“Come on”, Mario giggled.
He pulled Peach along carefully as they crept along in the darkness of the carriage hold. There was no one about.
Mario opened the door of the biggest carriage at the far back, and the royal couple tumbled in giggling mercilessly like teenagers.
Mario settled into the seat first and pulled Peach onto his lap. Still breathless, the lovers only took a moment to look into each other’s eyes before they were kissing feverishly.
A desperate hold took over them; they had been waiting all night for this.
Their clothes were quickly torn off from each other, and then Mario pushed his wife playfully down into the seat.
“We need to be careful”, he whispered huskily into her ear. “We don’t want to make too much movement or noise, or else they’ll catch us.”
Peach grinned. She knew beforehand that Mario had already “informed” the guards closest to the carriage hold that there would be repairs done by the royal upholsterers tonight. So any sudden movements from a carriage was not to be a cause for alarm.
And besides - she knew that her husband would never really put her in a discomforting position.
“This was a wonderful idea”, she smiled.
Mario grinned back.
“Better than being at a stuffy party, eh?”
They kissed each other. Mario drank in the scent of her skin, suddenly ravenous.
“So”, Mario said, maneuvering himself so their hips were flush, “how long before they notice us missing?”
Peach grinned more devilishly now, and flipped then both over so Mario, breathless and a little caught off guard, was lying across the seat, with Peach straddling him.
“As many rounds as it takes.”

“I say, Toadbert?”, cried Toadsworth as he hurried across the room.
“Yes Toadsworth?”, replied the bespectacled toad.
“I am just wondering if you have seen our King and Queen”, said Toadsworth, clearly in a fluster. “Oh, this will not do at all! The important speech is coming up, and they are missing!”
“Calm down!”, said Toadbert as a few other toads started to gather. “I saw them walking towards the gardens, by boogity! We’ll just go and catch up to them.”
“Of course!, said Toadsworth, straightening his cane with a flourish. "Then let us go bring them back!”

In the carriage the air was alive and humid. Peach’s hand rose up from inside to brace it against a frosted window, before swiping it away again.
The quiet and dim ambience of the carriage hold, they quickly found, was a blessed place to make love. All their senses were more alive than ever. Every touch and hold and kiss sent electric pulses of need and want through their bodies. They couldn’t get enough. Neither knew how long they had been at it, but they never wanted to stop.
Eventually, both gave a quiet gasp as their releases followed one after the other. Their tightly clasped hands digging into each other with all the support and lust and love, until eventually it slackened.
Mario’s head rose up from where it had been buried in Peach’s shoulder. She looked beautiful, as she always did. Only this time the moonlight streaming into the carriage hold caught her glowing skin in such a way that made her look radiant.
He thought he could fall in love with her all over again.
He kissed her, and she brushed a hand through his equally damp locks.
“You’re trembling”, she whispered.
Mario smiled.
“Don’t worry”, he panted a little, “I’ll be fine.”
Peach kissed his cheek, and pulled him down so he was nestled on her chest.
Only a moment later they heard a noise coming from outside the carriage hold.
“I assure you, Toadsworth. The only person who would be here would be the upholster.”
“What upholster?”, questioned Toadsworth.
“Quick!”, hushed Mario, as he urgently swung open the carriage door and grabbed Peach’s hand, picking their clothes up along the way.

Only a moment later they were running back to the party, fully clothed and giggling in hysterics!
