Just the Two of Us

Summary:

It was their first official date by the usual standards. She had invited Sylus over to her place for an evening of many firsts...

Notes:

My MC is named Dazzling, Sylus calls her Daz.

Work Text:

It was 6:00PM exactly when the doorbell rang. She opened the front door and there his towering presence stood, leaning against the door jamb. His crimson eyes were covered by shades, accompanying that signature grin on his face. The two undone top buttons of his fitted gray shirt left a small peek at his muscled chest. So enraptured by the sight of him, Daz hadn't realized she'd been staring until Sylus clearing his throat shook her from her daydream.

"Like what you see, sweetie? Take your time and enjoy the view."

She narrowed her eyes and shushed him with an annoyed sound as she stepped aside so he could enter.

Chuckling low and deep, he walked past into her place finally. The scent of his cologne, a little musky and a little woody, made her heart flutter a little as she watched him come to a stop in front of the couch. Although Mephisto had been to her place plenty of times before in his stead, it was his first time seeing it with his own eyes. His dark shades clinked against the white marble coffee table as he sat them down.  He stood there in the middle of her living room, hands in his pockets, and took a quick scan of everything he could lay eyes on around her apartment. He noted the ambiance she was trying to set - the soft R&B music playing, the lit candles in strategic places to no doubt leave the place washed in a romantic glow once the sun had fully set, and the fresh flowers in a vase sat out on the table. A large glass door surrounded by gray sheers looking out over a peaceful looking balcony covered in fairy lights and plants seemed like the perfect little nook for an evening in. It was practically ethereal just like her. He turned to look at her finally, a somewhat approving smile on his face.

"A bit too bright for my tastes," he remarked in his final assessment of the overwhelmingly light pastel decor, "but it suits you."

Daz playfully rolled her eyes as she approached him.

"I'm so glad to have met your exacting standards. Now sit, food's almost done." She patted his arm as she started to pass but before she could get out of his reach, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back towards him. The sudden change in momentum caused her to collide with him and bounce a little off his broad torso. He kept a firm grip on her wrist as she steadied herself before hooking one finger beneath her chin and tilting her face upwards. The corners of his deep ruby eyes softened with his smile as he leaned down and softly kissed her plush lips. Wrapping her arms around his waist, they both leaned further into the kiss. Just as he slid his hand beneath the light brown curls resting on her shoulders and grasped the nape of her neck, Daz pressed her hands against his chest to break their kiss.

"Aht aht aht! You better watch it now…"

As he released her, she wiggled her finger at him and giggled before making her way back to the kitchen.

Sylus trailed behind, smirking as he watched her hurry around. Almost every counter had a waiting dish or pan filled with food.

"So a date night, all for me? To what do I owe the pleasure this evening?"

Daz sat the pan she was pulling out of the oven onto the stovetop and quickly turned around.

"This is not a date. This is just…" She tapped her long gray painted nail against her chin as she racked her brain for a way to finish her statement.

"A nice meal with a friend."

Sylus' brow raised in amusement as he stood at the kitchen's entrance with his arms crossed.

"Oh, is that so? Do you regularly make it a habit to kiss your friends, Miss Hunter? An awfully familiar way to greet a friend…as you called it."

She returned to her task, scooping roasted vegetables between two large plates.

Without turning around to acknowledge his likely smug expression, "wouldn't you like to know…"

He huffed and laughed, finally walking into the kitchen and grabbing the bottle of syrah and glasses from the counter in an effort to be helpful. She'd been spending some time at his place the past few weeks. Special missions in the N109 zone Daz would say each time she reached out to ask if she could crash at his place for a few hours. Many of those nights a few hours turned into the next day, without her having left to participate in any mission type activities. He didn't say anything, continuing to mind his business and take care of what he needed to do. Then almost two weeks ago to the day, as the two of them were finishing breakfast together, Daz grabbed her white travel mug and approached him, grinning from ear to ear.

"So I was thinking," she mused aloud, settling her hand on his shoulder as she stood behind him, "how about we have dinner together?" Sylus grabbed his phone, ready to message his chefs, "what are you in the mood for, kitten?"

Daz swiftly grabbed the phone and laid it on the table.

"Sy..." She sighed in mock exasperation and ruffled his hair. "Dinner as in I cook for us," she said definitively as her free hand slid down his shoulder.

As he tried to lean his head back to look at her, she gently nudged it back forward. "Don't answer right now, think about it." With a quick peck to the top of his head, she made her exit, leaving a smirking Sylus in her wake. The twins opened the dining room door, just barely avoiding slamming into her.

"Whoa!" Kieran exclaimed as she ran past them.

"What's up with her, boss?"

Sylus ignored their questions as he whistled for Mephisto. The crow flew in diligently, landing on the table before his master. With a few hushed words between them, the bird fluttered its wings a few times and after a loud squawk in understanding flew off through the open doorway the twins still stood in.

Mephisto kept a watchful eye, knowing to relay back if there was trouble, but Sylus chose not to check in on the bird's vision when it was with her. There was a small part of him that was secretly excited to see what she was planning for the two of them. Sylus couldn't think of anything that really surprised him anymore but sometimes Daz could give him reason to pause.

So when her official invite to dinner in Linkon City was received a week later, he grinned as the thought of getting to see her in her environment pleased him greatly.

He turned to ask about a corkscrew and as if she already knew, she pointed to the right drawer as she maneuvered around his tall frame grabbing at the final things that needed to be plated.

