Chapter Text
oh my god this is so bad ill make it make sense at some point but i need to start somewhere.
Basic iterator biology:
Every iterator I write about is of the model, ExoEndo. There may be other models of iterators out there, but idk if ill explore that or not.
They are called "Exo-Endos" because they have both an exoskeleton, and an endoskeleton. Their exoskeleton gives them their basic shape and form, and is covered in a layer of skin. Joints are made of interlocking metal plates.
ExoEndos have some weird biological things happening.
The ancients liked the simplicity of the iterator's face, so instead of having nostrils on their faces, they are located on the back of their necks. They can open and close these at will.
ExoEndos cannot/don't exactly detach from their cans every once in a while to take a shower, so they just shed all their skin in one go once a month like a gecko.
yeah.
I decided that would be a thing and think its really weird. But it makes sense! They dont accumulate dead skin, and any dirt that builds up on them is just removed with every shed, Nice n clean. (frickin weirdos) And like a gecko, their skin does change colors, going through "blue". Snakes are blind when they do through it, but ExoEndos do not have eyecaps and can see perfectly fine. Shed skin is just discarded by yeeting it into a hidden trash chute hiding under a wall panel.
ExoEndos have dark blue blood, that stains more than your average red blood.
The exposed metal joints of an ExoEndo can heal like bones do if they are damaged.
uhhh... someueiewfqkf
Derma work on the generations thing next. ExoEndos dont have the organs to survive on their own without a can. no mouth, no liver or kidneys n stuff, ccause their cans run on blood, and they just share blood with the can. And the can has all the organs n stuff needed to live.
