Asahi pedaled steadily along the winding road, the cool evening breeze ruffling his hair as he navigated the bike's path. Jaehyuk held onto him securely from behind, his arms wrapped around Asahi's waist as they glided down the familiar country road. Their laughter echoed through the quiet streets. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the landscape, painting everything in warm shades of orange and pink.
As they rode, their laughter mingled with the sound of the wind rushing past them. They were two college kids, inseparable since they first met in freshman year. Their bond was forged through late-night study sessions, shared dreams, and countless adventures. Asahi had just finished their exams and they were relishing the freedom of the evening, the wind rushing past them as they rode tonight.
The streetlights flickered on, casting a warm glow over the cobblestone roads as they made their way toward their favorite spot - a secluded clearing on the outskirts of town. Asahi glanced over his shoulder, catching Jaehyuk's gaze. There was a softness in his eyes, a warmth that made Asahi's heart skip a beat. At that moment, he knew that he didn't just want Jaehyuk by his side—he needed him.
Slowing to a stop by a grassy knoll overlooking a shimmering lake, Asahi swung his leg over the bike and hopped off, offering a hand to Jaehyuk. They stood there together, breathing in the crisp evening air, their shoulders brushing against each other in silent solidarity. They exchanged a knowing glance, their eyes sparkling with excitement as they made their way through the dense undergrowth, hand in hand.
The clearing was bathed in moonlight, the soft glow illuminating the grassy meadow with a few towering trees that surrounded it. Asahi spread out a blanket while Jaehyuk rummaged through his backpack, pulling out a thermos of hot chocolate and a bag of marshmallows.
They settled down on the blanket, their laughter filling the night air as they roasted marshmallows over a crackling fire.
" For you, I'd steal the stars, " Asahi whispered above the rustle of leaves and the gentle lapping of water against the shore.
Jaehyuk turned to him with a softening expression of a tender smile. " And for you, I'd ride to the ends of the earth, " his eyes sparkling with affection.
They stood there for a moment, lost in each other's gaze, the world around them fading into the background. Time seemed to stand still, their love illuminated by the fading light of the setting sun.
But even as they reveled in the warmth of their connection, Asahi couldn't shake the ache in his heart, the yearning for more. The day may turn into night, but whatever this is, burned bright, a flame that refused to be extinguished by the passing of time.
As the evening wore on and the moon climbed higher into the sky, Asahi reluctantly realized that it was time to head back home. The chill of the night air hinted at the lateness of the hour as they remained in their peaceful spot.
A sense of heaviness settled over Asahi as he glanced at the moon, its soft glow casting long shadows across the meadow. He knew they couldn't stay forever, but the thought of leaving filled him with sadness. He wished he could freeze this moment in time, to hold onto the warmth of the night and the company of Jaehyuk just a little while longer.
But reality barged in with a sharp pang. Jaehyuk wasn't there with him. The realization hit Asahi like a sudden gust of wind knocking the breath out of him. He longed for Jaehyuk's reassuring presence, his steady hand on the small of his back as they rode home together.
He hopped on the light bicycle once more, the routine action triggering a flood of lingering emotions. Every pedal stroke seemed to echo with the memories of their past adventures, each turn of the wheel a silent prayer for more time together.
As he rode into the night, the darkness seemed to envelop him, casting long shadows that danced on the ground. Asahi's heart felt heavy with the weight of their parting, the longing for more time together burning like a beacon in the depths of his soul.
The streetlights flickered overhead, their warm glow illuminating the path ahead as they made their way back home. But even amidst the familiar surroundings, Asahi couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness that lingered in the space beside him.
Yet, no matter how hard he tried to escape, Asahi felt trapped in a maze of memories, unable to break free from the grip of his emotions. It was an illness called Jaehyuk, a relentless ache that lingered in the depths of his soul.
As he reached their dormitory, Asahi sighed and leaned the bike against the wall, his thoughts consumed by the memories of their evening together. He feels like he’s trapped in a cycle of longing, unable to escape the grip of his emotions.
As he stepped into his quiet room, the emptiness echoed the loneliness in his heart. He longed to hear Jaehyuk's laughter, to feel his warm embrace once more, but the silence only served to deepen his longing.
His gaze fell on the various items that reminded him of Jaehyuk—the photographs they had taken together, the gifts they had exchanged, the clothes that still carried the faint scent of his cologne. Every item was a reminder of the memories they'd made together.
But even amidst the reminders of their past, Asahi was at a loss that weighed heavily on his heart. He closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh, the tears he had been holding back finally spilling over.
" I miss you, " he whispered into the silence.
No matter what I do, no matter what I see,
Even if I cry as much as I want,
It’s a disease that will never forget.
Asahi curled up on his bed, burying himself beneath the covers. His dreams were haunted by the memories with him. He stirred in his sleep and felt Jaehyuk's presence, a comforting presence that enveloped him like a warm hug. It was as if Jaehyuk's soul was caressing his head, whispering words of love and reassurance.
As the first light of dawn began to creep through the curtains, Asahi stirred from his sleep, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
" No matter what I do, no matter what I see,
Even if I smile as much as I want,
It’s a disease that will never forget. ”
