seokjin saw the flyer and decided to register jeongguk for fun. he told yoongi over dinner that he signed up jeongguk for a baby race with supply of diapers as the prize and yoongi looked at him strangely.
"i know ggukie doesn't need diapers anymore, but we can give them away if we win, right?" seokjin asked. "and honestly i just want to see him join the race."
yoongi thought it over and agreed that it would be a fun thing to do anyway.
they didn't really prepare jeongguk for the race since it didn't matter whether he won or lost, they just wanted more cute videos of the baby.
so on the day of the race, they didn't prepare any trick or incentive for jeongguk. seokjin simply sat with jeongguk before the race started while yoongi sat on the other side of the mat with his camera ready, and when the race began, seokjin would ask jeongguk to go to yoongi.
to their surprise, jeongguk had practically raced to the other end, squealing as he did and then throwing himself onto yoongi's lap.
he had looked confused as to why yoongi kept sitting so far away from him, but simply shrugged and kept on toddling over, unknowingly winning the rounds up to the final.
"hey, maybe ggukie has a chance in winning this after all," seokjin said as he laughed, bouncing the baby in his arms.
jeongguk looked at him curiously, not knowing what he was talking about, but simply cuddled back.
the final round started and there were three babies participating.
as usual, jeongguk started toddling off towards yoongi as soon as seokjin let him go when the race started. however, he stopped when he heard a thud and a wail, and turned to see another participant had tripped and fell onto the mat and started crying.
"oh no, aby sad," jeongguk said when he saw the baby crying. he toddled towards the other baby and kneeled down next to him, patting his back.
"aby kay... aby no sad," he said, patting the baby's back, before he hit his palm with his fist. "oh!"
everyone watched curiously as he plopped down on his butt and, as if he was a magician, produced a pack of baby biscuit from his pants pocket.
the baby stopped crying to watch him as well, and jeongguk struggled to open the pack before he took one of the biscuits out and offered it to the baby.
"aby wan nag?" he asked.
the baby had stopped sniffling and nodded, accepting the biscuit with both hands. the other baby saw the two and changed course, crawling over towards them instead of to his mother.
"aby wan nag too?" jeongguk asked as he took out another biscuit and offered it to the other baby.
he took the last biscuit and nibbled on it.
and so the race ended with the three babies sitting together, nibbling on biscuits. the announcer was confused and the parents were too busy recording their kids being adorable.
