liked him back, but maybe it had always been his wishful thinking.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Jimin curled up in his bed, staring at his phone that was lying on the nightstand in silence. He wanted to cry, hating the heaviness in his chest, the weird mixture of contradicting emotions like regret and longing.

He turned over, burying his head in his pillow, wanting to just sleep the day off and pretend it never happened.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

The next day, he had a train to Busan, going home to spend New Year's with his family.

Taehyung drove him to Seoul Station and sat down with him at McDonalds while Jimin waited for his train.

They both got Oreo McFlurries and large fries to share.

Taehyung gently placed his hand on Jimin's, giving it a small squeeze. "You want to talk about it? Just a little?"

Jimin looked down at their intertwined hands, a mix of gratitude and sadness in his eyes. He sighed, then nodded slightly. "It's just... that night was a mess, Tae. I don't even know what I was thinking. I've never done something like that, and I regret it. I feel so stupid."

Taehyung met Jimin's gaze, his tone soft. "Why do you regret it? Was it bad? Did he not take proper care of you?"

Jimin shook his head. "No... it was good. He was..."

Taehyung gently pressed on. "Was...?"

Jimin hesitated, searching for the right words. "He was caring. Surprisingly gentle. But that's not the point. It's just... I don't want to complicate things, Tae. I've never been into casual stuff, and now I find myself in this mess. It's confusing."

Taehyung nodded understandingly. "How do you know he wanted a casual thing with you though? I told you before it really seemed like he's into you."

Jimin sighed, swirling the McFlurry with his spoon absentmindedly. "I don't know, Tae. It's just... I've spent so long building walls around myself, especially when it comes to relationships. And now I feel like I let them crumble for a moment, and I don't know how to deal with it. Maybe he's into me, but the whole situation feels so out of control. I hate feeling vulnerable like this."

Taehyung nodded empathetically. "Vulnerability is scary, Minnie. But sometimes, letting those walls down, even if just for a moment, can lead to something amazing. Maybe you're just overthinking it. If you feel something for him, why not explore it instead of shutting it down completely?"

Jimin looked at Taehyung, a mix of appreciation and uncertainty in his eyes. "I appreciate your perspective, Tae, and I know you mean well, but it's not just about Jungkook. It's about me and what I want. I need to figure that out first."

Taehyung squeezed Jimin's hand gently. "I get it. Take your time, Minnie. Whatever you decide, I'm here for you."

After a quiet beat, Taehyung spoke up again. "Did he reach out to you since that night two days ago?" He asked.

Jimin nodded. "Yeah, he messaged me that morning..."

Taehyung's eyes widened. "What did he say?"

Jimin hesitated before answering. "He asked if I was okay and suggested we talk about what happened. I told him to pretend it didn't happen, to forget about it."

Taehyung furrowed his brows, his lips parting in surprise. "Minnie..."

Jimin sighed, the weight of his emotions evident. "I just... I don't want things to get more complicated, Tae. I'm already struggling with this internal mess, and I feel like talking about it might just make it worse. I need to sort out my own feelings before I can face whatever this is with Jungkook."

Taehyung nodded in understanding. "That makes sense, Minnie. Just remember, I'm here for you, and whatever decision you make, I'll support you."

As Jimin's train departure was announced, Taehyung hugged him tightly. "Take care of yourself, okay? And don't hesitate to call or message if you need anything."

Jimin smiled weakly, appreciating Taehyung's support. "Thanks, Tae. I'll try to figure things out."

As Jimin boarded the train to Busan, he put in earbuds, wanting to listen to music in hopes it distracts him from everything else.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

The two and a half hour ride went smoothly, and Jimin's parents and younger brother Jihyun, were waiting for him at Busan station.

Jimin smiled as he saw his family waiting for him. He hugged his parents tightly and ruffled Jihyun's hair, feeling a sense of comfort being back home.

His mother, a gentle smile on her face, spoke warmly, "Jimin, my dear, it's so good to have you home for New Year's. How was the train ride?"

Jimin replied, "It was good, Mom. A bit tiring, but I'm happy to be here."

His father added, "We've missed you, son. How's everything in Seoul?"

Jimin hesitated, deciding not to burden his family with the complexities of his recent experiences. "Everything's fine, Dad. Just a bit busy with work, you know how it is."

