This fic takes place after Ruby comes out, but reading the Ruby bits aren't necessary to understand this one. (It should mostly stand alone as an AU.) Hazel and Frank are already married, and Leo has been coming up from NYC a lot to help Frank with his tiktok channel because Frank is a tiny bit of a luddite when it comes to social media. Hazel and Frank live in or near Salem, Massachusetts (somewhere in Essex county, anyway). This is because I spend a lot of time on the north shore, and because Hecate's favor in this case just means Hazel is wicca-adjacent and there are a lot of witches up there.

FRANK is a large animal vet tech and a silver medalist for Canada's olympic archery team. He is tall, fat and muscular. He's incredibly strong and athletic, and is especially jacked in the upper body because of the whole archer-pecs-can-crack-a-walnut thing. He can also lift a ridiculous amount. This is why his stamina is so high. 😏
He dresses in alt/goth fashion. He has shoulder-length hair, multiple piercings and tattoos and knows how to do a smoky eye for a rock show. He also wears multiple rings, both for practicality (thumb rings for archery) and fashion (his engagement ring and wedding band; Hazel is the one who proposed 🩵).
His jeans all have rips because he also lives on a small working farm, but it goes with the rest of his look, so it doesn't bother him.
HAZEL is disabled by EDS, MCAS and POTS, but she used to be a jockey. Now she just rides for fun, when she's up to it. She is petite, and presently underweight because she's sick, but having Leo around to figure out foods she can actually absorb nutrients from will help significantly! She's still a little bit on the delicate side, but she's surprisingly strong too, especially in the lower body. (This is because she had to build muscle to make up for her floppy collagen.)
In her heart, she's an elegant/sweet loli or mori girl, though she doesn't always feel up to dressing up. She likes soft, feminine things in warm colors that feel good on her skin. When she and Frank got married, she wore a blush gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a pair of lacy fairy wings and flowers in her hair.
LEO is a youtuber. He is also underweight, because he lives alone and is miserably depressed. Being around people willing to nag him into eating and help him find a psychiatrist will also help him, and he also gets the "gains 30 lbs as a sign of recovery and improvement" treatment. (This is because it's Personal and gaining weight has only ever come with improved health for me; one of the fastest ways for me to tell I'm flaring or crashing is I drop a bunch of weight and suddenly can't move. 😭)
As mentioned, he's also depressed and often doesn't bother dressing up. When he feels more like himself, he leans towards a sort of steampunk dandy aesthetic. He and Hazel are almost exactly the same size, and she likes to put together unicorn core outfits from her fairy kei pieces for Frank to get all growly over.
The house is full of rescue animals, because they kind of have a reputation for providing excellent care for the peacocks, goats, potbellied pigs, multiple large reptiles, quail, and assorted dogs, cats and invertebrates they've collected over the years. Frank knows all of their names and everyone's favorite food and enrichment.
Thalia found out her mother was Jewish a couple years before the story takes place. Percy, Jason/Ruby, Annabeth, Nico and Will all live in another giant house on Long Island and are also teeming with rescues.
Hazel and Leo are publishing a webcomic together. Leo writes, Hazel draws. That will also come up again in the future!
