By the time Jin’s lips unlock from yours, the taxi has picked up speed crossing Banpo bridge. The taxi driver sighs and shakes his head, clearly annoyed by the amount of giggling, laughing, and affection you and Jin have been sharing since you got into his car back at Incheon airport. Jin looks at your hand in his, squeezing it gently.
“Thank you,” Jin says. “I don’t think I said it back there at the airport. Thank you for deciding to stay.”
His voice is calm and even, so unlike the rambunctious teasing lilt from earlier.
“You’re welcome, Jin. You made a really convincing argument, you know,” you reply. “No one’s ever written poetry for me.”
“And no one for me has ever been worth writing poetry over,” he adds. “I got to do a lot of new things on this trip thanks to you.”
You turn your head away, to look out the window, trying not to get too emotional. After everything that happened to you—being dumped at the airport, facing over a week of traveling alone and in a foreign country—you can’t believe the trajectory of your trip changed completely because the guy who sat two seats away from you asked if you’re okay.
“Is everything okay?” Jin asks.
You steel yourself, turning back to him at his question. His lips are so plump and perfect, but you hold back. You don’t want another annoyed look from the taxi driver.
”I know we talked about ordering food when we get back to the apartment, but I’m not hungry anymore,” you say.
“Oh, sure,” Jin nods. “Do you still want to do laundry?”
You shake your head. “I think it can wait.”
”I see…”
You lean in, your mouth hovering by his ear. “Are the guys still at the apartment?”
Jin blinks, taking out his phone. “I’m gonna let them know we’re on our way back, and that they should head out to a jjimjilbang.”
”I think that’s a good idea,” you smile.
