Dirty Dancing on a Rainy Day

Summary:

Rainy Day Prompt for Caroline and Gillian :)

Work Text:

Rainy Day prompt taken from the Nailed It challenge from the Hebden Bridge Server!

Bit of a short one from me, film credits to Dirty Dancing <3

“I’m bored,” Gillian groaned, she had been sat around for almost an hour, not able to do anything she needed to get done outside due to the consistent rain all through the night and morning. She had however in the morning fed the sheep but didn’t fancy catching hypothermia just to go and try tidy the place up which had been her plan.

Caroline in the meantime had taken the opportunity to catch up with some admin she hadn’t had chance to do. With the rain, it saved her having to do some kind of outdoor activity with Gillian and secretly she was thrilled.

“Why don’t you read a book or something? You’re always saying you want to get into reading,” Caroline often went to bed with her book, whereas Gillian would be lay on the other side laughing over some video she had found on the internet and inevitably distracting Caroline so she could watch it too.

“You know I only say that to try and impress you, I can’t stand reading, it takes too long to get to the point. Rather wait for the film,” Gillian threw her phone down on the sofa next to her, admiring her girlfriend peering over her glasses at her on the opposite seat.

“We do have the house to ourselves, and I doubt anyone will venture out to come see us in this weather,” Gillian met her eyes with suggestive eyebrows, she would do almost anything to get the blonde into bed at any opportunity she could.

“No, I should have done this yesterday but you…you distracted me and told me it would just be a 15-minute break, that didn’t happen did it?” Caroline tried to hold back the smirk on her face. Really, she didn’t mind that her girlfriend had so insistently distracted her from what she was doing by crawling up to her and landing straight in her lap. It had however put Caroline behind with her work and she really needed to get it done before the weekend finished.

“You shouldn’t even be working on the weekend, it’s not fair,” she pouted at the blonde. It only bothered her the blonde had to do it, she was proud of her for what she had achieved and continued to do for the school, but she knew tight deadlines and pressure from people above caused her to have to take on extra work.

“I know, I’m sorry,” she sighed, she hated it herself. When she was with John it was almost welcomed because it gave her an excuse to not have to sit and listen to him whining and moaning about himself or that he had no writing inspiration or whatever else had pissed him off that day. Gillian however, she wanted to spend time with her and frankly having to bring work home with her was become a nuisance, although something she was trying to work on. It was getting better. “Give me an hour and we can do something together. Do you have any board games you can go and look for?” She knew she had to make some kind of suggestion, otherwise Gillian would just sit opposite and distract her until she gave in.

“I think there might be some bits in the loft, I’ll go take a look,” Gillian grinned, pleased that she was going to get the attention of her girlfriend, she hated having nothing to do and could only entertain herself for a maximum of 5 minutes.

Returning almost an hour later, Gillian had managed to find some dusty yet original classics; Cludeo, Monopoly and Scrabble in a cardboard box that she had brought down with her.

“Did you get lost up there dear?” Caroline felt her presence behind her before even seeing her enter the room.

“No, I was looking through all the shit I’ve got up there, load of stuff my mum kept from when I was a baby and tonnes of photographs. Had a little trip down memory lane,” Gillian confessed, she was a feeling a little nostalgic, looking back at times of her childhood, teenage years and beyond, wondering where all that time had gone.

“Manage to find anything worth playing?” Caroline gestured towards the box as she set aside her paperwork and pen on the side table, there was still a little more she needed to do but could probably squeeze it on Monday morning.

Setting down the box on the kitchen table, Gillian started looking through. “There’s scrabble, monopoly, cluedo,” she found those three and then looked to see a VHS tape sticking out underneath one of the boxes. “Oh, and a vintage copy of Dirty Dancing for good measure,” she smiled at Caroline who had walked over, now stood behind, with her arms wrapped around her waist.

“I’ve never seen it,” she said softly as she nuzzled her head into Gillian’s neck who quickly turned on her heel in a state of shock.

“What do you mean you’ve never seen it?” Gillian was baffled, she was sure everyone and anyone alive had seen it, especially Caroline who would have been old enough to see it originally in the cinemas at the time.

“It’s just one of those that passed me by, never really thought to go and watch it. It’s the same with a lot of films,” Caroline leaned in to kiss her passionately, she didn’t really care anymore about playing games, having really only used it as a tactic to get Gillian out of the room, she wanted to get back to what Gillian’s mind was originally planning.

Pulling away from her Gillian was still slightly in shock at the revelation. “No no no, you’re not doing anything until we watch this film,” Gillian was adamant she would get the blonde to watch the film, it was the perfect rainy-day activity.

“An hour ago, you were trying to get me into bed, now you’re telling me no?” She groaned, not seeing what the big deal was that she hadn’t watched the film.

“That can wait, I’m making you watch this first, no girlfriend of mine is getting away with not having seen Dirty Dancing!” Gillian exclaimed, she vividly remembered watching it a lot with her friends at the time, all of them swooning over Patrick Swayze, pretending to kiss the television whenever he appeared. All of them dancing with each other as if they were extras in the film. It brought back fond memories for her.

“I can’t believe you like a film about dancing,” she rolled her eyes, she could barely get the other woman to sit down and watch strictly on a Saturday night when it was on, let alone sit through a whole film.

“It’s not just about dancing Caz, there’s a feisty love story in there too with a dad that doesn’t approve. He’s a bit like Celia come to think of it,” she laughed, but it wasn’t a lie, he didn’t like the idea of his little girl being with a man of different status to them, which was like their own love story.