Jihyun chimed in, "Did you bring any gifts for us, hyung?"

Jimin chuckled, ruffling his brother's hair again. "Of course, Jihyun. I've got something for each of you at home."

As they left the station and headed home, Jimin tried to push aside the lingering thoughts of Seoul and focus on the warmth and familiarity of being with his family in Busan for the New Year's celebrations.

"I'm still shocked every time I see you now, hyung. You look like such a Seoulite these days," Jihyun teased playfully as their dad started the car.

Jimin laughed at his brother's playful comment. "Well, living in Seoul does that to you, Jihyunnie. But at heart, I'm still the same Busan guy you used to know."

Jihyun grinned. "I guess so, hyung. So, any exciting plans for New Year's?"

Jimin shook his head. "Not really, just looking forward to spending quality time with all of you. Maybe we can watch the sunrise on New Year's Day like we used to."

His mother smiled, "That sounds like a wonderful idea. We can make it a family tradition again."

As they chatted and made their way home, Jimin tried to immerse himself in the warmth of his family's company, grateful for the familiar surroundings of Busan and the love of his parents and younger brother.

"Oh, by the way, the lady managing the cafe you used to go to often when you were in high school asked about you recently," his mom told him.

Jimin raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Oh, really? Mrs. Jeon? How's she doing?"

His mom nodded. "Yes, that's her. She's doing well. She mentioned that you haven't visited in a while, and she was curious about how you've been. Seems like you left quite an impression on her."

Jimin smiled fondly at the mention of the cafe. "I should definitely drop by and say hello. It's been a long time, and I have some good memories from there."

As they continued their journey home, Jimin couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the familiar places of his hometown. Despite the recent complexities in his life, being with his family and the thought of revisiting the places from his past brought a comforting sense of grounding.

"She mentioned her son coming over for New Year's too. Have you ever met him? I think he also lives in Seoul, and he's around your age," She asked.

Jimin raised an eyebrow, a bit intrigued. "No, I don't think I've met him. I do remember her mentioning her rebellious son back in the day. She liked to tell me about crazy situations he got himself into. He was Jihyun's age, I think."

His mom chuckled. "Yes, that's the one. Apparently, he's way more well behaved than he used to be. It might be interesting to meet him."

Jimin smiled, finding the idea intriguing. "Sure, I wouldn't mind meeting him. Would be interesting to meet the person I've heard so much about as a kid but never got to meet."

Jihyun nudged him. "Hey, maybe you could get yourself a boyfriend along the way too," he teased playfully.

Jimin chuckled at his brother's teasing. "Who knows, maybe. But I'm not making any promises. Besides, I'm here to spend time with family and enjoy the New Year's vibe."

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Over the next few days, Jimin focused on celebrating with his family. Playing card games, eating a bunch, going out together, taking his mind off everything to just enjoy the holiday season.

On the 31st in the afternoon, he decided to visit Mrs. Jeon's cafe. It was near Gwangalli beach, and there was going to be a special New Year's drone show there at midnight, so it was a good way to kill off time until then.

As soon as he walked through the door, he was pulled into a tight hug by her.

"Jimin! My gosh, you grew up so well. You're so handsome, dear!"

Jimin laughed, returning Mrs. Jeon's warm embrace. "Thank you, Mrs. Jeon. It's good to see you again. You haven't changed a bit."

Mrs. Jeon held him at arm's length, examining him with a smile. "Oh, stop it. Look at you, all successful and grown up. Sit, sit! I'll get you your favorite, a caramel latte, right?"

Jimin nodded, touched by her thoughtfulness. "Yes, please. Thank you."

As he settled into his familiar spot in the cozy cafe, he couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia as Mrs. Jeon went to the back to make his drink.

He heard another voice from the back. "Aish, Eomma, let me make this drink. I'm here to help, remember? You deserve some rest."

Mrs. Jeon chuckled. "Come on, Kook-ah, I'm not old, don't treat me like an ahjumma."

Jimin heard her son playfully teasing her. "Hey, I didn't call you that. Just let me, it's fine."

Mrs. Jeon relented. "Okay, okay. Don't take money from my guest even if he insists, I've known him for years, since you were a kid. I'll be right out to join you."

