Work Text:
Let it not be said that Adrien wasn’t clear what he thought of the Alliance Rings. He hated them with a passion.
For starters, they were an eyesore, always resting on the wrong knuckle, so it looked like a ring that had been forced onto a finger too large for it.
Then there was the inherent creepiness of having his own avatar being used like some sort of paper doll, able to be dressed and undressed at will and made to say anything anyone wanted. There was also a Lila option of course, but Adrien wasnt sure if that wasn't just creepier, seeing Lila be so helpful when she usually "needed" to be helped with whatever excuse of the day suited her.
Then there was the device itself. Its AI was terrible. Its calming exercises were stupid. Its apps displayed everything to the world. Adrien could go on and on.
Adrien had told his father he didn’t want one, and St first, his father had agreed. Then, he’d changed his mind, and forced Adrien to wear one, which Adrien had accidentally lost. Out his window. The next one he'd accidentally flushed down the toilets. The next had been smashed with a hammer. And so the list went on and on until he received one that he couldn't bring himself to get rid of.
An alliance with his mother's voice and face.
