The carriage shook as it rode over the rough dirt road. Though the carriage was loud I could still hear the rumors passing throughout the kingdom,
"There goes the cursed princess."
"Can you believe they let her live any longer?"
Anger fled from my eyes as my mother asked,
"Are you ok hun?" she said in that sweet voice she used for me ever since I was a child,
"I’m fine!" I said with a smile. My parents aren’t good at telling the difference between a fake smile and a real one.

Chapter 1
____________
Once we got back to the castle I asked my mom to talk in private.
"Mom٫why do you think the villagers hate me?"
I said, feigning innocence,
“They don't!where did that idea come from!?" she said as worry and comfort flashed to her face.
"Why do they call me a cursed princess then? They say that i should have been killed the moment i opened my eyes.” I said pointing out the obvious.
"Oh hunny...If they don't like you just know that I do, your father does too no matter how much it seems like he doesn’t." my mom said, attempting to lighten my mood, it worked. As she walked out, I added,
”get dad for me please,” alerting her that I wanted to talk with him in private too.
“Dad, do you-“I hesitated at the pathetic words I was about to ask, “love me?”
“Of course I do hun!” he spoke with obviously fake comfort lacing his voice. I didn’t believe him, no one should. Not me or mom or the kingdom. Most say I should because he’s my dad but he never acts like he truly loves me or mom. At least I can trust mom, she’s never fake or rude to me, and when she is, it’s to point out a problem in secret. We’re lucky he doesn’t notice it, if he ever found out then, mom would probably be dead, and I’d be scared because he would’ve kept me alive just for the fun of it. I wish he’d just love us, but that’ll never happen, not in this life anyway.
“Alright…” I muttered softly, and he made his way out of my room. I laid down, and began to softly sob until my body was too tired to stay awake any longer.