Jimin's was curious as he heard the interaction between Mrs. Jeon and her son. The nickname "Kook-ah" stirred familiar memories, and he wondered if this was the same person he had heard stories about during his high school days.

A moment later, a man emerged from the back, holding a tray with a caramel latte. When their eyes met, Jimin's heart skipped a beat.

"Jimin?" Jungkook suddenly felt nervous, nibbling on his lip ring as he placed the coffee on Jimin's table.

Jimin's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Jungkook. "Jungkook?" he stammered, caught off guard.

How was he so stupid? Jeon Jungkook. His last name was Jeon. He should've expected it, but he didn't know Jungkook was from Busan too.

It's been nearly a week since they slept together.

A mixture of emotions flickered across Jungkook's face. Disappointment, nervousness, and maybe a bit of angerㅡmaybe more like bitterness after the last text Jimin sent him the morning after Seokjin's party.

Mrs. Jeon walked up to them. "Jimin, this is my son, Jungkook. The one I used to tell you all about when you were young. Kook-ah, why aren't you sitting? Let's all sit down together."

Jimin forced a smile, trying to hide the awkwardness he felt in that moment. "We actually... know each other already..."

Mrs. Jeon looked between them, a curious glint in her eyes. "Oh, you two know each other? How wonderful! Well, then, you can catch up together." She gestured for them to take a seat.

Jimin and Jungkook exchanged uneasy glances before complying with Mrs. Jeon's suggestion. They sat across from each other, the air heavy with unspoken tension.

Mrs. Jeon sat down with them. "Where do you know each other from?"

Jungkook chuckled, but his tone was cold. "Work. Jimin-ssi is a lawyer too, mom. We meet in court often."

Mrs. Jeon looked delighted. "Ah, that's great! Do you go up against each other on trials?"

Jungkook remained stoic, nodding. "Yeah. We've always had this rivalry going on."

Jimin forced a smile, his discomfort evident. "That's right..."

Mrs. Jeon seemed unfazed, still wearing a warm smile. "Well, it's a small world, isn't it? You probably have a lot of interesting stories from your trials!"

Jimin and Jungkook exchanged a glance, the unspoken acknowledgment of the recent events adding to the awkwardness of the situation. Jimin decided to steer the conversation away from their personal dynamics.

"Yeah, trials can be intense," Jimin replied, attempting to sound casual. "But it's all part of the job."

Mrs. Jeon seemed to sense the tension then and changed the subject. "Speaking of jobs, Jungkook-ah has been a great help at the cafe. He decided to spend some time in Busan during the holidays."

Jimin nodded, trying to maintain composure. "That's nice. It's good to spend time with family."

Jungkook's gaze lingered on Jimin, his expression unreadable. Mrs. Jeon only continued chatting about Busan's changes over the years.

Jimin couldn't shake the surreal feeling of sitting across from Jungkook in Mrs. Jeon's cafe, a place that held so many memories of his high school days. It was the last thing he wanted or expected.

Mrs. Jeon pulled them both out of their thoughts. "Jimin-ah, your mom invited us to hang out with you all tonight at the beach for the drone show! It's going to be lovely, there's going to be fireworks too!"

Jimin managed a smile, appreciating Mrs. Jeon's genuine enthusiasm. "I'd love to spend New Year's Eve with you. It'll be fun having our families together."

Jungkook nodded in agreement, keeping his expression neutral. "Yeah, sounds like a great plan."

Mrs. Jeon beamed at them. "Perfect! Now, let me get back to the counter. Enjoy your coffee, and I'll see you later!"

As Mrs. Jeon bustled away, leaving Jimin and Jungkook in an awkward silence, Jimin took a sip of his caramel latte, the familiar taste providing a momentary distraction.

Jungkook cleared his throat, breaking the silence way too quickly for Jimin's taste. "You know, it was pretty fucking shitty of you, Jimin."

Jimin avoided looking at Jungkook but then couldn't help himself and snuck a glance. "What are you talking about?"

Jungkook's eyes narrowed slightly. "Don't act like you don't know. You told me to forget about it, pretend it didn't happen. Like it was some mistake. I get it if you regret it, but you didn't have to make me feel like shit."

