Chapter Text
She was nervous, so nervous her palms were sweating. She cleaned and cleaned them on her trousers, but sweating didn’t stop. She met the most powerful men in the world daily, but they didn’t make her as nervous as finally driving to see Pam. It’s been a few days since her press conference. The news shook her position as President but only made her feel better. She didn’t want to lose her position, but being open is much better than any job. It means she is going to see the love of her life as an openly gay person for the first time. Though her visit to Texas is because of the tragedy and she is sad about it, every inch closer to Pam’s house makes her happier and more nervous. Cars finally stop and a driver announces “We are here, Madam President”. “Thank you, Carl” she thanked while stepping out of the vehicle.
Every step to the door feels like a blessing to her. She knocks and the door opens almost immediately. Pam steps out of them “Hey”. Ellen’s eyes fill with tears, her eyes haven’t felt happy tears in a while. “Hey,” she responds with a smile. Pam is trying to find her words “So, what do we do now?”. “I don’t know” Ellen responds with a big smile. She inhales deeply, waits for Pam's response, she invites her to go inside. Ellen follows her to the kitchen “I’m so sorry I couldn’t come earlier”, tears finally escape her eyes. “Don’t. I’m glad you’re finally here.” she comes closer, cleans tears from Ellen’s cheeks, and kisses her. Ellen responds to the kiss almost immediately. They haven’t done this in years, but it feels familiar and good. This good Ellen hasn’t felt in years, but today she is finally with her love and kissing her with full heart. Kiss is gentle and longing, but in a minute it turns to a passionate side. Ellen feels Pam’s hands on her waist and moans in response. She responds by grabbing Pam’s neck and pushing her to the wall. Pam escapes a kiss and Ellen misses her lips already “Do you want to go to the bedroom?”. “Yes, please,” Ellen asks and kisses Pam again. Pam takes her hand and leads them to the bedroom.
Ellen lies in the bed with her head on Pam’s chest and feels happier than ever. They had extraordinary sex, but it’s finally time to talk. They weren’t the talkiest couple, but this talk can’t be postponed. “Do you want to be my girlfriend?” Ellen blurs, she didn’t want to start like this, but she didn’t dare to ask this question in the past and now she cannot think about anything else. “Girlfriend of the President who is married. That sounds complicated” Ellen raises her head and looks at Pam. “Sorry…” Pam grabbed her head before she could finish. “Don’t. I was joking. Of course, I would love to be your girlfriend”. Ellen kisses her girlfriend and tears leave her eyes again. “Babe” Pam cleans her tears and kisses her wet cheek. “I won’t hide, being the President’s girlfriend won’t be easy. But I promise you, soon I won’t be President and I would like for you to be by my side when it comes.” Palm looks at her seriously “Are you going to resign?”.
“No. They are trying to kick me out, but I won’t give up”
“Good. Because I won’t let you. I’ll be by your side even if you go for re-election. Ellen, I love you and I want you to have everything in the world. I’ll be by your side every day even if it will be hard. You aren’t getting rid of me anymore. Not after what you did. You are amazing, the best President we could ask”
“Thanks, Pam, it means a lot. I love you with all of my heart.” She kisses Pam and feels assured that nothing could separate them now. “And I would love for you to need Scott. Not now, but soon. Everything is too much for him now. Me being gay, our divorce coming up”
“I would love to meet him” Pam presses a brief kiss to Ellen’s lips. Ellen returns to her position and hugs Pam tightly. Pam responds to it and hugs her back. She almost forgot how good it felt to be in Pam’s hands, holding her with all of her being. Now they were official girlfriends and she wanted to shout it from the rooftops. She knew she couldn’t do it, at least not at this moment, but one day she will. One day, she will be divorced, and everything will be calmer. People will make peace with her sexuality and, maybe even accept her. She will be waiting for it and the best part is that she will be waiting with her girlfriend by her side. “How much time do we have?” Pam woke her from her daydreaming. “I’m staying a night if you keep me”. “Of course, how could I not” Pam smiled “I would love to make you dinner if you want to”. “I would love to”.
They spin in the kitchen like in the old days. They are making chili, Ellen’s favorite. God, she missed that taste, her cooks could never make it as good as Pam would. This felt like home like it should be and could be every day. Ellen enjoyed it with every fiber of her being. Pam hugged her from the back, leaned, and pressed a kiss to a chick. “You look nice in my T-shirt”. “Do you think I could wear it in my press conference tomorrow?” Ellen joked. Pam returned a smile “I think people would love this new look on you. I love it” Pam turned Ellen with her hands and kissed her.
They sat in the kitchen in the comfort of each other. They couldn’t stop touching. Touches kept them grounded and reassured them that it was real. They are sharing a meal and enjoying the company. “Your chillis are always the best. No one makes them as good as you.” Ellen shared. “I’m glad you like it” Pam looks her in the eyes. “Are you kidding? I love them. I don’t know what I missed more you or your chillis” Ellen jokes and Pam rolls her eyes. “I’ll send it to the white house and you can decide.” “I’ll accept it only if you’ll deliver it yourself” Ellen takes Pam’s hand and looks with loving eyes at her. They clean up after dinner and return to the bedroom. Night with Pam by her side feels like heaven to Ellen. This makes her sad and happy at the same time. Sad because they cannot do it every night. Happy because they will be able to do it every night soon. She fell asleep with her girlfriend in her hands and she couldn’t dream of anything more.
Ellen wakes up and doesn’t understand where she is for a second. Then she looks by her side and sees Pam. Grin appears on her face. “Mmmhm…” Pam speaks in her sleep. “Babe, I will have to go soon” Ellen explains and presses a kiss to Pam’s cheek. “Don’t” Pam responds in the sleep. “I don’t want to leave, but I have to.” Pam starts to rise when a knock interrupts them. Ellen checks the clock it’s 5:15, it must be her clothes. Ellen rises from the bed “It’s my clothes”. “Robe is in the bathroom” Pam offers. Ellen raises and turns to the bathroom.
Pam is already in the kitchen making coffee when Ellen is back “God, you are an angel”. “Go, put on your clothes, I’ll be waiting for you with a coffee” Pam urges her. She is back in her usual attire and Pam is waiting for her with a coffee on the table. “I could get used to it” Ellen blurs, but doesn’t regret it. “Me too” Ellen presses kiss and sits next to Pam. She puts her hand on Pam’s knee “I’ll call you whenever I can. I promise. And I would love to see you soon, very soon” Ellen looks at Pam while sipping her coffee. “I would love to. I know you can’t come to Texas every day. I’ll come to DC if you will return me a favor of sleepover” Pam grins. Ellen presses a kiss to Pam’s lips “Of course”. A knock on the door interrupts them again, “They’re waiting for me”, they both stand and hug. “Thank you for everything, I love you with all of my heart,” Ellen hugs Pam. Pam looks her into her eyes “Thank you, I love you madly”. They share a passionate goodbye kiss and Ellen tries to memorize every second. Leaving Pam is hard, but knowing she could call and see her makes it much easier. She knows it’s only the beginning for them and she can’t wait for more.
