Still Feeling You

Work Text:

Blinding colorful lights and the cheerful noises of the crowd echoed throughout the surrounding area as the two men danced together. Cheers bellowed louder at the curtain call as the two curtsied away from the platform. Behind the red drapes, they finally looked at each other after an exhilarating exchange.

For Caelus, this connected glance made the sounds drown out, and he could only hear his heartbeat. The grey-haired was spell-blindingly mesmerized.

He finally woke up to find the blonde extending his right arm towards him, a gesture of invitation with a huge smile on their face. Caelus looked at Aventurine's open hand and didn't hesitate to grab it.

As he was back to reality momentarily, grasping it made the illusion of being the only two people around in such nightlife festivities that never sleeps lengthen.

They drank and shared conversations that made them learn about each other, no matter how small. Caelus's surroundings were a blur, but the golden man was vividly clear, as if untouched by the haze.

His laughter, his eyes, his everything. It was all captured without fail.

The tipsy Trailblazer loses track of time and eventually finds himself in the other's booked room at the premium suites within the dreamscape. Whether he minded it or not, for him, it was simply a "friendly" extension of their earlier activities.

It was supposed to be that way.

It was.

Until the two stopped mingling and just stared, as their distance slowly crawled closer to one another.

Slowly, their lips were just inches away.

"Caelus!"

"It's time to get up!"

The loud call for his name jotted Caelus awake from his realistic dream. The trailblazer couldn't help but groan as he processed what had just happened.

It was already weeks ago, but the grey-haired couldn't forget the intimacy he shared with the IPC's senior manager.

If it was just a mere kiss they exchanged, then Caelus could probably pass it off as if a fox had bitten him, but in truth, they spent a night together under the sheets. Authentic or not, the experience felt incredibly real within the confines of the dreamscape. It was hard to ignore and even forget it now that the Trailblazer experienced it.

The door of the archives slid aside, revealing a figure of a young girl with both arms on her waist.

March 7th glowered at Caelus.

"Come on already, don't you have an event to host at Radiant Feldspar? You need to prepare and dress up! You'll be presenting a speech you know."

"Sorry, I overslept." The silver-haired laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.

As he lets himself be dragged away by his fellow crewmate, he can't help but feel the lingering warmth of his dream.

They haven't exchanged words ever since they separated ways. Caelus pretended it never happened, as well as did the other. Now that he's even dreaming about it, the Trailblazer could tell he regrets it. One way or another, he needs to be upfront with the blonde to be freed from these gnawing, lingering emotions.

Oh well, when the opportunity comes, he'll settle it with Aventurine.

Notes:

I stumbled upon the song by Couch, "Still Feeling You" and got inspired to write AvenCae based on it. This is actually written after 2.2, but I recently played 2.3 and finally got to do its finishing touches.

There will be a complimentary fic for this, centered around Aventurine + its conclusion

I also plan to make more AvenCae content (fanfic or fanart) because I want to contribute to the AvenCae nation. There isn't enough fanfics for me to read!

Apologies in advance for the grammar mistakes. English isn't my native language, and I have been rusty at writing. You can tell, as this is my first fanfic after 6 years.

Hopefully, this is quite okay to read. Feel free to drop comments for feedback, suggestions etc.
Thank you ^^
