Work Text:
Currently, school is over. The only students at the school are the ones with after school clubs. Two of the clubs meeting today are the band club and the student body government club. Fortunately for Sungho, the student body president, only the council officers had to meet.
“Sungho? Why haven’t you packed up yet?” It was Sanghyuk, the vice president.
“Ah, I have some left over stuff. I’ll be gone soon don’t worry, I’m almost done.” Sungho reassured his friend. Sanghyuk just nodded in return and said his goodbyes.
In another room down the hall, the band president was also working overtime.
“Dongmin, I’m heading out, Sanghyuk hyung is waiting for me.” Donghyun, the bassist and sub vocal of the club, says with a small smile on his face, excited to see his boyfriend.
“Yeah, yeah. Go ahead, leave me to die for your little boyfriend.” Dongmin, the president, guitarist, and lead vocal, said in return while writing down some lyrics on his note pad.
“I heard that, Dongmin.” Sanghyuk said while peeking his head in the room. Donghyun and Dongmin turn their heads to the door, startled.
“My bad hyung, I didn’t mean anything bad.” Dongmin apologized, just a bit scared of his senior. Sanghyuk laughed and waved it off.
“Ready Donghyunie?” Donghyun grabbed his bag and skipped with glee to his boyfriend.
“Oh, right. Dongmin, can you check on Sungho before you leave? Just to see if he’s in the office still. He’s working late too.” Sanghyuk mentioned. “Make sure he goes home tonight. Last time he was found by the janitor.”
‘Sungho will be here too?’ Dongmin thinks. “Yes, hyung. I will don’t worry.” He replies.
Sanghyuk and Donghyun exit the room and head towards the schools exit. “Do I worry too much? Sungho and Dongmin both said don’t worry. Is it an issue?” Sanghyuk questions his partner. Donghyun just shakes his head.

It’s currently 4:15, two hours since school ended. Dongmin was finally ready to head home. He completed the song he was working on enough to start making the music for it.
It was a romance song. Romantic lyrics have flooded Dongmin’s mind ever since he met the love of his life. Or thats what he calls him. It was his Sungho hyung. The one he’s about to check on right now.
Walking down the empty hallway, Dongmin’s hands became clammy. He felt as if waterfalls were dripping from his forehead and armpits.
Dongmin has interacted with Sungho alone very few times. Every time he’s been in the same room with him, Sanghyuk and Donghyun were usually present. He preferred it that way though. It allowed him to hear his cute laugh and see his pretty smile when Sanghyuk made a joke.
Dongmin reached the entrance to the council office. The light was shown beneath the door, signaling that Sungho was in fact still in there. He made a light knocking sound before opening the door.
“Hyung?” Dongmin asked out. He could see that Sungho was startled by his appearance.
“Huh? Oh, Dongmin! You’re here too?” Sungho smiled in relief that it wasn’t the janitor again. He was really upset the last time he was here.
“Yeah, I stayed to write some stuff down. Sanghyuk hyung asked me to check on if you were still here or not.” Dongmin said shyly.
“Yes, unfortunately. But I’m almost done. I just need to complete this last scheduling assignment then I’ll leave.” Sungho stated while cracking his hands. He’s been writing all day.
“If you want, I can stay and keep you company?” Where did this confidence come from Dongmin? “It’s probably scary to be by yourself…” Dongmin trailed off.
Sungho blushed at the thought of him and Dongmin being in the same room. Unbeknownst to Dongmin, Sungho also likes him. A lot. From the first meeting last year, he’s grown to have feelings for him.
“If it’s not a bother, some company would be nice.” Dongmin strolled to sit in the chair closest to Sungho. They’re about 3 feet apart, but to them, it feels like they’re practically touching.
During the time Sungho finished his last assignment, Dongmin “scrolled” on his phone. In reality, he moved his fingers across the screen while looking at Sungho in the corner of his eye. His hyung was so pretty. No wonder his nickname is yeppi.
Sungho closed his laptop and gathered his papers. “I’m finished. After such a long time, I’m done.” He sighed out. His eyes drifted to Dongmin, who stared at him. “Ah, sorry if I took too long. I should’ve had you leave without me. I was selfish, sorry.”
Dongmin quickly reassured him, “No it’s fine. I wanted to be here with you… no, I mean, I wanted to make sure you didn’t sleep here! I heard last time the janitor caught you.” He tried to save himself, but his blushing face made it obvious to a normal person what he actually meant.
But Sungho is not normal. He thought about how Sanghyuk told him to check on him. ‘I really did force him here…’
“Well, we can head out now.” Sungho stated. They both exited the room and walked together towards the exit. As soon as they got there, they realized it was heavily raining.
“Now what. If I had let you go, you might’ve been able to miss the rain.” Sungho explained while looking towards the flooding road ahead. “Maybe we can find a lost umbrella?” He turns to see Sungho already holding an umbrella.
“I had one in my bag. I saw this morning it was going to rain.” Dongmin grinned slightly, proud of himself to be prepared for his hyung.
