Only I Can Have You

Summary:

“Before our final fight. I was right there, but it was like I didn’t exist. You asked him to be your boyfriend.”

Himiko’s face flushed with embarrassment. “Ah. Well, I was going through a lot. My head wasn’t clear.”

Work Text:

“You asked him out first.”

“Who?”

“Midoriya.”

Himiko raised an eyebrow. “That’s what you’re pouting about?” Ochako had just gotten home from work, and she was already at a hundred percent on the “don’t talk to me, I’m angy” mood.

Ochako wasn’t pouting. Okay, maybe a little. But she was allowed to, for once. “I was standing right there. You knew me longer—”

“By barely an hour!”

“Shut up and let me vent.”

Ochako was in one of her moods, but Himiko wasn’t surprised. Something must’ve come up at work today. Someone said or did something to undermine her, and therefore, her self-esteem had taken a nosedive. Himiko figured that it had something to do with Izu—no, Midoriya.

She promised to never talk about him so familiarly anymore. Himiko didn’t know the first thing about Midoriya. She never had. The only thing she’d really liked about him was how he’d looked like that boy she’d loved and killed years ago. The idea of him being beautifully covered in blood had excited her once, but Himiko had squashed such baseless lust for him. She had Ochako now, who actually knew her from the inside out.

(And, well, she and Midoriya’s sexualities weren’t exactly compatible…)

Ochako wanted to let it all out, but instead of getting it over with, she flopped onto the couch. She buried her face in the soft pink throw pillow and groaned loudly.

Himiko approached her and sat next to her. She reached out and placed a hand on Ochako’s back. “So, you were standing there. When?”

“You know when.”

“We’ve both done a lot of standing around, Ochako. Can you clarify?”

Ochako responded by pushing her face further into the pillow.

Yup, whoever it was, they’d drained Ochako down to the bottom of the self-esteem bottle. It made Himiko’s insides boil, and her fangs ached with that old desire to tear her enemies’ throats out. Because anyone who made her Ochako feel this defeated was evil. Did they deserve to live? Hell no.

But Himiko swallowed down her hatred and cleared her mind. Right now, Ochako needed her.

“Back then.”

Ah, maybe she was ready to talk.

“Back then?”

Ochako nodded slowly. “Before our final fight. I was right there, but it was like I didn’t exist. You asked him to be your boyfriend.”

Himiko’s face flushed with embarrassment. “Ah. Well, I was going through a lot. My head wasn’t clear.”

Jin’s murder… It ached, even now. Five years wasn’t enough time to forget the loss of a loved one. Her therapist told her that death wasn’t something you had to “get over” but learn to live with. The hurt meant that Himiko had cared.

“Dumb excuse,” Ochako muttered. “And you’d always lumped Tsu in with who you liked. She’s not special.”

Ouch, she was so upset that she was throwing one of her best friends under the bus.

“Well, I don’t like her anymore.”

“Because I’m the best, right?”

Validation was key for tonight’s crisis. Others would see this as indulging Ochako’s little tantrum, but Himiko saw it as feeding Ochako the love that she craved. And boy, did her girl crave affection. She was voluptuous, carnivorous, when it came to its essence.

She was possessive when she thought someone was threatening her position as Himiko’s True Love. Ochako could be quite nasty, territorial, and Himiko loved to watch her in action as she torn into the so-called interloper.

Himiko rubbed Ochako’s back affectionately. “You’re the best,” she replied. “You’re the most gorgeous, smartest, talented, powerful, beautiful—”

“You said that one already.”

“No, it’s a different adjective. I wanted to emphasize that you’re the prettiest in all the world.”

That seemed to calm Ochako down. She moved her head to peek up at Himiko. “And you’re the cutest in all the world.”

A few days passed, and Ochako’s spirits seemed to have lifted. She went to work during the day and saw Himiko again in the evening. They took turns making dinner, keeping it simple yet filling. Ochako wasn’t above packing leftovers in her bento, which saved them time in the mornings. They walked to the station together before departing on separate trains.

Himiko was taking the nursing program. The classroom size was small, with only eight students this semester. Himiko preferred it this way; a larger group meant more stares and whispers regarding her presence. It’d been years since the war, but some people still couldn’t forgive Himiko and the League for what they’d done.

Ochako had encouraged her to go to school. “Your Quirk would be perfect for blood transfusions and identifying blood types.” The idea of transfusions scared Himiko; she’d nearly died from giving Ochako one. If it hadn’t been for that stupid Hawks coming in to stop her from finishing it, then Himiko would’ve been dead.