Jimin sighed, his gaze dropping back down to the table. "I didn't know what else to say, Jungkook. It was a mess. I'm not good with this stuff. I've never done something like that."

Jungkook's expression softened a fraction, but the bitterness lingered. "Well, it happened, and I can't just pretend it didn't. And you can't either. Did you really not enjoy it that much that you left in the fucking morning before I woke up without saying a word?"

Jimin met Jungkook's gaze properly then, a mixture of frustration and vulnerability in his eyes. "It's not about enjoyment, Jungkook. I don't do one-night stands. It's not who I am. It was a mistake, and I didn't know how to handle it. I panicked."

Jungkook's jaw tensed, his frustration evident. "You regret it that much? Regret being with me?"

Jimin's eyes flashed with a complex mix of emotions but he couldn't bring himself to speak.

Jungkook leaned back in his chair, his dark gaze intense. "So, what now? We just pretend like it never happened?"

Jimin hesitated, the weight of the situation settling on his shoulders. "I don't know, Jungkook. We can't change what happened, but we need to figure out how to navigate this, especially since we'll still see each other at trials."

Jungkook's expression hardened, disappointment flickering in his eyes. "Yeah, work. That's where it started, and I guess that's where it'll end." He got up and silently walked back to the cafe kitchen.

Jimin took a deep breath. This was just too much to handle for him at this point honestly.

Mrs. Jeon then returned, placing a plate of pastries on the table. "Here you go, Jimin-ah. I added some extra treats for you. Enjoy!"

Jimin managed a grateful smile, appreciating Mrs. Jeon's kindness. "Thank you, Mrs. Jeon. Everything looks delicious."

Mrs. Jeon beamed at him. "You're always welcome here, Jimin-ah. If there's anything you need, just let me know."

While Jimin nibbled on a pastry, his thoughts drifted to the impending New Year's Eve celebration at the beach. The prospect of spending the evening with both his and Jungkook's family making him anxious. He couldn't seem to get rid of him no matter where he went...

Jimin lingered in the cafe anyway, savoring the familiarity of the place, the smell of coffee, the cozy ambiance, and the quiet hum of conversations around him. It helped ease his mind a bit, hoping tonight wouldn't be as bad as he was expecting it to be with Jungkook being around.

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

As the day turned into evening, the sky turning a lovely bright pink, Jimin prepared himself for the New Year's Eve celebration. It was just time with his family. So what if Jungkook would be there? He didn't have to talk to him or anything...

He stepped outside the cafe, the brisk winter air brushing his cheeks, and made his way down to the beach where his parents were probably already waiting. The sound of waves and distant laughter created a cheerful atmosphere, but Jimin felt anything but.

He spotted Jungkook talking to Mrs. Jeon. Their eyes met briefly, a silent acknowledgment of the unresolved tension between them, and Jimin only braced himself for the evening ahead.

Jimin and Jungkook's parents started chatting excitedly about a billion random things.

Jihyun talked to Jungkook's older brother, Junghyun about some interest they both had in common.

Jimin had his eyes fixed on the colorful drones in the sky, the timer to midnight getting shorter and shorter as the drones moved around to change the numbers.

Jungkook's voice was a low murmur next to him. "You know, I really hoped you didn't actually hate me, but I guess I know the answer to that now. I thought that if I tried hard enough, you'd eventually see I was trying to get to know you, get close to you, whatever. You made me really hopeful at times. Thought maybe I wasn't the only one seeing something there, but maybe it was my mistake."

Jimin's eyes stayed fixed on the mesmerizing display of drones in the sky, the shifting colors reflecting in his eyes. The countdown to midnight continued, each passing second a reminder of the impending turn of the year. He froze at Jungkook's words, unsure of what they meant but too scared to ask. "What... are you talking about?" He eventually whispered.

Jungkook's gaze was intense, searching Jimin's eyes for something and it made Jimin shiver. "I'm talking about us, Jimin. Whatever this is or was. Wasn't I obvious enough? I thought... I thought we could have something, but maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part. I've tried flirting with you and reaching out to you, but yeah, maybe I was only really deluding myself when I saw you blush or get flustered when it didn't mean anything. When you kissed me at the party, I was so happy, I thought that after we spend the night, I'd wake up with you and eat breakfast together and then I'd talk to you about my fucking feelings and explain everything. But maybe I really was just fucking stupid to believe that."

