Why’d You Have to Wait?

Notes:

Hey guys, my name is Tristan. I am the author of this story. This was written for my friend but I decided to publish it. I will be posting once a week. I'm not sure which days, so just expect one to be posted randomly. I will be taking suggestions and recommendations, in case anybody would like to help me develop as a writer. I will also be taking requests in case anybody would like me to write a story for them. If you're interested, you can go check out my other series called "Why'd You Have to Wait" starring y/n and Nakamoto Yuta. I guess that's all. Thanks, I hope you all enjoy it.

Work Text:

I wake to the sound of my ringtone blaring in my ears. I run my hands over my bed sheets in search of my phone. Picking it up, I look at the caller ID. My best friend, Jay, is Facetiming me. I answer. “Y/N! Uh-oh. Why it look like you still in bed, hoe? Get up!”. I stare at her through the phone, allowing the silence to take over. “What time is it?”, I think to myself. I take a moment to look at the time. It’s 12:45 pm. “Get up for what, what’s going on?”, I say, breaking the silence. “I want to take you to this nice little cafe I found.”, she says enthusiastically. I can tell by the sound of her voice that she really wants to take me. “Okay, I’ll be ready by 2.”, I say with tiredness still present in my voice. “Okay. See you soon.”, she says before ending the call. "I checked the weather, and it's nice outside: there's a slight breeze, and the sun is shining." I lay in silence for a moment before getting up to find my outfit for the day. Walking to my closet, I stub my toe on my dresser. “Ow, fuck!”, I screech in pain. If I wasn’t awake before, I know that I am definitely awake now. Eventually, the pain goes away and I can complete my task of choosing an outfit. After a few minutes of searching, I finally narrowed down my options and chose a long black skirt and a white sweater with black swirls, dice, and writing on it. Choosing my shoes was very easy because I just chose my favorite pair; My black and white Converse’s with red hearts on each side. (These shoes hold a special sentiment for me because my mom gave them to me before she passed. Ever since then, I have made sure to wear them almost every day.) After laying the clothes on my bed and stationing my shoes on the floor, I start making my way to the bathroom. Upon entering, I am greeted by my reflection in the mirror. My skin is glowing and I look so energized. I think I want to do my makeup today. I take my clothes off and turn the shower on. I wait for the water to heat up before getting in.
*After Shower*
I dry off, put my robe on, and walk back to my bedroom. Picking up my phone to check the time, I see that it’s 1:27 pm. Taking off my robe, I feel the cool air on my skin. I apply lotion to my body. Then, I put on my underwear, bra, and socks. I sit at my vanity, getting ready to do my makeup. I don't know which look to do so, I scroll through Pinterest looking for inspiration. I cannot find one so, I just do my basic look. I line my lips with black lip liner and fill them in with red lip gloss. I brush my eyebrows and fill them in. As for my hair, I just do my edges. I don’t need to do much to my hair since it is already styled in box braids. After I’m done, I check the time once more and it is 1:50 pm. “I should get dressed.” I put on my shirt, skirt, sweater, and sneakers. Looking in the mirror, I realize that something is missing. I grab my red purse from my closet and stare at myself in the mirror again. Done! My look is now complete. My phone starts ringing and I answer it. “Hello? Are you ready? I’m outside,” Jay says. “Yes, I am coming out now.” I grab my phone, wallet, keys, and lip gloss and put them in my purse before heading out. I lock the door behind me whilst also checking my surroundings. I make my way to her car and hop in. After I’m situated, Jay begins driving. “This is nice”, I say with admiration. “Gworl, thank you. My father got it for me.”, Jay says happily. “Oop, tell him to buy me one next.”, I say jokingly. We both laugh. “What you wanna listen to?”, Jay asks. “Play some She Wants Revenge”, I say enthusiastically. Right then, I hear her say “Hey Siri, play She Wants Revenge on Apple Music.” There is silence for a few seconds before I hear the instrumental to Tear You Apart. I instantly begin grooving. Jay turns the volume up and begins bopping her head. For the rest of the ride, we barely spoke and only listened to music.
