Work Text:
Amelia broke her arm on a Friday.
I think it was in the gymnastics hall, I was outside on the field doing football. I only heard the whole story through a friend of a friend.
She was on the trampoline when she jacked her landing and fell off. Katelyn and Olivia were talking about the fight that happened at lunch.
I only saw the teachers pulling the boys away because I was getting pizza. Someone would have a video.
They were too busy talking to realise Amelia wasn't vertical anymore, and she hit the edge of the trampoline and landed directly on her arm.
Apparently the snapping of her bone was louder than her agonising scream.
We all saw medical rush into the gym building with a wheelchair. Sir told us to carry on with our match but it was only moments later a sobbing Amelia came wheeling out and we all paused to watch.
George wanted to know if she was okay.
Max and Harvey laughed at the way she was crying.
I passed the ball to George.
Amelia came back to school on a Wednesday.
Everyone smothered her with questions. Well most people, I just wanted to ask Harry if he'd watched the match that night. It was 2-0.
She had a cast on, really chunky, with a sling. Throughout the day she got people to sign it.
I wrote my initials and gave her a smile.
George put a heart next to his name.
Max drew a dick and she tried to swing at him.
Amelia got the news on a Saturday.
I remember seeing Harry's post saying he was devastated for her and asking people to donate to a site. I was confused, so I messaged him about it.
Amelia had gone for a checkup, seeing if it's healing the way they wanted. They did an X-ray and noticed something about her bones that they didn't the first time.
How do you not notice bone cancer when looking directly at someone's bones?
I was shocked. And upset. I sent her a message, apologising and wishing her well. She responded with a thanks. A sad thanks. A very sad thanks.
George visited her in hospital. I think he brought flowers.
Amelia died on a Sunday.
I remember the assembly the next day, and the two minute silence.
I assumed George found out pretty quick because he wasn't in on Monday.
Harvey was crying too much he couldn't go to English.
I remember it being really quiet on Monday. Nobody wanted to do anything so most lessons were watching movies or playing games. Miss Evans didn't talk all lesson.
I got home and cried with my mum. I quite liked Amelia. I hoped George would be okay.
George killed himself on a Tuesday.