“You’re amazing Dongmin! I need someone like you in my life to keep track of the weather. I’m so busy some days I don’t even check my messages.” Sungho’s eyes sparkled at the very small thing Dongmin did. It boosted Dongmin’s ego a bunch.
“Of course, I’ll help you with everything.” They stared into each other’s eyes for a second. Dongmin’s eyes flickered towards Sungho lips but then they quickly looked away. He got too shy again.
Dongmin stuck the umbrella out to Sungho and looked at the floor. “Here take it. I can wait for the rain to die down.”
“What? We can’t go together? You ride the bus right? We’re heading to the same direction then.” Only right after he stated this, Sungho realized he was begging. “I mean it’s just more convenient!”
After a split second of silence, Dongmin opened the umbrella and looked at Sungho. “Okay then. Let’s hurry before the bus comes.” Sungho shuffled over next to Dongmin and mumbled a quick but sweet thank you.
The public bus stop wasn’t far from the school, but the rain made it harder to navigate without slipping or stepping in deep puddles.
“So when’s your next concert?” Sungho asked, not liking the slightly awkward environment. He also already knew the answer. A perk with being the president is knowing everything that happens at school. Even knowing what classes someone’s in, but we don’t speak about that.
“The 15th. Will you attend?” Dongmin asked back.
Sungho nodded his head. “I’m pretty sure I’m free that day. If I’m not, I’ll make space to go.”
Dongmin blushes at that. “Do you ever get breaks? Don’t you have a girlfriend to talk to? Or boyfriend, I’m not one to judge.”
“No boyfriend unfortunately… I definitely wouldn’t mind one. It’s not that difficult though. Once planning period is over, I’m practically free of all work. So I’ll have time for whoever I date.” Hopefully you, Sungho thinks. “What about you? Does music making keep you busy?”
“I’m free most times. Today was a rare day where I fully focused on my work, so I was busy.” Dongmin explained. “I have a really good reference for my music. The lyrics practically flow out of me.” He peeks over to see Sungho looking at him intensely, really listening to what he’s saying.
They reached the bus stop soon after. In short time, the bus also pulled up and they went on and sat down. It was a fairly empty bus, filled with office workers rather than students.
Sungho and Dongmin sat beside each other. Due to their long legs, their knees touched. It was only then Sungho realized that Dongmin shoulder was soaked.
“Why is your shoulder all wet. Did you not get covered with the umbrella?” Sungho asked concerned. It’s not like he would get sick, but why would Dongmin allow himself to get wet?
“I wanted to make sure you were covered. It’s only my should, so it’s fine.” Dongmin answered.
Sungho blushed at his reasoning. “It’s dripping down your clothes though… don’t do that next time.”
“Next time? So you’re hoping we do this again?” Dongmin teased.
“W-well if there’s a chance we’re both left at school and it’s raining, then yes!”
Dongmin laughed at his hyung’s silliness. The rest of the bus drive was silent until Dongmin had to get off.
“Hyung let’s exchange numbers. I want to make sure you’ll be coming to my concert.” Dongmin confidently suggested. Sungho agreed a put his number in his phone and changed his name. “Message me when you get home safely too.” Dongmin turned to leave the bus.
“Thank you for keeping me company Dongminie. Have a nice night!” Sungho said before he left.

It was now 8 pm, Dongmin and Sungho were chatting as if they’ve known each other for years. They had a lot in common. They loved music, fashion, and many other things.
‘It’s like we’re meant to be’ is what they both thought.
After a while of texting, they moved to calling since Sungho felt like he developed carpal tunnel.
“I was so annoyed watching that one scene where he saves the girl from getting eaten by the zombie. He’s like what, 50? How could be so agile?” Sungho exclaimed. They were talking about a movie they mutually hated.
“That’s exactly what I told Donghyun! He said something like ‘It’s not about the accuracy, it’s about the intention.’ He gets so philosophical sometimes. It’s weird…”
“At least the romance was enjoyable. They had great chemistry. They should’ve made it into a romance movie instead of an action movie.” Sungho noted.
“Their relationship is enviable. I want something like that.” Maybe it was because he’s tired, but Dongmin decides to spill. “You know hyung, you’re really pretty. I feel like you could’ve taken the actresses place. I would like it more if you were. Maybe not, seeing you kiss someone else would make me upset.”
“Why would you be upset?”
“I like you, hyung.” Then snoring is heard.
On the other side of the phone, Sungho is laying on his back with his hands covering his face, blushing into is palms.
“I like you too, Dongminie.” Sungho says back, even though he can’t get a reply.
“Really?” Or can he.
“You’re awake?!” Sungho says startled.
“I was too embarrassed so I pretended to sleep. You like me?”
“Go back to sleep! I’ll see you tomorrow!” Sungho quickly hung up the phone, heart beating at 10000 beats per second.
That night, Sungho went to bed with a blush on his face. Dongmin, on the other hand, went to bed with the largest grin.
