Chapter Text
For Paris superhero Ladybug, life was an amalgamation of many things.
Whether it be saving cats or Chat Noirs from trees. Or helping children cross the street.
Life was getting a bit too samey, especially with the part about saving Chat Noirs from trees.
But today may be the day life throws a curb ball at Ladybug, or more specifically, a beautiful blue egg.
There was a split second when Ladybug heard rustling in a tree and assumed it was another cat, only for her to notice something shiny and blue falling from the tree.
Ladybug didn’t always feel lucky, but she rushed over before she could have a panic attack. The Miraculous Guardian caught the blue objects with her hands without breaking anything. She chuckled and noted how that was a close call, but then she was in awe of what she caught.
Four beautiful blue robin’s eggs.
Ladybug nearly felt her soul leave her body, realizing everything was close to shattering. She also never imagined that, in her superhero career, she would be cradling beautiful blue robin’s eggs in her almost capable hands.
Ladybug sighed and looked back at the nest sitting on the tree branch, thankfully still unharmed.
“I need to get all of you back…Somehow.”
Multiple worst-case scenarios filled Ladybug’s head: tree branches snapping, trees catching on fire, and scrambled eggs!
Ladybug started to sweat and felt she could summon a ladder if hands-free, but she didn’t want to leave the eggs vulnerable. However, she turned around and noticed a familiar boy stopping his bike.
“Luka!” Ladybug gasped.
Luka innocently parked his bike, but even if Ladybug was far away, she looked as exasperated as she always was. Their eyes locked on each other like the law of attraction, and when Luka sees Ladybug being troubled, he cannot help but run to her.
Just great, Ladybug thought. She was supposed to be the hero, and yet Luka was the one who was always saving her.
But Luka always came to her with the brightest and most sincere smile in the world when he greeted her.
“Hey, Ladybug!”
Ladybug smiled sheepishly and tried to not draw attention to the eggs she caught. “Hey, Luka!”
And it certainly worked since Luka gave her such a handsome smile as if this was one of their many average chance encounters. Ladybug started to blush, and she almost forgot her mission.
“What are you up to, Ladybug?” Luka asked suavely.
“Oh, um…” Ladybug felt her tongue tie as she tried to hide the eggs without harming them, but it was fruitless. She couldn’t hide anything from Luka…
Except for her true identity, that would come when the time was right. Ladybug opened her hands, and Luka gasped.
Ladybug bit her lip. “I have to get them back in their nest where they belong, but…”
Luka understood quickly. Ladybug was an adorable hero with a big heart, but even she sometimes needed help. And whenever Luka was with her, Ladybug felt much more at ease. But when she felt the delicate eggs wiggle in her hands, Ladybug couldn’t help but yelp.
Ladybug breathed hard and kept her hands steady, but Luka held out his hands.
“It’s ok, Ladybug. I can hold them.”
Ladybug gulped, knowing she could trust Luka even if he didn’t have miraculous powers. She handed him the robin eggs as they started to wiggle again, but Luka kept them safe in his hands. He then began singing to the eggs softly.
Ladybug was taken aback as her heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t help but listen to Luka’s song for a little, but then she heard the wind rustle in the tree and looked back at the empty nest. Ladybug turned back at Luka, who smiled warmly as he continued to sing.
When I was younger I saw, my father cry, and curse at the wind.
He broke his own heart as I watched, as he tried to reassemble it…
And my mother swore she would never let herself forget…
And that was the day that I promised. I’d never sing of love, if it does not exist…
Ladybug felt her magic activate as she manifested a step ladder with her signature scarlet red with black dots.
“Alright, let’s get these eggs back, Luka!”
The two teenagers each took a side of the step ladder and climbed up slowly to safely place the eggs back in the nest. Ladybug placed her hand on her chest and sighed in relief. They climbed down the ladder and promptly rested by the tree trunk.
That was enough adventure for one day. But after a nice long rest, Ladybug and Luka were spooked by the sound of a mother bird.
They both got up and saw the mother bird return just as the eggs were hatching. The baby birds chirped loudly, experiencing life for the first time and meeting their mother.
Ladybug rejoiced multiple times, and Luka smiled warmly as Ladybug hugged her.
Days like this made being a superhero and an honorary hero all worth it.
Months later, Luka and Ladybug rested at the same tree. Ladybug laid her head on Luka’s shoulder as he played the guitar and sang his song again.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
You are the only exception.
And I’m on my way to believing…
Ladybug grinned and placed her hand over Luka’s heart, but before the two of them could have a romantic moment in private, the familiar sound of energetic birds chirping filled their ears. Luka and Ladybug looked up as the baby birds they had befriended before flew down to them and chirped multiple times. Two were on Luka’s guitar, one on Ladybug’s head, and the last perched perfectly in Ladybug’s palms.
The two teens couldn’t help but chuckle slightly, thinking their birdie friends enjoyed the music and their company.