The weight of Jungkook's words hung in the air, mingling with the anticipation of the approaching new year. The vibrant display of drones continued to weave intricate patterns in the night sky, a stark contrast to the emotions playing out between them.

Jimin felt a knot tighten in his chest, a mixture of guilt, confusion, and the weight of Jungkook's words as he took them in and tried to process them. "Y-You wanted to what?"

Jungkook's eyes held a raw intensity as he searched Jimin's face for a response. "I wanted us to have something real, Jimin. More than just casual stuff. I've liked you for a long time, and I thought maybe there was a chance. But now, after everything, I guess I was wrong. I was really fucking in love with you for what it's worth. Whatever, just forget about it."

Jimin's heart pounded in his chest, a mixture of shock and realization flooding his senses.

Jungkook really did like him, just like Taehyung told him, and he left Jungkook's apartment like an asshole instead of sitting down, talking to him, and explaining why he was feeling so conflicted in the first place. He knew he lied to himself when he told himself so often that he hated Jungkook, he was only ever trying to pretend Jungkook wasn't getting under his skin, that he wasn't attracted to him.

Jimin couldn't help the tears that filled his eyes, falling uncontrollably down his cheeks as he bit down on his lip to not completely break down in front of Jungkook. He's just been so scared of what he's been feeling all this time for such a long time.

Jungkook's gaze softened. Despite everything, he couldn't see him like that, so he pulled Jimin into a gentle hug. "Don't cry. I shouldn't have dropped this on you right now, I'm sorry."

As the countdown reached its final moments, Jimin whispered, his voice choked with emotion against Jungkook's chest, "I didn't mean to hurt you, Jungkook. I never thought... I didn't understand."

Jungkook held him tighter, his own emotions a complex mix of longing and acceptance. "We can talk about it later, Jimin. Let's just welcome the new year together, okay?"

Jimin shook his head, a sob slipping out of his lips but muffled by Jungkook's chest. "No, it's not okay. I-I'm so sorry. I was stupid, I fucked up and really ruined everything."

Jungkook gently pulled away, cupping Jimin's face in his hands. "It's fine, I'll move on. It was my mistake to think you liked me in the first place, I had no right."

Jimin met Jungkook's gaze, fully sobbing now that he couldn't hold it anymore. "But I do like you, Jungkook," his whisper was barely audible over people's excited cheers, but Jungkook heard it perfectly, his eyes widening.

"You... you do?" Jungkook's voice wavered, a mixture of disbelief and hope threading through his words.

Jimin nodded, tears still streaming down his cheeks. "I do, Jungkook. I just... I didn't know how to handle it. I've never been in this situation before and I panicked."

Jungkook's thumbs gently brushed away the tears from Jimin's face, his touch tender and reassuring. "Jimin, you don't have to apologize..."

"10, 9, 8, 7..." Everyone started counting as the drone timer was at its last seconds to midnight. "6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Happy New Year!"

As the clock struck midnight, cheers erupted around them, punctuating the arrival of the new year, the sky was filled with bursts of fireworks, illuminating the night sky in a kaleidoscope of colors.

As the cheers continued, Jungkook leaned in, capturing Jimin's lips in a tender kiss. The world around them faded, and in that moment, their only focus was each other.

"Happy new year, love," Jungkook whispered against Jimin's lips, his voice lighter than it's been all day, the usual playfulness of it returning.

"Happy new year," Jimin replied with a soft smile, the weight of the past hours gradually lifting.

"Did we miss anything?" Jimin's mom and Mrs. Jeon giggled, playfully asking their sons as they watched them with raised eyebrows.

"Jimin, you didn't tell me you already knew Mrs. Jeon's son!" His mom added.

Jimin blushed, averting his gaze to look at Jungkook. "Yeah... we know each other. It's a long story, I'll tell you later, maybe..."

Jungkook chuckled, playing along with their moms. "Yeah, long story. We go way back."

Jimin's mom exchanged a knowing look with Mrs. Jeon, both of them smiling as if sharing a secret. "Well, we're all here to celebrate the new year together and that's what matters."