Full wine glasses, plates overflowing with food, and everything was ready for the two of them to enjoy. The two of them chatted and flirted as they enjoyed each other’s company against the backdrop of the impending sunset. One hearty steak dinner and some dessert were just the start of their evening.

They finally settled on her large sage green sofa, making room for themselves amongst the blush pink and soft gray throw pillows situated along the couch’s back and chaise. Another bottle of wine and a lot of conversation later, Sylus found himself gazing at her. The sun had set and just as he expected, the living room was now awash in a soft romantic glow. The both of them were feeling the effects of the red wine as they sat there on the couch conversating. Knit blanket over her shoulders, pedicured feet in his lap, she sipped and talked away while he took the sight of her in. She was beautiful. From her deep brown eyes that sparkled when she smiled at him to her chubby stomach that jiggled when she laughed at a cute animal video and soft thighs that easily tested the strength of the inseams of her denim pants to her light pink toes, he was in awe and wanted to drink her up. He continued listening to her as she talked about her dreams and her desires, how much she wanted to travel, and how she hopes she's doing enough to help. Sylus took one of her feet into his hands and began to massage it. She leaned back with her eyes closed, a soft moan under her breath and unable to continue talking as his hands rubbed and kneaded every stress from the day out of her. He ran his calloused thumb along the arch of her foot with a pressure that made her arch her back and moan loudly this time. Sylus chuckled at how she melted into the couch when he pressed that spot again. Daz finally opened her eyes when he stopped focusing on that spot.

“Sy, you know what that does to me…” Sylus fiddled with the star charms on her anklet, “Hmmm I can't recall, why don't you refresh my memory?” She moved her feet out of his lap, shrugging the blanket off her shoulders, as she fully sat up and looked at him. His smugness was on full display as he leaned back and waited for her response.

Daz pulled her skirt up and situated herself across his lap. His hands slid slowly up and down her thighs as they looked at each other. Both of their eyes were clouded with lust, amplified by the wine they'd freely indulged in all evening.

“Well, you've got my attention…,” Sylus' voice lowered as he slid his hands underneath her shirt and slowly traced tiny circles along her lower back. A low moan rumbled in her throat as she arched forward from his touch, her skin tingling everywhere his fingertips grazed her.

“Sy…” His name was a low sweet melody coming from her lips.

Sylus pulled her closer, her body almost flush with his, “now tell me what can I do for you, kitten?”

Daz cradled his face and looked into his eyes, lustfully gazing back at her, awaiting her answer. She rolled her hips against the bulge in his pants and began slowly grinding against him, her willpower quickly crumbling. Sylus grinned and dug his fingers into her supple hips to control her tempo as she grinded against him. With every pass, she grew wetter and her clit throbbed for more direct attention.

“Answer me,” he demanded with a quick smack to her ass before he started planting small kisses along her collarbone. She bit her lower lip and whimpered as her head leaned back, giving him more access and more places to nip and suck. They had been intimate with each other in more than a few ways but they had yet to cross that last threshold. He had told her that it was her call and they'd only go as far as she permitted.

And each time, she'd put a stop to what they were doing. Over the past few months, each time they found themselves in an intimate situation, he always left just how much or how little they did as her choice. Her mind and heart were still unsure, no matter how much her body was willing. Sylus always noted just how much turmoil she was in, he was too but he would not cross that line if she did not want it. No matter how tortuous it was watching her pull away each time, leaving him straining in his pants and her own body throbbing, it was her call and hers alone.

Tonight though? Tonight might be different. She hadn't suggested that they get together for a special meal before. She hadn't spent the better part of two weeks planning and prepping a large meal for the two of them to enjoy before. She hadn't extended him an invitation and granted him access into her inner sanctuary before. No, tonight and all that transpired shortly before it was all different.

As her fingers grabbed and tugged at his hair, stiletto nails poking his scalp as she grinded a little harder in his lap, the feeling of the lace panties she wore almost too much, he nipped the soft skin in the crook of her neck a little harder demanding her attention.

“Sweetheart, are you sure about this?”

Sylus rested his chin on her shoulder, his lips lightly grazing against her ear. “If we cross this line tonight, I'm not letting you go, kitten. So you should think long and hard. Be sure you're ready. Sure that you want this.” He flicked his tongue against her lobe and Daz tightened her grip on his hair and pulled his head back to look him in the eyes.

Was she ready? Was she ready to entangle herself with him even more than she had? He was the leader of Onychinus for fuck’s sake and a wanted man with a background so mysterious he was basically a legend around the hunters association now. Even with their unfortunate first encounter and subsequent interactions unfolding how they did, over many months she softened a little and became more and more open to his affection and attention. And goddess was he attentive, if not obsessive. He never hid who he was and what he did from her, even knowing one call would be all it took to upend his life and existence. And now here she was, straddling him in her living room, deciding if she wanted to go further than she ever had with him.

Daz nuzzled his nose before gently kissing his lips. As she sat there cradling his face, she couldn't help but look at him with some adoration. Sylus was never shy about his intentions nor his feelings. She knew there was still the goal of resonance and whatever that would mean for them and their evols and possible future together. If there was even a future to be had, she didn't know. Use me, he'd told her. And she had. Just as they both did each other.

Whether they were destined or damned, she didn't know but tonight she decided she would be clear as well.