But she refused to thank him. His interference in their lives had caused Jin’s death, after all.

At school, they reviewed the materials that would be coming up on their next exam. Himiko had an app to make study cards and updated them while taking the train back home after school ended. Ochako always helped her study, even when she was bone-tired from work. She needed more days off, because Ochako was coming home ragged lately.

It was the lack of relaxation that had made her vulnerable to people’s words. Ochako didn’t clarify exactly what they’d said to her the other day that had made her so irritable. But Himiko had a feeling that it’d been connected to Midoriya in some way. He was always in the limelight, while Ochako still got overlooked. It would’ve pissed off anyone. Ochako alone had stopped an army of Jin clones from killing every hero in sight. It was thanks to her that their ungrateful asses were still alive.

So, somebody had made an offhand comment, probably comparing Midoriya’s heroics to hers. Himiko must’ve been mentioned as well, because Ochako always got possessive when it came to her.

Nobody would ever suspect such frowned-upon behaviour from Uravity. It made Himiko’s insides warm; that insatiable ownership was only directed at her. Nobody else would ever experience Ochako’s dark devotion like she did.

When Himiko arrived at their apartment, she stepped inside and locked the door. She dumped her backpack on the couch; she would review her textbooks once she’d had her afternoon tea. Ochako wouldn’t be home for another hour, so it was up to Himiko to make dinner. She loved cooking for her beloved and worked on improving her skills as much as possible.

They still had to get rid of their cabbage. Okonomiyaki would be perfect for using up the rest of it. Himiko could get the prep work done and then cook it in the pan once Ochako got home. Himiko rolled up her sleeves and put on her apron. Time to get to work.

It was half past six when Ochako finally returned home. She’d changed out of her hero costume at the agency and was dressed in comfortable sweatpants and T-shirt. Her backpack was slung over her shoulder, her planetary keychains clinking gently with each step.

Himiko had finished prepping dinner a while ago and was sitting in the living room. Her face lit up as Ochako came towards her. She dumped her backpack on the floor and fell into Himiko’s lap. Himiko readjusted her so that Ochako’s head was nestled on top of her thighs. She ran her fingers through Ochako’s hair and listened to her breathing. “How was your day, Ochako?”

“Mm, busy.” She closed her eyes. “We worked with another agency in our district for patrols. Everyone partnered up, so I was with this senior member. While we were patrolling, he kept asking me questions.”

“What kind of questions?”

“About my education. He’d applied to U.A. in middle school, but failed the written exam, so he never participated in the practical like I did. He ended up going to one of the smaller hero schools. Nothing fancy, but it got him through high school, and he ended up getting hired by his agency a year later.

“He wanted me to talk about the stuff that happened during my first year. He wasn’t subtle about it.” Ochako curled up tighter, her fingers curling into fists, pinkies out. “I have a feeling that he made sure to be partnered with me, so that he could be nosey. I tried to steer the conversation towards the curriculum, but he wasn’t interested in any of that. No, he wanted to know about my ‘troublesome class’ and how we’d always ended up being targeted by… the villains.”

Himiko paused her ministrations. “How rude of him.”

“Very rude. Who brings up dirty laundry during the first hour of knowing somebody? And the way he spoke, it was like he was jealous that he missed out on the attacks, Bakugou’s kidnapping, the war…” Ochako tensed up. She squeezed her eyes shut. “It was none of his business. I told him so, and then… he asked about you.”

Ochako traced her fingers over Himiko’s knee. “I don’t think he knows about us being together. He only knew about the Before. He wanted details about our fights, and how I managed to ‘defeat’ you. As if you weren’t a person to him, just another faceless villain with no feelings or history or… or a soul. It pissed me off so much that I gave him the silent treatment. And for that, he accused me of being a ‘stuck-up bitch’ who only got lucky.”

Himiko’s pupils narrowed into deadly slits. “He called you a bitch?”

“It’s not the first time someone has, but it’s been a while. It caught me off guard.”

“Which agency does he work at?”

“Himiko…”

“I won’t kill him, but I’d like to introduce him to my knives. Just as a warning.”

