Work Text:
Everyone was getting ready.
They rallied around their hyped up boss as he continued to scream things about fucking up the bitches from hell and killing them so he wouldn’t have to think of their ugly faces again
- ‘cause it’s fucking exhausting I mean Lute back me up here, they are fucking ugly right?
- They are sir
- Sure bitch, whatever I said it so now we just have to kill those fuckers just as we practiced last year and the year before that and the year before that…
At the front row were the highest-ranking exorcist which carried their weapons up in the air or close to the chest ready to comply with their boss will and their own also it was the job after all, “a smart way to handle the whole hell overpopulation problem” as they called it. Also, enjoyable according to the overall excitement of the whole army.
The portal opened and the goal was set kill those motherfuckers.
The sky tore open thousands of exorcists invaded what once was a red hellish ceiling. Every demon stopped in its tracks, it was time to run and they all knew it they’d been dreading it since this exact date a year ago.
Those who could, fled the scene, those who couldn’t well they stayed frozen in place fear flooding their sinful little bodies watching as the black blur closed in on them. At first they looked like shadows sliding amongst the sky and as they zoned in their prey everyone knew it was all over. The first stage was the yelling almost an unbearable amount of high and low pitched screams that pierced through the air of what once was a rather particularly nice day in cannibal town I mean there was a fair amount of screaming before the exorcists arrived but in wasn’t strange since it was you know… hell.
All VOX screens turned to the news an urgent broadcast was being aired about how everyone had to run for their futile little lives as the host so not nicely pointed out
- Attention everyone we now would like to announce the fucking extermination day is here as you can all probably see it and if you can’t see it well too fucking bad for you, they’re still coming so RUN maybe you’ll be part of the lucky survivors who have to wonder if the’ll get lucky next year again or it will be the last fucking day of their futile little lives cheer up! and I hope you’d done cardio ‘cause you’re gonna need it bitches. Fuck off Tom!
Chaos ensued, demons were running, screaming, setting themselves on fire at the sight of glowing angelic weapons and their purpose. Angels didn’t even wait to touch the ground as they chased their prey, flying at great speed until they reached the demon of their choosing and went berserk stabbing, poking, cutting into sinners “serves them right, they deserve it” Vaggie thought while stabbing two cannibal demons at a time with her spear, then another and another and another, dozens had fallen at her hands hundreds even as the hours passed. Time flies when you’re having fun.
Somehow the yelling died down just for a couple of minutes which allowed Vaggie to hear trash cans crashing near an ally “how appropriate”. As she got closer, she realized that it was a small figure that was running from her crouched unable to move from fear “good” she took her mask off so the little lame cannibal kid could see her eyes, the last thing he’d see before disappearing for good the sound of metal clashing with the ground echoed though the ally. She began stabbing over and over again for what felt forever cold blood splashing on her face then suddenly a hand grabbed her shoulder and turned her around, but she was on a high of adrenaline from all the stabbing she’d just done. She pushed off the one that was now facing her.
Click.
The soft glow of the now turned-on lamp illuminated the room.
- Vaggie are you okay?
- Charlie
She sighed with relief, she let herself relax at the sight of her girlfriend sitting up in the bed rubbing her eyes, her hair pointing at every available direction, a still half asleep expression on her face.
- What happened Vaggie? I heard you crying and got worried, were you having nightmares again?
“Right…tears, it wasn’t blood that gave me that cold feeling on my face” she felt her lover’s hands sheltering hers.
- I’m sorry Charlie I didn’t mean to wake you up
- Don’t apologize please, I’m here for you, do you want to talk about it?
Vaggie thought about it for a minute but decided against it. There was no reason for Charlie to carry the weight of her past too, and it was just too much, she’d been awful even though she wasn’t a demon she’d done some real messed up shit and she knew it. Charlie deserved better than a fucked-up excuse for a fallen angel, a monster.
- Don’t worry Charlie, it was just a bad dream. I’m just glad that you are here now
“and I’m not there anymore…”.
- Are you sure? I can go down to the kitchen and bring you something
- There’s really no need sweety I’m just
“an angel” Vaggie thought.
- Tired, you need to get some sleep, we have stuff to do in the morning
Charlie nodded and turned off the lamp then turned around to face Vaggie and held her, she’d learnt when to push for more info out of curiousness and when to let it go for other people sake.
- Right, the meeting… can’t… wait
Said Charlie slurring the last words, then yawned and dozed off
There was stillness in the air
“the meeting… in heaven” The place she was cast out of, the place for which she’d done the things her girlfriend and her were now trying to stop. She was less than excited to go back to heaven, all those memories flooding her brain made it impossible for her to relax until she felt Charlie snuggle on her neck then there was only warmth, she had the only thing that mattered right there laying beside her, the one who saved her, the one she loved.
“I owe it to her” she tried to put aside all of her thoughts and let herself be lulled to sleep by the sound of her girlfriend’s breathing and the feeling of Charlie’s tail wrapping itself around Vaggie’s leg.