Jimin and Jungkook then turned to properly look at the fireworks. Jungkook wrapped his arm around Jimin's waist as they did, an excited blush dusting his cheeks. He knew they still had to talk things through, but for now, he at least knew his feelings were reciprocated.

Jimin was blushing himself, his heart beating out of his chest at the proximity, which was pretty funny considering he already slept with Jungkook once.

As the fireworks finally ended, Jimin's dad called them over. "Come on, boys, we're all going to a new year's party at a friends' restaurant."

They walked over to where their parents' cars were parked, but Jungkook took Jimin's hand, pulling him back gently. "Actually, we're gonna walk to the restaurant. Just text us the address and we'll be there. Start without us, we'll join you."

Jimin nodded, a silent understanding passing between them. "Yeah, we'll be there after you guys, don't worry."

As their families drove off to the restaurant, Jimin's dad sent them the address and they started walking.

Jungkook squeezed Jimin's hand. "Let's talk about that night? And the morning after?"

Jimin took a deep breath, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, we need to talk about it, Jungkook. I owe you an explanation."

Jungkook looked at him expectantly. "You kissed me at Seokjin's party. Why?"

Jimin met Jungkook's gaze, the weight of the question hanging in the air. "It was a mix of reasons. Your words to me at that moment, the dancing, the mood, it just happened... I kissed you because... despite everything, I've been trying to deny my feelings for you. I thought you were just flirty to everyone, I thought you were only doing it to belittle me. So I tried to convince myself that I hated you, that it didn't affect me."

Jungkook listened attentively, his expression a mix of surprise and contemplation. The revelation seemed to reshape his understanding of the situation.

Jimin continued, "and then... when we went back to your place, I just let it happen, and it surprised me too because I don't do one night stands, and I don't want casual stuff, but I didn't know if you had real feelings for me, so I panicked and left. I got scared, and I handled it in a shitty way instead of talking to you about it..."

Jungkook nodded, processing Jimin's words. "I get it. I should've made my intentions clearer. I wanted more with you, Jimin. I thought maybe you felt something too, especially after that night. But I messed up by not talking to you properly beforehand."

Jimin sighed, "We both messed up. I should've talked to you instead of avoiding it. I do have feelings for you, Jungkook. I just didn't know how to deal with them."

Jungkook squeezed Jimin's hand reassuringly, "It's okay. We can figure it out, right? Let's take it slow, talk about what we both want, and see where it goes."

Jimin smiled softly, feeling a mix of relief and hope. "Yeah, let's take it slow. And I'm sorry for hurting you. I never meant to."

Jungkook gave him a sincere look, "me too. I never wanted you to feel belittled or hurt by my stupid attempts at flirting."

As they walked towards the restaurant, the between them lifting completely, the new year holding the promise of fresh beginnings.

"So... um... you- you said you're in love with me..." Jimin mumbled, feeling shy all of a sudden.

Jungkook smiled, a softness in his eyes. "Yeah, I did say that."

Jimin blushed, looking down for a moment. "Well... I like you too so if you still want to we can... be together?"

Jungkook's smile widened, a genuine happiness lighting up his face. "I'd really like that, Jimin. Let's give it a shot and see where it leads us."

They reached the restaurant, only needing to turn the corner to be at the entrance.

"Wait," Jimin breathed out. "Before we go in..."

Jungkook turned to face Jimin, his gaze filled with anticipation. "Yeah?"

Jimin hesitated for a moment before stepping closer and getting on his tiptoes, his hand gently cupping Jungkook's cheek. With a tender smile, he leaned in and pressed a soft, lingering kiss on Jungkook's lips.

Jungkook smiled against Jimin's lips, pulling him even closer and letting out a soft exhale through his nose as he gently deepened it.

They slowly pulled away, looking into each other's eyes before Jungkook hugged Jimin tightly. "Can I call you my boyfriend, love?"

Jimin's heart swelled with warmth, and he couldn't help but smile at the endearing request. "Yes, Jungkook, you can call me your boyfriend. I'd really like that."

"There you guys are!" Mrs. Jeon beamed at them as they walked in hand in hand. "Sit down quickly, there's still a bunch of galbi and samgyeopsal!"

