Sleep doesn't come easy for you. The vastness of space watching the stars and moons pass by the ships windows not as soothing as one might think. It's unfamiliar and just like the nothingness around it makes you uneasy with how empty it truly is.
You used to hate the sounds of the motors and grind of rubber on asphalt but now you miss it. Not even the sound of the occasional cricket reaches your ears here.
On nights like this you wander the base until he finds you.
It used to scare you, bumping into his tall dark figure in the darkness of the ship, but now it's a comfort.
Blade doesn't say a word as he herds you back to your room and into your bed. He doesn't join you under the covers, he never does, but he lays beside you eyes closed and arms wrapped around you as if challenging you to leave the bed again.
You won't leave of course, not when you can stay here and rest beside his sound. His breathing is steady and calm and the gentle thud of his pulse where you rest your head on his chest soothes you. It doesn't take long before your stuck in a wonderful dream that when you eventually wake up from you don't mind that he's gone.
