Chapter Text
“My lord, your tea is ready”.
The familiar deep voice jolts you out of your daze as you stare at the devilish butler in front of you. You look back down at the tea tray on your desk and sigh.
“Are you okay my lord? You seem to be distracted by something.” Sebastian inquires as you grab one of the papers off your desk and start fanning yourself.
“Yes it’s just rather… hot.” You lie, trying to hide your blushing face behind the papers.
Ever since making a contract with this demon, you’ve had the displeasure of developing a strong crush on the butler over the months. It was like your soul that you promised him was becoming in one with him the longer you were with him. Though you knew better to assume things. After all, you were a man and so was he. As well as being in a position of power. Your love would be forbidden and frowned upon by the public eye for many reasons.
So, you always kept this ridiculous crush to yourself. It’s not like Sebastian would love you back anyway, after all it’s only your fruitful soul he wants, and he’s a very hungry demon. A demon who will never know what it’s like to experience human emotions no matter how experienced he is at his human facade.
“Please excuse me. I need to retire for the night.” You say, standing up as you head to your bedroom, hoping Sebastian didn’t follow you. Quickly you close the door behind you as you sigh, leaning up against the door and taking deep breaths.
This demon would be the death of you. In more ways than one.
You approach the antique full length mirror by your bedside and unbutton your navy blue blouse. Looking down at the dry bloodied fabric binding your breasts, your mind wanders to the mission you and Sebastian went on yesterday.
—————————————
You and Sebastian were ordered by The Queen to find some missing noble female hostages that were taken by a very deranged baron. His whole scheme however, was that he loved to host dangerous yet elaborate games. Rumour has it that whoever manages to win these games will be ‘set for life’.
While very vague, you and Sebastian worked out that the noble hostages were the prize. They were most likely being held on the top floor of the baron’s mansion, the only place that was sealed off unless someone won the game.
Much similar to a masquerade, everyone was to wear something to disguise their face in order to keep things fair.
The game rules addressed to us were as follow.
1. Each contestant starts off in an isolated area in the mansion far away from each other.
2. Each contestant is given a card, these cards differ in the amount of stars that are on them. You can either get a 1 star card, 2 star card, 3 star card, 4 star card or a 5 star card.
3. Players must collect 5 stars or higher to win. This can be done by gathering enough cards off others to tally 5 stars, or simply going for whoever has the 5 star card and taking theirs.
4. To gather these cards, you must grab them off the other players. To get these cards you can use any method you’d like except purchasing them. You can use methods such as negotiation, stealing, physically harming the other player or even killing them.
5. You are each allowed any weapon you’d like. Your chances of defence and survival are higher if you have a weapon on you. It’s highly recommended though not mandatory.
6. You can team up with only one other person. The max amount of people per team is 2. If you decide to be a team, you will count as solely one person if you win.
7. Any attempts at cheating, trying to escape or opting out of the game will result in disqualification. Disqualification results in death.
8. There can only be one winner.
So once the rules were explained, you decided to team up with Sebastian. It wouldn’t be much different, he was always by your side after all. If anything it’d be more difficult to keep your cool around him than play the actual game. Your close younger cousin Ciel was much better at keeping calm under pressure than you were. Though he was no longer alive, sometimes you swear you sense his presence around back at home.
Staring at the card in front of you, your hands shakily flip over the card to reveal its rarity. Your eyes widen as you freeze in shock upon realising it was a 5 star card.
“Shit.” You curse under your breath as Sebastian leans in close to you.
“Do not worry my lord, if you keep this card hidden and do not act too suspiciously around the others they shouldn’t suspect you have it. Besides, I’m simply one hell of a butler.” Sebastian remarks, his eyes glowing purple for a brief second.
You take deep breaths to calm yourself before nodding. Opening the door in front of you, you step out into the hallway with Sebastian by your side.
The game had begun.