As they sat side by side, Jimin couldn't help but steal glances at Jungkook, a newfound tenderness in his gaze. Everything had brought them to this moment.

Mrs. Jeon grinned at them. "You two enjoy the food. It's a new year, and we have so much to celebrate!"

Throughout the meal, Jimin and Jungkook accidentally ignored everyone, too busy talking and laughing about a bunch of things. They had more in common than they thought.

Jungkook spoke in a quieter tone, a big smile on his face as he told Jimin a story from his childhood while Jimin was giggling, leaning into Jungkook in his fit of giggles. "...and me and this friend were chased by this ahjussi down the road so we ran into the fish market, but my friend tripped and fell on one of the tanks. It completely broke and the fish started flapping around and hitting him in the face. I couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard!"

Mrs. Jeon, watching them with a knowing smile, approached them as they all headed out of the restaurant once they finished their meal. "I'm so glad to see you two happy like this. A new year, a new beginning."

Jimin and Jungkook exchanged a glance, their smiles mirroring the shared sentiment.

Everything eventually winded down, and both of their families were walking to their respective cars.

"Are you going back to Seoul tomorrow?" Jimin asked.

Jungkook nodded. "Yeah, why?"

Jimin smiled. "When's your train leaving?"

Jungkook tried to recall before answering. "Uhhh, 10:37, I think."

Jimin beamed at that. "We're on the same train. Let's hope the seat next to one of us stays free so we can sit together."

Jungkook grinned in response. "Sounds like a plan, baby."

Jimin blushed with an exasperated groan. "I'm gonna have to get used to all those endearments from you, aren't I?"

Jungkook chuckled, humming with a smirk. "Well, you did say you like me, so get ready for it, love."

As they reached the cars, Jimin turned to Jungkook, a playful glint in his eyes. "You better not sleep in and miss the train tomorrow."

Jungkook grinned. "Don't worry, love. I'll set, like, five alarms if I have to. Can't miss that train ride with you." He leaned down to kiss Jimin before they'd have to part for the night, taking his breath away.

"You guys are gross! We're all right here, you know!" Jihyun playfully tore them out of their bubble, with their parents and Junghyun laughing in response.

Jimin and Jungkook chuckled, the playful teasing from Jihyun adding a lighthearted touch to the moment. And as they said their goodbyes, their families exchanged farewells as well.

Jungkook squeezed Jimin's hand. "I'll see you tomorrow, love," his voice sweet and filled with promise.

Jimin smiled, his gaze filled with affection. "You too, Jungkook. Until tomorrow."

Jimin got into the car with his family, unable to hold himself back from stealing one last glance at Jungkook.

As they drove home, Jimin's mom spoke up. "So, are you finally gonna tell us what was going on between you and Jungkook? His mom told me you two were both work rivals or something?" She asked, chuckling in amusement.

Jihyun joined in. "Come on, throw us a bone, hyung."

Jimin chuckled, feeling a mix of embarrassment and amusement at his family's curiosity. "Well, it's a bit more complicated than just work rivalry. We did meet through work and went against each other in court often. But things got a bit... messy after this Christmas party we both went to without knowing the other would be there..."

Jimin's family leaned in, their curiosity piqued by the hint of intrigue in his words. His mom raised an eyebrow, her tone teasing. "Oh, do tell. What happened at this party?"

Jimin sighed, deciding to share a simplified version of the story, definitely not sharing the details. "Long story short, there was a party and things happened. Then things got awkward and I left without really talking about it."

His mom and Jihyun exchanged amused glances, clearly finding the situation entertaining. Jihyun couldn't resist a teasing remark, "So, you kissed and made up at the New Year's Eve countdown, huh? You can't make this up, it's like a plot from a drama."

Jimin blushed, nodding. "Yeah, we made up. We're um boyfriends now..."

Both Jihyun and his mom laughed. "Yeah, pretty sure we realized that when you two were disgustingly cute at the restaurant or when you nearly made out in front of us in the parking lot, hyung."

Jimin joined in the laughter, his cheeks flushing with a mix of embarrassment and amusement.

His mom grinned. "Well, I'm glad you two worked things out. Take good care of each other when you go back to Seoul."