Nobody was allowed to insult her Ochako. Off-hand, passive-aggressive comments would earn you savage words from Himiko at the very least. But now, her blood pounded hotly in her veins, and days like today, she would see red. A dark, searing crimson that blinded her rationality. This “colleague” (more like “cockroach”, who deserved to be stepped on) was lucky that Himiko hadn’t been there, or that old bloodlust would’ve won.

If it was up to Himiko, he would be a blood smear on the sidewalk.

Ochako could sense the internal rage building, and promptly sat up. “Himiko,” she cooed as she pulled Himiko into her arms. Himiko pushed her face into Ochako’s chest, soaking in the warmth. “Hey, I handled him. I didn’t let him off the hook. And I told Hawks about the incident, so it’s all in writing. He even got reprimanded by his boss.”

“I should be the one defending your honour, not him,” Himiko growled. She should be protecting Ochako. Having others step in to help her girlfriend, even though Himiko couldn’t always be there, pissed her off. Her fangs ached from the injustice. Even now, the world was wary of having her participate in it. And if someone saw her with Ochako, they would only fear the worst.

And what if this asshole had gone in the other direction? What if he’d seen a seemingly single Ochako instead? She had no ring, after all. Would he think that she was up for grabs?

The thought of someone hitting on her Ochako was even more rage-inducing.

Ochako must’ve noticed the tranquil fury overcoming Himiko, because she said, “Hey, I know you would’ve kicked his ass if you’d been there. But I don’t want to give them any reason to use our love against you.”

Overwhelming affection, fierce and brutal, took hold of her. Himiko grabbed fistfuls of Ochako’s shirt. “You’re mine, forever. Nobody else is allowed to touch you. Do you understand?”

Ochako didn’t have time to protest—and she didn’t want to, because why would she? This is exactly what she’d always wanted—as Himiko smashed her lips against hers.

They’d had sex before—tender and soft, loud and messy, spontaneous and romantic—but the way Himiko commanded Ochako’s full attention right now was downright feral. Ochako felt Himiko’s fangs scrap against her lips before nipping them hard enough to draw blood. Himiko lapped at the crimson droplets welling up, and her pupils expanded.

She pushed Ochako onto the couch and climbed on top of her. She wrestled with Ochako’s shirt, yanking it off and then unclasping her bra. Ochako returned the favour, and soon the two of them had completely undressed. Heavy, frantic moans filled the air. There was no need to talk; they knew exactly what the other needed in this moment. Ochako sat up and pulled Himiko into her lap. Himiko ground down onto Ochako’s thigh as Ochako groped her breast. Ochako held her tightly against her as their mouths reunited.

They didn’t stop touching each other until they’d marked their lover up with a sufficient amount of bite marks. Himiko’s teeth always went deeper, bruising Ochako for weeks, but Ochako had learned how to return the favour. She kept the marks in places that wouldn’t arouse suspicion—the last thing Himiko needed was her classmate raising eyebrows or questioning if she’d been in fights—but Himiko wasn’t always so courteous. Especially not tonight, when she was so on edge and possessive.

Ochako wouldn’t have it any other way.

Despite showering at the agency before coming home, Ochako had to hop into the shower after she and Himiko had finished ravishing each other. Himiko insisted that she’d go first, looking a little shy now that she’d gotten her carnal issues out of her system. She went back to the kitchen instead and began making dinner.

When Ochako came out of the bathroom, wearing a fresh pair of pajamas, Himiko was just finished flipping the okonomiyaki onto their plates. She drizzled them with kewpie mayo, sauce, and bonito flakes before handing a plate to Ochako.

“Thank you,” she said.

Exhaustion was quickly reclaiming her, now that her adrenaline from earlier had been depleted. She chewed on her pancake, savouring the mixture of cabbage and bonito. She glanced across the tiny kitchen table at Himiko and smiled softly.

“Was I too much for you today?” she teased.

“I should be asking you that,” said Himiko. “I didn’t mean to jump your bones like that.”

“Yes, you did.”

“Okay, yeah, but I just wanted mark you up. I want everyone to know that you belong to me.”

Ochako reached across and squeezed Himiko’s hand. “I’ll always belong to you.”

Since that day, when blood and vows were exchanged, they’d been in love. It had taken a while for them to be together physically; the heroes had been reluctant to set Himiko free.

But they’d underestimated Ochako’s love for her. They soon learned that keeping them apart would be disastrous for Japan.

But now they were sated… at least, for tonight. Ochako quizzed Himiko for her next test (she aced every question, of course) before retiring to bed. They faced each other, holding hands until they finally fell asleep.
