Work Text:
William lay in the hospital bed, his wings tucked against his back as he cradled the small bundle he held against his chest, small tufts of white hair and tiny white wings peeking out between the folds of the soft green blanket. he cooed quietly as tiny blue eyes met his own golden cat-like ones, his tail moving round to hold the baby more securely.
William sighs, exhaustion catching up to him in the late hours of the evening as he reached for his phone, calling the one man he knew he could trust because Alistair’s father wasn't safe. “Hugo? I need your help…” William spoke quietly, soft noises could be heard from his side of the line as he continued to soothe Alistair to keep him quiet. He smiled softly at the voice on the other side, the assurance in the man’s voice setting him at ease before he put the phone down, attempting to get some rest before Hugo arrived in the morning.
William’s sleep was restless and unfulfilling, getting up at multiple points to tend to Alistair before the boy settled down and slept, his eyes half closed as he watched his son sleep, smiling as the small white wings fluttered slightly. He looks up as Hugo knocks quietly before entering. The man looked tired, likely from a combination of William waking him up during the night and his shift during the day. “I'm sorry for waking you up during the night, Hugo” William spoke quietly, his face apologetic before he continued “but, you were the only one i could call, it’s not safe for Wesker to know of Alistair’s existence” William admits, clearly conflicted about his decision, his tone betraying his feelings.
He hands Alistair to Hugo once the man had settled in the chair beside his bed, a soft smile gracing his tired features as he watched the man cradle his son, the gentle hold alongside the soft touches warming his heart knowing his son was in safe hands. He murmured a soft “thank you” before laying down, falling into an uninterrupted sleep, at ease knowing nothing would happen while Hugo was with them.