Jimin smiled, appreciating his family's support and good-natured teasing. "I will, Mom. Thanks."

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

In the morning, Jimin's parents drove him to Busan station. After bidding him goodbye and promising to text his mom once he's home safe, he walked inside, sitting down with a cup of coffee, waiting for his platform to appear on the departure board.

He opened his phone, about to open KakaoTalk to text Jungkook and ask if he was already at the station.

"Sorry, all the other seats are taken. Mind if I sit here?" Jungkook sat down before waiting for the answer, pecking Jimin's cheek.

Jimin chuckled at Jungkook's playful intrusion, "Well, I suppose you can sit here, but I might charge a fee for the prime seating."

Jungkook grinned, "I'll pay in kisses," and planted another quick kiss on Jimin's cheek.

When the platform for their train was announced, they gathered their bags and made their way to board.

They ended up sitting together the entire train ride, talking nonstop, until Jimin fell asleep, leaning peacefully on Jungkook's shoulder who looked out at the passing scenery as they neared Seoul, his fingers gently running through Jimin's hair.

When they finally arrived in Seoul, Jungkook gently woke him, and they disembarked together, walking through the bustling station and heading toward the exit.

They took a taxi, and Jungkook insisted on dropping Jimin off first, even carrying his little suitcase for him.

Jimin just rolled his eyes, but his cheeks tinged with a rosy blush, which he insisted was from the cold when Jungkook teased him about it.

They entered Jimin's apartment and took off their shoes at the entrance. "Where do you want me to put your suitcase, love?"

Jimin gestured toward the living room. "You can just leave it here for now. Thanks for carrying it, though."

Jungkook grinned, setting the suitcase down. "No problem. So, what's your plan for the rest of the day? Mind if I crash it and spend some time with you?"

Jimin smiled, appreciating Jungkook's easygoing presence. "I don't have any specific plans, and I wouldn't mind the company. We can just relax, maybe order some food. How does that sound?"

Jungkook nodded, enthusiasm lighting up his eyes. "Sounds perfect. Just chilling and enjoying each other's company."

"I still haven't taken down all my Christmas decorations. Didn't really get to since I was so caught up with my messy feelings after Seokjin's party. And then I obviously went to Busan." Jimin gestured to the tree and all the different decor still hung around his large apartment.

Jungkook glanced around, taking in the festive decorations that adorned Jimin's apartment. "It looks beautiful, though. Christmas decorations have a way of making a place feel warm and cozy. How about we watch a Christmas movie together actually? I didn't really make the most out of my Christmas either since I was sulking because I thought you hated me."

Jimin chuckled, finding Jungkook's honesty endearing. "Let's definitely watch a Christmas movie. How does Home Alone 1 and 2 sound?"

Jungkook grinned. "Great! I'll order some food. What do you feel like eating?"

Jimin thought for a moment. "How about some comfort food? Maybe fried chicken and I also have some instant bibimmyeon we can make here."

Jungkook nodded, clearly loving the idea. "Perfect. I'll order the chicken, and we can make the bibimmyeon. You don't know but I'm actually addicted to it, it's my favorite instant ramyeon."

❄️ ❄️ ❄️

After finishing their food, they cuddled up on the couch, watching Kevin prepare his traps for the bandits.

Eventually, the scene were they get caught by police came up, but Jungkook wasn't really focusing on the movie anymore, too busy looking at Jimin's cute expressions.

Jimin caught his gaze, cheeks tinting pink. "Have you been watching me instead of the movie this whole time?"

Jungkook shrugged with a playful smile, caught in the act. "Not the whole movie, just... a lot of it."

Jimin giggled, leaning into Jungkook's side. "You're a dork."

Jungkook chuckled, wrapping his arm around Jimin. "Guilty as charged. But what can I do? I think I like my boyfriend a little too much."

Jimin gently swatted at Jungkook's chest. "And you're a massive flirt too!"

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Yeah? Sue me then. I'll represent myself and win as always."

Jimin laughed, shaking his head. "We'll see about that. Meet you in court," he whispered and brought his lips to Jungkook's.

Jungkook grinned as they pulled away, breathless with their lips still close. "I'll be ready for your case, Counselor Park."

Jimin smirked. "Bring it on, Attorney Jeon."