“I best give it a watch then,” she smiled and kissed Gillian on the forehead before letting her go.

“You’ll enjoy it, I promise,” Gillian almost skipped around the kitchen making them some homemade popcorn and grabbing some other snacks she had lying around before settling in front of the TV to find the film.

Caroline sat down next to her, having retrieved a bottle of wine and two glasses, as she poured the wine she could see Gillian getting frustrated. “Are you alright?”

“Yeah…just sick of this bloody technology bollocks, life was easier with VHS, you knew where you stood. Put the video in, press play and away you go, but now!? So many apps and having to type it all in, drives me mad,” Gillian was slowly typing in the name of the film into one of the apps having tried the other three, finally succeeding.

“There we are, found it at last,” she felt satisfied with herself that she had managed it without either asking Caroline for help or throwing the remote to the floor and giving up which she had done on previous occasions.

Caroline lifted up Gillian’s arm so she could lean into her better, wanting to get comfortable, her other arm draped over her stomach to hug her. “This is cosy,” she smiled as she nestled herself in closer, having the other woman so close to her brought her warmth and comfort, a feeling of peace and a place to feel safe.

Having managed to make their way through most of the popcorn, snacks and onto their second bottle of wine the film was drawing to a close, almost about to play out the final scene.

“Surely he’s not going to turn up after all of that is he?” Caroline had come to the conclusion that would be it for Patrick Swayze’s character, that he wouldn’t come back to perform.

Just as she said it, he walked into the room, making a beeline for Baby and utter the infamous words of “Nobody puts baby in the corner,” to which Gillian had said at the exact same time. In fact, she had almost recited the whole film and sang along to all of the songs.

As the scene continued on, Caroline’s eyes were fixated onto the screen, she couldn’t deny that the man could dance and could see why people would love the film if for nothing else but to completely swoon over him. “He can dance can’t he,” she commented, feeling herself getting more into the music.

“Yeah, he really can, his hips are a masterpiece,” Gillian was watching Caroline instead of the film, intrigued by how much she seemed to enjoy it.

“They are…indeed,” she gulped, although she was a lesbian and committed to Gillian, there was the very occasional man who she took a little bit of fancy to.

“Not seen my Dirty Dancing skills though have you,” Gillian wriggled her hips in the chair as if to try and demonstrate how fluid her own hips were if she was to dance.

“Show me, I’m eager to see now,” Caroline wanted to call her out to see if she would show her or not, plus it was an excuse to get her to show off those hips she adored.

“Watch the end of the film first then I will,” Gillian wasn’t joking around, if the blonde wanted a performance then she would give it to her, she felt confident enough to be able to at least replicate some of the moves given how many times she had seen the film.

Caroline huffed but continued watching the screen, impressed by their ability to dance and by the end of it, she found she had actually really enjoyed it and almost didn’t want it to end, something she would definitely watch again in the future.

“Come on then,” Gillian nudged the other woman off of her to stand up and extended her hand out for her to take.

“That wasn’t part of the deal…” Caroline hugged herself, trying to hold back a smirk that was forming on her face.

“Well I can’t dirty dance on my own can I?” She rolled her eyes, feeling a little anxious of actually dancing in front of her girlfriend on her own, if she was ever to be in this position she would have usually been a little more intoxicated.

“You told me you had skills, I don’t even know the dance,” Caroline exclaimed, she didn’t really like dancing at the best of times, let alone to music she didn’t know.

“You can follow my lead, come on,” she shook her hand out again once more and eventually the blonde accepted, allowing herself to be pulled up from the sofa into Gillian’s arms.

“Alex…play Cry to Me,” Gillian instructed and took the lead, putting her thigh between Caroline’s thigh that earned her a surprised but satisfying gasp. As the music played Gillian got closer to the other woman, their chests meeting and they moved slowly but in sync with each other. Caroline put her hands around Gillian’s neck, just following what she had seen in the film, it amazed her to admit that it actually felt quite sensual.

Feeling confident that Caroline was starting to grasp the idea, the brunette maneuvered her hands around her waist and steadily, Caroline leant backwards before seductively pushing her chest back up and into Gillian, their lips almost meeting, but not close enough to kiss each other.

Gillian could feel Caroline getting more into the dance and become more confident as the blonde’s hands found their way to her arse that her hands and fingers danced around, the brunette couldn’t help but find it extremely sexy. Slowly, she lifted Caroline’s leg around her waist and pushed her thigh harder between her legs which earned her a throaty moan.

“You’re very observant aren’t you,” Gillian almost whispered into Caroline’s ear, noting how much she had picked up from that scene in particular.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she smirked and dropped her leg from around Gillian’s waist, moving to walk around the brunette, her hands roaming her front whilst she pressed her chest up to her back before turning to look at her once more.

That was enough to send Gillian into a frenzy and she threw the other woman’s arms up in the air to take off her jumper that she flung across the room before kissing her passionately on the lips. Both women explored the other with hands running across each other’s body and Caroline managed to rid Gillian of her own jumper, leaving them semi-naked, still dancing slowly along to the music.

As the song came to a close, both of them broke apart from kissing each other, now completely worked up from their borderline humping dance routine, chests heaving against each other.

“Upstairs?” Gillian tucked the loose hair in front of Caroline’s face behind her ear and her fingers ran across her jawline. Caroline simply nodded and smiled, leaning her head into the other woman’s hand. Both women not wanting to have spent their rainy day at home in any other way.
