His hands did not shake, for he could not allow them to. Even with a power so tremendous he struggled to control it, he was still, as always, Uryū Ishida. His Heilig Pfeill sailed through the chest of Senjumaru Shutara with ease. One shot dead center. Clean, efficient, simple.
He was not naive to the gravity of his actions—no, he had been more than aware of them the moment he joined the Wandenreich—but he had scarcely a moment to process before the Great Weaver's Bankai began to unravel at the seams. The red hue of fabric quickly shifted to the blinding blue of a cloudless sky, and realization struck Uryū just as fast.
He had just killed a Shinigami. Time seemed to slow as adrenaline flushed from his brain, leaving a vague static in its place. He could hear Ryūken's voice needle in the base of his skull: Was it everything you hoped for? Did you get it all out of your system?
He didn't know. He didn't know how to feel about any of this. Everything had gotten so, so out of hand, and perhaps he knew that the moment he knelt before Yhwach, blood at his lips. It was too late to turn back. Now, with a fatality to his name, he had nowhere to move but forward. There was no room in his heart for regret.
